  1. I believe it's all down to money, gyms can cram a place up with all these isolation movement machines like bicep curls, pec deck, chest press, leg press etc. Trainees can work out just a few metes away from each other. The apparatus prevents accidents and keeps the place in order. So what end up happening is that multiple trainees can work out concurrently on a machine, basically swap seats between sets, you only have to adjust the seating and the weights by pulling out and re-inserting the pin. Compare that to kettlebells. Some guy doing kettlebell swings with 30GK. You better keep your distance, at least 3-4 minutes from the front. As people work out their hands get sweaty and these kettlebell ballistic movements become more hazardous. Kettlebells are more dangerous to have if people work in close proximity to each other, and utilisies much more floor space than isolation muscle machines. And lets not forget that it's very easy for anyone to buy some kettlebells and use them at home. So the gym is probably reluctant to use them as people get hooked onto kettlebells and decide to spend the years gym membership fee on some home kettlebells.
  2. i like fancy watches, but this is way too big. I have word fiddy, and graham chronomaster, both are "big" watches, but they're shaped in a way that it feels and looks a lot smaller than it actually is. This watch seems to be wide and slim, and looks huge. I'm not sure if these measurement markets on the rotating bezel are actually off any use to a modern day pilot/mariner as they are probably more likely to use electronic devices than use the bezel.
  3. I'm tempted to think that this is a complete gimmick, but I was so wrong when they launched the ipad and I was expecting it to be a complete failure. One of the problem though is that a watch is as much jewellery as a functional time keeping device, and because of that people tend to prefer to wear a variety of different styles. We've all been there, we bought a watched that we thought we'd stay in love with forever and a few weeks of wearing it non=stop and we start shuffling watches around again. A device like this is likely to end up being used for crucial functions, and there lies the problem, you become dependant on your watch phone but at the same time familiary breeds contempt and you're locked down to wearing an "ugly" device around your wrist at all times.
  4. there's a sucker born every minute, can't believe people are bidding over a grand already. I say if you're that foolish, you deserve to be scammed.
  5. Hi I'm thinking of procuring a sapphire crystal for my seiko monster, and popping out the hardlex in the process as well. In the past I've successfully regulated watched from 1m+/- to 5s +/-, I've also dropped movements in order to reattach hands after they've come loose, and I was wondering whether I could pop out the crystal myself and attach a sapphire, or whether it's better to leave this job to the pros.
  6. I opened up my BCE a couple of times to reattach the hands that kept falling off for a while, as a result I've lost the tiny screws and flat rectangle pieces with holes in them which keep the movement from moving around. I have one left and the stem does a good job of holding the movement in place when it's closed, however when I unscrew the crown, the movement and dial wobbles a bit inside the case. I'm sure these minor parts should be easily found in the open market, any recommendations on where I can get it from?
  7. Thanks for the suggestion. I had a second look at seikoboy's collection. I'm not really a fan, he has some nice looking dials, but they'll get quite boring as time goes on, they're too simple. I tend to go for chronos because the dials are a lot busier, I know it's not to everyones taste. But unless I can find a textured dial I'm going to stick to the stock dial. Although a sapphire crystal could be in the works.
  8. obviously they've taken some inspiration from the graham chronofighter and trigger
  9. damn..that's awesome!! completely customised watch for a very good price.
  10. Look awesome, how much did it set you back altogether, and where did you get the dial and hands from?
  11. thanks for the feedback. I decided that trying to get a sapphire crystal in there asap is probably me just geeking out. Given that the hardlex crystal probably has no resell value and the sapphire improvement on the monster is most likely to be a barely noticable affair. I'll hang on to the current crystal and then upgrade when it gets particularly roughed up.
  12. I just got my seiko black monster delivered today, immediately went out to maplin and bought a link tool to remove some extras. And the watch is sized perfectly now and feels great. Everything about the watch is great I'm not going to rag on about any of the ususal stuff, this watch has been reviewed to death everywhere. The only think i dont like about it is the hardplex glass, I would have liked a sapphire flat or very slight dome crystal like the way the graham chronofighter uses. Obviously with chief AR, has anyone got any suggestions on what sapphire crystal would be the perfect fit for the orange monster.. Much appreciated.
  13. I'm finding reps too much of a burden, there's always some "faults" with the watches, most typically the blue AR, or movementment breakdowns from 7750s or poor timekeeping in general. Or lack of water resistance etc. I'm going to start selling some of my reps, and I've already ordered a seiko orange monster and a mech bracelet from the states. Hopefully I'll just like the orange monster straight out of the case, and won't have any nagging thoughts about imprefections that flare up after a few months or weeks of owning the watch. Also if I do go down the mod route, and get a sapphire cyrstal installed on the orange monster, and get the chief AR on it, I wouldn't have to worry about customs and other crap. I won't have to worry about visiting Italy or Switzerland wearing my seiko etc.
  14. a overflowing shopping trolly to represent prosperity, the people's republic of china getting wealthy by peddling consumer goods all across the globe. Who would have saw that coming?
  15. Got it from another member of a different rep forum for
  16. Are these worth buying right now? Interested in buying a Trigger with date, some of them look quite nice. And would like to take the plunge. Thanks
  17. sorry, i cannot help, I'm in the UK and I have never hads goods retained by customs before.. All I can sy is that the dealer is stupid to send the watches in one big package, he should know by now that single wathes go through customs much easier than a package of 5 watches which look more suspicious, and potentially commercial in nature.
  18. they probably know`whatds in it already by laser scan
  19. it depends really Big watches recently [2,3 years ago] have come into fashion. I have a 7" wrist, and my daily beater is a 42mm bce I also wear my graham which is a 45.5mm without any probs, it's a bit chunky and weighty to wear as a daily beater though, there was a time when I only had the graham and wore iot every day. I wouldn't recommend wearing your best watches every day because you start to grow tired of them.
  20. question for you guys, does the look and feel of these leather jackets change over time?
  21. metaljesus, the un-symettrical look is ever so slight on the pictures, and you could pass it off as bad angle photo or somthing. But in real life it was far more pronounced and always seemed like a flaw than a fashion quirk to me. Maybe I'm just too conventional for this little eccentricity. I wouldn't mind if it was like the brown jacket and was supposed to be unsymettrical, because it was so obvious, but the one I had looked like a flaw. I thought I'd given up on these jackets, however bought another one I like this, the once I receive looks different than the one pictures. Based on the jackets I had and returned, I've noticed the differing quality of leather, I've had one in lamb skin and two in sheep skin, the lamb skin is very thin and almost feel like it could be fake because I've never seen leather so thin, the sheep skin is a bit thicker and is denser in appearance. I have reason to belive that the jacket pictured is lamb skin, but they actually give you sheep skin. I've noticed that they took off giving the leather name in the spec, All in all, I like this jacket, and will be keeping it, and buying some more in future.
  22. want to send some watches over to chief to get AR'd, anyone know how to tell them apart? because I don't want to send a mineral crystal and have it sent back.
  23. I'm not surprised, if you google any reputable watch brand you just get lots of rep sellers coming up. For every gen sold, there must be at least a hundred reps sold.
  24. It;s really hard for me to grasp this, but apparantly there are gen swiss movements in watches in the
