You mean this lady? Caterina Murino PS. You can clearly see the Seamaster 300m on Daniel Craig's wrist in the poster too.

Mine is behaving impeccably!

Yup! And who was it broke the news about that watch on old RWG way back at the end of January? Incidentally, the blue Seamaster GMT model is also featured later in the movie, and the watches even got a mention in a draft of the script!! Not sure if they'll keep it in though. Looks like we didn't have to wait till the 15th for the trailer after all - probably because the 'leaked' French one I posted yesterday got such positive reactions! It's going to be a cracker of a film, with much more 'human' plot than many of the previous offerings, and you are right about it being the beginning of Bond. I won't spoil the story for you though...

In many case, sadly yes. It used to be that an 'ETA' movement powered watch would come with a higher standard fit/finish/dimension of case. This made them IMO worth the premium. This is no longer a given, and the premium is often for the movement alone. The 21J auto Asian Miyota copy movement is every bit as good quality and reliability wise as an ETA counterpart. The only downside is if you do ever damage one then you may struggle to get spares to repair it. Having said that, many watch movements (ETA design and others) are a disposable item these days...

Sony/MGM are denying this is an official teaser trailer... Planet 007 Make your own mind up. (PS. Expect the English version of this, errr, another teaser trailer for Casino Royale to be in your cinemas on May 15th).

Go buy it folks. I was lucky enough to receive a pre-release promotional copy, and it's GOOD!!

Joshua's Serviced Omega SMP GMT - Waterproof Test
r11co replied to TJGladeRaider's topic in The Omega Area
Waterproof test is really a misnomer in this case. Airtightness is really what is being tested. Still, it works for me!! -
Hmmm. My plans for the 'ultimate' PO are taking shape. WRT an AR coating - most opticians can do AR coatings on any old piece of glass. I'll be asking a few questions next time I go for an eye test.....

Joshua's Serviced Omega SMP GMT - Waterproof Test

EEEK - I am sure the crown ain't screwed in right on the GMT in your pics.... -
There are 45mm ETA reps out there (if you've been paying attention). Trouble is they are custom built jobs that TTK was shipping 4 months ago. If you want one now - start with one of trusty's Asian 45's and cannibalise any generation of ETA 42's movement (you will need to use the 45mm dial hands, and making Miyota hands fit an ETA movement is not an easy task). Swap the hour markers as well onto the 45 dial and... BINGO! Alternatively, stop being a movement snob (the BPH on the genuine co-axial movements is 21,000 anyway in order to increas the power reserve) and just do the hour marker switch from a 42.5mm ETA dial on a 45mm Asian PO and you've got the biggest and best PO going....

It is wrong to assume that replica watch sellers have boxes and boxes of stock of every watch they advertise, ready to just pluck one out and stick it in a padded envelope the very second your order appears in their inbox. Then there are the small matters of weekends when the postal service slows, local holidays, times of increased demand leading to longer processing. It ain't a supermarket y'know. I think I am getting a tad fed up with the people who cannot exercise common sense with these matters. Silix have probably the largest range of watches available of all our sellers (I say available and not pictured yet long since out of stock like many others...) If that means it takes them a few working days to track one down for you be grateful. Would you rather they pulled that particular model because they can't shift hundreds of them every month??

Don't be too down on the 'old' 7750. In the correct dial configuration (12 - 9 - 6) it is actually quite reliable. It was only when they started messing with the dial locations that it became unreliable...

Are the seconds hands (6pm positon) on the new daytona jerky?
r11co replied to speedy1's topic in General Discussion
That's the price paid for the movement getting thicker, thanks to the modules that shift the dials. -
What a smoothie! My wife's getting tickets to see George Michael in concert for her birthday. They are worth 10 times their weight in gold at the moment, but it still ain't a patch on that beauty!

Advice needed, repairing SMP bracelet
r11co replied to Nebakanezzar's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Epoxy will be fine, but only use it in two of the holes - the ones the splined shafts push into. If you glue up the link-pin then you will not be able to use that link to re-size the bracelet. -
Does that mean I am still top at Space Invaders then as I have received no PM's? (Is that a challenge?)

Hear here! A big Welcome to my favourite rep sellers.

No need to be sarcastic! For general information (ie. not directed at anyone) - the correct construction of the Seamaster bracelets is that the links should be held together by pins and not screws. Contrary to popular thinking this is not a sign of cheaper construction as the pins are not the typical 'split' type but are in fact very well engineered hi-tensile pins held in place by specially shaped tubes that grip the pins at an indentation approx. 1/3 along their length. This, along with slip tubes concealed in the links allows the bracelet to 'flex' without the associated risks of screws which can (and often do) work loose. The pins are extremely strong along the axis they are designed to 'support' the bracelet, but are also prone to shattering if you attempt to extract them from the bracelet in the wrong direction, because of their hi-tensile construction. I can understand why a rep factory would want to dispense with this mode of securing the links as it is costly to temper steel this way and makes construction of the band more labour intensive. Earlier SMP reps used exactly the same dimension and quality of parts as the genuine items - this I know because I have used real parts to replace rep ones when they have become damaged (which is why I know about the shattering!!)

When my Genuine PO orange meets my Andrew's 4th Gen PO
r11co replied to cwai02's topic in The Omega Area
Those reps are scarily good. I'm still hangin' out for the 45mm tho. -
I'm sure there's a rep of one of these designs, with the 'complication' on the back...

I was first to back your opinion of the watch, and to treat with caution your opinion of the dealer. If you can't understand that then, well, poor you! There is a faction in this group that dispenses with the flowery language and the blowing of smoke up peoples' asses telling them they are absolutely positively right, only to hypocritically point out where they are wrong. Ask TTK!! We speak it like it is! Your snivelling last post only highlights what a plonker you are. I stand by what I said that you registered here simply to go off on one about Josh and how hard-done by you think you were. Had you registered and looked about a bit or even bothered to do a search you would know that the issue of the deteriorating quality of Seamaster reps has already been discussed. Had you looked for Josh's last dozen posts you would also have known about his email problem. Don't going playing the gent now..... After reading that, I could understand perfectly if Josh was to let you stew for a bit....
-
Exactly what I was thinking. The 'slimmer' print is exactly as the Asian I am wearing at the moment. In other words this is a 'parts-bin' special.

Hmm. A 'new member to the board' who claims to have bought five reps from Joshua??!! Technically, everyone here is a new member as the board has been running for less than six weeks. I suspect while you are a new registree you must have plenty knowledge of the community to (i) know who Josh is and (ii) have ordered 5 watches from him. Your 'real issue for discussion' is being discussed, but you aren't happy the way the discussion is going as your motivation is what, exactly??!! Your appeals for sympathy as a newbie don't work on me, and I'll let the rest of the readership draw their own conclusions too....

Josh went to the trouble to warn members here that his email address had been hijacked. He used the best means possible. If he cannot get access to the contacts list attached to that particular webmail address then you cannot expect to get a personal warning in your mailbox about it. I expressed concerns about the deteriorating quality of ETA Omega Seamaster reps relative to their increasing price, but this is a market problem and proper feedback to the dealers will hopefully get the issues sorted and improve the situation for everyone. You, however, now appear to be just another selfish individual blowing your top. Going by your registration date and number of posts it seems that you are yet another of many who's only 'contribution' to the forum is to turn it into a personal flame-pit when it suddenly suits you.
-
I've only ever read praise about Josh and have never ordered from him, so I can't comment on that, but the deterioration in quality of the Seamasters is now well known and documented. I wasn't, however, aware of this latest change to the bracelets - using screws instead of hi-tensile pins and slip tubes - which is just another disappointing step backwards. The strap on your watch also has laser etched, rather than engraved, markings on the clasp. The strap you have is no better than that supplied on the supposedly inferior but certainly a lot cheaper Asian movement version of this watch, which is available for less than half the price. I suppose the dealers can only supply what is being made, but pricing this watch higher than the previous 'best' SMPs is a bit off. I do not like the way things are going with Omega ETA based reps - prices are going up (+$100 with some models) while quality goes down.
