  1. Sorry, Applewave is a dealer who sells low-end watches for about $40-60. Given the price and look of the Panerai, I wondered if that was who you'd bought it from. If you google his name, an auction site is one of the first results. They're the dealer who I bought my fiance's J12 and my 2531.80 project watch from. I've seen him get bad reviews on other forums, but I've found him (as a person) very nice and professional to do business with. Sure, the watches aren't fantatic, but for $60, I wasn't expecting a 1:1 rep :D

Hmmm, I see. I checked it and yes it pretty cheap what is sells but that was not my source...

Mine was a "one time" chinese seller of eBay (that disappeared the day after after I contact him).

He sent me to a crazy site with all the watches that he could get and I poked twice: maybe one of the reps could have been not to bad, but the idea was to get them in hands to actually touch the difference with our dealers watches.

The kind of site I visited looked like this : http://www.pickyourgoods.com/productdisplay.php?sortid=3

Having said that the bracelets of the Rolex are quite good. Spare parts at least ;-)

Stay tuned I have a nery very bad rep of a B&M Capeland S for later

  2. My goodness, that is a beautifull collection and again great pictures as usual.

But I see a problem here Pug :whistling:

    No I'm serious:

The IWC GST chrono that I'm trying to stay away from .... YOU MADE ME WANT IT TOO !

    :bicycle:

    Congratulations for this huge collection,

    Cheers

  3. I don't think we are taking money away from genuine brands. If people can afford gens they will buy them. I never thought of purchasing an expensive watch until I started buying reps. I am now considering the purchase of my first Breitling.

I fully agree with you: I will soon stop reps for a while and get my self a gen Sub 16610 pre-owned.

I would never have spend 3k in a Sub a year ago.

  4. The gens I would get :thumbsupsmileyanim: Let's dream a bit!

None of these ones should loose their initial values.

  5. I met Paul and Linda in 1975 in Hawaii. He was renting a house in Koko Head for a month, which was down the street from my house. My buddies and I were at this place called the point smoking doobies when they walked up from the beach and said hello. Over the next month we met again a few times. I even helped pull Paul out of the water when the waves got a little big. I was around 17 then and it was most memorable, impressive and exciting.

Great ! At least he wasn't yet SIR Paul and probably more relax...

  6. If he made watches then maybe he would consider creating a line of reps to RWG specs. Maybe you could explore this with him.

    Usil

Yes that is sure, you should explore that.

I'm sure there is a market for 99,9999999% reps if they stay under 500$

After all, for non chronos at least, if it's possible to make them so close, it should be possible to make exactly the same, isn't it.

    Nice story

    Thanks for sharing Steve

PS: if you want a tour in Belgium I'm afraid we have no scotch but only beers :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  7. If I can find the time I will, there are so many variations on the Miyota copy, I do have some old Asian copies here, but not sure if they are the same models as in this model, or any of the newer ones out there... I dont' get any Asian copies in for service.

    @Ziggy,

If it helps I have open the GMT and the movement in it looks exactly the same as the one I have in a Sub I bought for 40$ and that doesn't work.

Maybe I can give it to you ? The only think is that I would like to keep the sub (even without the movement). If you want it , let me know and it's yours.

    @By-Tor

I like the Bond bracelet, you're right it looks much better than the other one that looks a little "cheap" to me now that I see your last pic.

    Great job.

    Thanks again.

    Cheers

  8. I've been looking at these too...(seems like I should start to work 24/7 to get enough budget for all these babies :o )

Which one would you recommend in terms of accurancy ?

I see there are black bezels and steel bezels...

    Thanks for your advice.

    Cheers

  9. Stephane,

Does your GMT have a Swiss movement and correct hand length?

    Jim

    Hi Jim,

    No and No

I opened it and it's an asian 21.

It is thus the exact same watch as reviewed by By-tor.

One remark: I won't try to regulate the time at all on this one as it is 5 seconds too fast in 48 hours (very impressive for a 100$ watch no ?)

    Cheers
