  1. Not often....rule of thumb, SELL on EBay and BUY somewhere else.....at least when it comes to the actual watch. I've bought genuines on TZ, worn them for a year or so, then sold on EBay for a very nice profit. I've seldom seen a truly good buy on a fine watch on Ebay, but, every once in a while you can get a gem on the WIS sites.
  2. Man, those are beautiful! I've owned quite a few genuines and IMOP they are the best value, or use to be the best value, in a fine watch. The Monte Carlo is the ultimate version. I've got to build myself one eventually.
  3. Marty,

Got the PP V2 and I'm VERY pleased! Not to mention lickety-split shipping too!

    BIG thanks my friend!

  4. Just find yourself a good/reliable watchmaker and keep them oiled/serviced. I've run most of mine 24/7/365 for YEARS without a single failure. However, I keep the movements properly lubricated and I get the "good one's" serviced every 2 - 2.5 years +/-.......
  5. Amen Lewis, you and I are a lot alike. I've owned over a dozen 7750 based chrono's and a couple of Zenith based and not ONE problem........EVER. In fact, I keep the chrono running 24/7/365 most of the time with all of them and, once again, never one problem. IMOP, in regards to quality chronograph movements, if you don't run them periodically you WILL have problems. Now, as for rep chrono movements, I'd say the 10 second rule is a very good one.
  6. I bought 6 watches from Josh for myself and a couple of buddies in one transaction a couple of years ago. (I'd probably purchased 3 or 4 before that from him) One was a ICHS GMT II and when it arrived the rotor was loose and apparantly had never been locked in place as it was just sitting there bouncing around when I opened the case. I emailed Josh and less than one week later I had a brand new modified ETA movement in my hands, at no cost. He's the best in my book.
  7. Excellent points and all true, but, you tick off the right people and enough of em' your risking creating a lot of UNnecessary problems for a LOT of people. IF enough pressure were exerted our lil' hobby could be altered in ways that certainly wouldn't be positive. Plus, WHY antagonize when it's NOT necessary nor even "good form." (I don't know why anyone would brag about the quality of a rep on a genuine watch forum anyway, makes a person looks like an I D I O T when they do it) IMOP
  8. I've owned many genuines in my 26 years of collecting watches. (still own 3) The quality of the best reps continues to amaze me and I now have several good one's which I enjoy just as much as a genuine. What this guy needs to understand is this, when you go on a site inhabited by collectors of genuine watches (many of whom I occasionally visit) and start pointing out that the reps nowadays are virtually as good as their genuine article (in some cases they are virtually as good from a mechanical/looks standpoint) and which they paid a LOT more money to acquire your not going to stir up any "pleasant" feelings. As a result, ALL that can occur are problems for the rep collector, etc. IMOP there is simply NEVER a good reason to poke a stick at a rattle snake. IF the good folk's that inhabit the genuine forums and who've invested a LOT of money in their watches start REALLY complaining to Rolex/Panerai/Omega, etc. these same manufactures can make a huge stink as they have the money/time/lawyers to do so, IF they really want to do so. I KNOW a LOT of genuine collectors and they are none to pleased about the "quality" rep's arrival into the marketplace and I'd imagine the makers of these same watches feel likewise.
  9. Fxr, unfortunately you can't legislate/dictate intelligence and common sense........this guy shows a remarkable lack of both IMOP......a lot of IMmaturity too.......
  10. I owe ya' Nick.......I'm beyond thrilled!
  11. I recently purchased this watch from a member here a couple of weeks ago. www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=35247&hl= When set side by side with a mid 90's 16613 it was indistinguishable. I'm sure with a loop and some time a small difference or two could be determined, but, without one it's not. IF not for the difference in the caseback we might have inadvertantly switched them. I have NO idea where the original builder/owner sourced the parts and the band, but, this band is DEAD ON. I'm currently on the search for a 3035 movement!
  12. ONE thing I'm not sure that we've thought about is this....... With the intro of the quality Panerai reps, that have sold and sold and sold...... the entire "rep market" has ridden the Pannie rep coattails.......meaning, IMOP, ALL reps have improved, or are improving, in quality/authenticity........seems the Chinese KNOW a good deal when they see one and are TRYING to improve almost all "make" of rep watches.......at least manufacture "quality" copies of Rolex/Omega/Panerai/IWC and after they realize the flaws.....improve them...... I NEVER thought I'd see a Rolex/Panerai copy that I couldn't spot from 3' away.......but NOT anymore with some of them.......the 111's......PO's......GMT's......they are gettin' damn close IMOP....... So, IMOP, even if you don't care much for Panerai's you should be thankful they came along......
  13. Got the same watch from a different seller......same experience........great watch!
  14. Listed as "aftermarket" and NO Rolex on anything.......Rolex can't do a thing as long as their "trademark" isn't violated.....and from what I can see it isn't.......but a 7750 at his prices has to be a copy.....
  15. If you haven't noticed......your now floating in a raft having been booted OFF the island.....
  16. I got it this morning......shows a fake transaction on your Pay-Pal account involving "Luxury Watches".......which you obviously didn't do and then a "dispute this transaction" button........then asks for a shitload of information which conveniently contains your credit card #'s, etc......... Folk's, this thing looks very, very real......almost spooky......and a person could easily be fooled......be careful!
  17. Probably because they can "modify" the 2836 for GMT functions, etc........
  18. Man, I've NEVER had a problem with any of my Tudor chronos.....and I run the chrono 24/7/365......thats what they are for........to run.......
  19. Riveted Oyster genuine to this watch?? No pics of the clasp?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-RED-SUBMARINER_W...1QQcmdZViewItem
  20. Personally I think that is one COOOOl lookin' timepiece!
  21. Get some "Oxi-Clean" and mix it in HOT water......repeat every 5 - 10 minutes with fresh HOT water and fresh soap.......in 2 hours you'll have the coolest looking watch you've ever seen! IMOP
  22. Doesn't matter where its built.........Movement, movement, movement......its ALL in the movement......(as I'm sure you know).......pay the extra bucks if you can and get a quality movement....ETA, etc......OR buy a watch that you can easily swap out the movements......then learn where O'frei is.......
  23. I think its a beautiful watch.......don't know why they cannot figure out a way to make quartz act like an auto........
