Unfortunately you are not going to be able to get just that part on its own as it should be attached to the clasp. First thing is check to see if it is still in with the packaging for the watch. If so you might be able to get a jeweller to weld it back on. If not then you will have to buy a complete clasp. There are OEM ones on ebay all the time. Unfortunately they are 'generic' ie. will not carry the Omega branding, but you can dismantle it and use the parts to repair your existing rep on. Alternatively you can source a complete new clasp from Cousins (UK) or OFrei (US), but that will be expensive. Best option is give Andrew a shout - he should rectify this as the watch arrived in this condition. Sending out a new rep clasp would be the easiest option for him I imagine.

HEY! I asked you about this weeks ago

On a related subject, I think I've just GOTTA get my new 090 relumed.... I thought I didn't like it at first, but I'm catching the bug...
-
Yup! The 'mushroom' that gets held between the lugs of the clasp spring is missing. You can see this clearly from the pictures - the hole is where the rivet would have gone through to hold the mushroom in place. This was a not uncommon problem with other Semaster reps. The good news with them is that OEM/genuine clasp parts fit those reps. If you are lucky the same will be true of the PO, and it is a worthwhile upgrade as it'll avoid you losing the watch off your wrist completely. The piece you are missing is visible in the foreground of this pic...

Mine came from Angel & Jay (Silix) but it looks 100% identical to your picture, including the quick-set date button and the dial print. I'll try to take some pics if I get a minute. It does look and feel a great watch though, and I've got to admit it is growing on me...

I just got one of these 090 Power Reserve models yesterday. The movement is an Asian but based on the 2892 rather than the Miyotas we normally see. It's my first PAM and I've got to say I am underwhelmed. There's nothing wrong with the watch - it is visually a superb replica and on its own feels substantial and high quality. I guess with all the Panerai hysteria I was expecting to be blown away by it...

I have very high hopes for the new guy. Some people don't like change so will always prefer the guy they knew first, but Daniel Craig is matched only by Dalton as the best ACTOR to play the part (not including David Niven's outing, which doesn't count).

Just to keep things updated - mine and Jon's are in transit. Should be delivered today/tomorrow providing the missus doesn't go out to the shops when the postal van comes round.

Finally got around to ordering mine.....

It isn't a rumour. I can confirm that both a 45mm Planet Ocean with black bezel and rubber strap, AND a Seamaster Professional 300m GMT with blue face and bezel will be featured in the movie.
-
I preferred the Pavoni coffee machine from that movie. Especially when, after going to all the palaver of making his boss a cup, M asks Bond "Is that all it does?"
-
I got confirmation today. It IS the GMT version of the blue Seamaster that will be used in the movie, along with the Planet Ocean for the action/stunt shots. Think I'll stick with my plain one for now - a rep with a pretend GMT movement using a 2836 doesn't really appeal to me, and the dial looks too fussy anyway. Oh, and how misaligned is that bezel insert in the picture (genuine, too!!!)
-
Absolutely awful. Exactly what I expected when I heard of the Ferrari/Panerai tie-up. What BS!! The Girard-Perregaux produced range was classy and individual. These look like indistinguished, parts-bin specials. The pushers are clearly designed to appeal to those people who really wanted a "Ferrari Daytona".

You said what I was thinking, Colonel! Remember way back when people said there were no good quality Asian reps of ETA movements??

Leaving for Italy tomorrow--what should I bring?

Couldn't have put it better. I've travelled into and out of Italy so many times I have lost count (I hold Italian citizenship). Many times I've had at least one rep on my wrist and several in my luggage. I've bought reps there (before I found this place) and encouraged (but now discourage) others to do so. I've even befriended the vendors, jovially told them their watches were rubbish but I'd keep buying their leather belts and wallets if the quality held up (as I said, backdoor of the factory stuff). I know Italian policemen, minor politicians and other persons of good standing who have bought reps. Never been fined yet, and none of my extensive group of family, friends and acquaintances know anyone who has been pulled for it either... 36 years and counting..... -

Italy ain't as cheap as it used to be (thanks to the confusion over the Euro) but it ain't that expensive. My trips there still practically pay for themselves with the booze I bring back (my friends wonder why I have such a big car for just me and the missus...) I remember in the last years of the Lira (3000 to the £) going to Venice and living like a king.... If it is REALLY expensive you are looking for, try anywhere in Scandinavia, or Iceland. -

The watches are rubbish, but Rome is a good place to find ultra convincing Louis Vuitton bags, allegedly coming out the back door of the Italian leather factories where the real ones are made.... -

RUBBISH! I read in a newspaper once that there was a double-decker bus on the moon. I take it the watch magazine contained a large amount of advertising for Rolex et al (no vested interest there then...) The only reported incident like this was when some daft tourist bought a pair of replica sunglasses from a street vendor. No custodial sentence was passed - in fact I think a small fine was levied (and probably pocketed by the arresting officer). YES, there is a maximum sentence for dealing in fake goods, but you'd have to be daft to buy the crap they sell on the streets in Italy anyway.... -

Don't panic the man. That is as likely as the Scottish Police locking you up for smoking in public when the ban comes in... To be honest the Italian general populace will be more impressed with the Breitling. Panerai had a fad following in Italy a few years ago, but most Italians now know the brand is as Italian as Chicago Deep Pan pizzas. Oh, and it's a mistake to visit Milan after Florence - I guarentee after the beauty of the Tuscan capital you will be sorely disappointed. -
Don't want to spoil it for you. All I'll add is that the story is pretty close to the original Ian Fleming book but brought right up to date - very contemporary storyline. Also, there's a scene near the end that will have the guys in the audience wincing, but again if you know the book that isn't a great secret. Did someone mention squidgy balls in another thread?
-
I'm obviously not hinting strongly enough. The Planet Ocean is DEFINITELY in the movie - the shots are 'in the can'. So far I haven't confirmed if the Seamaster Pro is definitely there too, but from what I can make out from the 'in the sea' spy shots there were cameramen and sound guys in the water with the actors, which suggests the SMP is making an appearance too. As far as I know, no gadgets though. Also, there's a line in the (draft) script where the leading Bond girl (played by Eva Green) asks Bond if its a Rolex he's wearing. His reply - "No, it's an Omega...." Very clever blatant product placement, but I don't want to give too much of the story away by saying the question is relevant to the female character's role in the movie....
-
Ah, yes. Dell Deaton. The man who keeps getting it wrong. Who do you think it was put him right. Go check the official Omega webpage featuring the James Bond Collection. According to Dell Deaton the SMP GMT was taken off the page as a result of his threats to file a claim for false advertising. Well, guess what - they put it back after he stopped obsessively bombarding them with emails, hence the GMT rumour.... Dell Deaton makes the Paneristi appear laid back. Read that blog and see if you can spot the sour grapes. @Rolexman - nobody said Bond only had to wear one watch per movie
-
OK, so it is pretty common knowledge now that new Bond actor Daniel Craig has been spotted on set filming his action shots wearing a black Omega Planet Ocean rubber strap model. He has even turned up at the publicity events wearing the same watch. (I won't crow too much about how it was myself who broke the news in the 'old' forum, and to the mi6.co.uk 007 fansite, beating their resident watch expert to the news and making him look a twit in the process when they front paged his exclusive that it was going to be a DeVille model, forcing him to back track on his own website. Anyhoo...) My spies in the camp have sent me this pic from the set (the full picture and others from the scene can be viewed at evagreenweb.com Looks like the good old blue SMP is making a comeback, although the rumour is it is in fact the GMT model this time...
