  1. Talking of the bracelet, I brought this issue up in my earlier (crappier) thread regarding this same watch. There is one screw-bar in the bracelet holding the claps/flip-lock section, and I advise any owner of one of these reps to remove this screw and reset it using thread-lock as otherwise the movement of the flip-lock when putting on/taking off the watch will eventually loosen the screw. At best you will lose the screw and at worst the watch will come off your wrist and hit the floor. If you are unfortunate enough to lose the screw then visit your local opticians and ask for a selection of screws for holding nose-pads onto wire-frame spectacles. You will probably have to shorten the replacement but one will fit.
  2. Yep. but only when driving through Chelsea...
  3. Hah! Same as mine then......
  4. River quoted me $250. I thought it was a lot at the time, but then I was an idiot at the time....
  5. What's with these 'old skool' Seamasters coming out the closet again all of a sudden??!! No complaints here though (except that I hesitated at the time and missed them..) I could look at these all day, but the drool will wreck my keyboard. PS. I'd agree about the TAG Link chrono BTW!!!

    Omega 007

Mmmm - gorgeous. Still one of the best reps ever made!!
  7. Ha! Reminds me of the time I drove past a bus shelter that had all its plate glass shattered by vandals. At one end of the shelter was one of those cabinets for putting posters in. Guess what the poster was for.... (PS. Sorry for resurrecting old thread, I've been away...)
  8. Three weeks passed in a blink. I guess I must be a jinx though - Missed my scheduled ferry so arrived in Dunkerque at 1 am... I was on the Rue De Rivoli in Paris for the Tour de France finale , and the winner gets exposed as a cheat.. Managed to wreck the clutch on my car maneouvering out of the car park of the Paris hotel. Oh, and why is it Italian tollgates are STILL totally inadequate for the volume of traffic pasing through them...?? You would think they'd want the money.. Anyway - watches... The most Panerai I saw was the 090 on my wrist. Italians still love Rolex and that will never change. I was fortunate enough to be in the company of a drinks baron - a Mr Nardini, who was wearing, guess what, a Ulysee Nardin! Three days in Monaco were an eye-opener - a world apart. Zegg & Cerlati relegate Panerai to a little side window - even Omega get more prominence in their shops.
  9. There is another option here - I can pick it up in Paris and take on to Italy, back through Monaco, then return it to Scotland and pass it to Edge?! Need to sort it fast as I'm leaving tomorrow....
  10. [censored]! The Romans were building roads while the natives of America were still living outdoors...
  11. Thanks guys. Here's what I got.. Plus lunch at a Michelin-starred restaurant. PS. The next Planet Ocean I buy will be a gen..!
  12. Hey Pug. Where is the watch destined afterwards? I am going to be in Paris Friday to Sunday coming, then heading to Italy for two weeks before passing back through Monaco, so if you want to do a hand pass-on....
  13. Back on topic.. Contrary to the common belief around this forum A7750 chrono's are repairable at reasonable cost. RMcSherry - you have a PM....
  14. Power reserve on a gen 7750 is quoted at 36 hours max for the 28,800 bph, which is lower than typical for a non-chrono like the 2824 (40+). The fast beat rep should match this and in my experience it does. The slower beat (crap) reps might last a little longer than this or just about match it with the modified subdial. The fast beat ones with the modified subdial will suffer as a result...
  15. 3 weeks Time kept ticking but the chrono broke (see elsewhere for details), but I was deliberately giving them some stick. Now repaired and fully serviced so we shall see...
  16. You beat me to the point. Why is everyone gasping for a 7750 version which everyone knows will suck because the date will be wrong with no way to fix it, plus replacement movements will be hard to get and difficult to fit. I think I'd rather have the quartz, in the colour scheme doc has posted. PS. The He valve is REALLY going to screw with some people's heads this time - it's LOWER than the 10 o'clock marker on the chrono...
  17. For me it's about owning something that is genuinely good value for money. For the price of my reps I could have the same or inferior case and band quality and/or quartz movements. I once paid £300 for what was at the time a trendy 'fashion' watch. I kept it 10 years and then managed to bin it on ebay for £50. It was well made, but passé. Where else can I get a 2824 movement, solid link strap and solid SS case for £90?! Where else can I get a reliable and good looking but ultimately disposable SS auto for £30?
  18. Indeed. His shop/workshop is full of guages, milling machines, miniature lathes and devices I couldn't even identify. He's a genuine watchmaker. not a parts swapper like many others who carry the name. The fact he crafted a spare part from scratch tells me that.
  19. What Pug said. It's actually not the worst movement in the world by a fairly long stick. I've got one of these with a power reserve module in an 090 and it is the second most accurate auto watch I own...
  20. That was my reason for thinking this was a rip-off. AFAI can tell standard on-line shopping software is being used, so all someone would need to recreate the site very quickly is a copy of the database...
  21. Yes, it would, if you could get hold of one.... I am starting to think that there would be a MASSIVE market in vinyl stick-on datewheel overlays for our reps.
  22. Is anyone else's take on this story that in fact someone has pirated the Aspire site and is having a laugh. There are plenty glory seeking weirdos out there who see us all as fair game. For another example take a look at the emails Neil's been getting....
  23. Weren't the owners of the Klaus Kobec/Zeitner brands investigated for defrauding the UK government or something?
  24. He said "lovely [censored]". (titter)
