  1. Hi guys. I want to get my dad a nice watch for Christmas. He isn't really into them like we are, but will appreciate it. I was going back and forth between gen and rep but I think I want to get him a gen for around $500. He has a large wrist 8.5" and prefers leather or Nato any suggestions?
  2. Thanks auto. I'm going to try and smooth the dial seat and then touch up the dial edge with some matte paint. It's not a gen dial so no biggie. I suppose this can happen to gens as well.
  3. Got my caliper. All measurements are correct but it appears I may have chipped some of the paint off the edge of the dial when installing it (spinning movement around when attaching movement screws) any tips or tricks to touch up the edges of dial? I was thinking some matte paint or a sharpie just to hide the exposed brass..
  4. thank you for the detail Auto. I will be picking up a digital caliper to figure out what's going on.
  5. Nice work here mike. Might be sending you my 5513 before I destroy it with my tinkering...
  6. thanks D! I think dial may be thin. Going to try to reinstall dial After adding dial dots. Only problem, I've never removed hands and dial from a movement before.... I have to study up is it difficult?
  7. Thanks guys. Just realized rehaut is part of case....duh. Im going to live with it for now until I get a deal on gen dial and hands... Got the dial centered a bit better so not as noticeable.
  8. Dial is seated properly. It just has the slightest bit of play inside the rehaut. It's either rehaut to to big or dial to small. Anyone know where I can pick up a 5513 rehaut to see if that fixes it?
  9. I suppose that's a possibility. Not sure if it's the dial or rehaut that's off. Hoping one of the modders can chime in. Dial is unknown on gen 1520. Case and rehaut are yuki
  10. Hi guys. I'm nit picking here, but there is about a mm gap around the edge of dial and rehaut, that at certain angles you can see the brass of movement. I tried to capture in pics but it's tough is this normal or do I need a better rehaut? Thanks in advance for the info
  11. This is the the guys who has posted several topics across the fora "why won't the factories make an updated seawolf avenger 2" he beat the topic to death and I guess they had enough.....
  12. how much do these typically sell for? What year did Rolex start printing submariner above depth rating?
  13. thanks D! Please do Might as well go all in!
  14. Thanks for all the help guys! I got it working!!! took some finesse and tweaking the screw that holds the stem in place, which by the way you need a very small screwdriver.. thanks. I like the dial as well since I was going for around 1981 5513. not sure if stem is aftermarket Came on the donor watch/crown. I then put it on your gen crown. Here is latest pic on the wrist!
  15. hi guys. I was originally trying to sell this but then decided to go the other way and put a gen movement in it.....further down the rabbit hole... I got a good deal on a gen 1520 movement over on the geek. $1000 for movement with decent dial and hands already installed Should be an easy swap I thought. http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=260329&p=2725413#post2725413 Arrived today, working well, I pulled it from the donor watch, and installed it into my dbane case. Fits like a glove and looks great imo now for the problem, i can't get the crown stem back into the movement, and movement isn't running.. any tips or tricks I should be aware of? Thanks in advance with any help
