  1. Very well done pictures of a nice watch! I like the lume shot. :)

Interesting to see that you got a ETA 2834-2 movement... I guess that is similar to the more common 2824-2 and 2836-2.

Date mag is a bit too small for my taste, but I am sure that lot of people will find it correct.

hmmm, interresting indeed. I didn't even check that ;-)

what I can say is that it's not yet keeping good time...+ 15 secs/day and though I try to fine tune it, it doesn't seem to change it.

I'll keep trying for another week though...

    Cheers

  2. Hi all,

I received my so called perfect submariner some days ago and for 149$, I'm pretty sure one couldn't find better.

As I'm not an expert at all, I will not say anything about the flaws as I might even don't see them.

One became obvious after seing the pics: insert, but I even missed it with the loup !

Here are the pics: it took me an entire a day of reading posts to achieve my first pics publishing.

I learned that I needed a tripod, that I should host the pics outside of the board, and so on.

I might be better at pics one day as I'm not done yet with readings ;-)

The Lume pic is very hard...

Note that I wear it daily so light scratches are visible of course.

    Cheers

  3. Im thinking of ordering either a "Perfect" or "Ultimate" Submariner from either TrustyTime or PerfectClones but before i spend the $400 i need some help. I have heard of scary stories of custom confiscating or charging fees in order to get the watch into the US. Im really scared that the watch will never make it to me and i will be out $400. Im located in Houston, TX and want to know what is the process one goes through if customs does decide they want to charge fee, i.e. whats the tax/fee one must pay for a $400 watch? What have been the experiences you all have gone through? Whats the best way to make sure the watch gets to me? Any words to comfort my doubts are appreciated. :wounded1:

    Hi there,

We all have several watches from various dealers which means that customs are possible to cross for reps.

I only have one stuck in customes of Belgium right now.

    It's part of the game.

I would advice that you carrefully read reviews about subs though: I have several and just got the "So called perfect" from Paul (wo-mart) last week.

I paid it 149$ only and honestly, I am very very happy with it. Though Andrew is my favourite dealer, I think that 400$ is way too much and I'm not sure his utimate or perfect is that better then my "so called perfect". Paying more gives us the impression it's better, but it's not allways the case.

I intend to post a topic about this.

Conclusion: if you enter the exiting world of replica you should be aware that it is an illegal game.

    Cheers

  4. I was lucky to find a watchmaster to work with reps.

He works in the same city than I live, so I see him very often.

He can remove a rolex dial feet to adjust them to eta movement, has a lot of tools and services eta by dissambling the whole movement.

    Aint expensive at all.

    Hi All,

If one of you knows someone in Belgium it would be great to let us know :thumbsupsmileyanim: .

We can't allways send to Ziggy unfotunately ;-)

    Cheers

  5. OK all. I tallied up the responses and this is what we have. Right now, 46 people are interested with a total of 51+ watches.

Here's the list, in the order I read them. If I left you off, I apologize, just copy this list and reply to keep a running tally. If I noted something incorrect, or if your status changes from questionable to certain, again, just copy the list and post with edits to keep an up-to-date running tally.

Hope I didn't step on anyone's toes by pulling this together.

  6. I keep my crack pipe stowed away. But I wear my reps with pride.

    Dude, relax.

When you really think about it, as a percentage of the population of the planet, very few people give a [censored] about you. Even fewer care about your watch.

Of the very few who care about your watch. only a tiny fraction would ever be able to tell whether it's fake or not. I guess if you tell them it's fake, they'll have no choice but to believe you, but then again if you said "This is a Patek Sky Moon Tourbillon and can you believe I shelled out twenty three hundred [censored]ing dollars for it?" Most will say, "Wow, that's a lot of money for a watch."

Only a tiny of fraction of those who care about your watch and can tell its fake will be Federal Customs Officials or of council to of Rolex, S.A.

None of the Federal Customs officials who care about your watch and who can identify it as a replica can do a damn thing about it. The Rolex lawyer will undoubtedly demand you take it off, to which you should in turn demand that he "pucker up, sweetheart."

Some folks around here (claim to) blurt out "IT's A FAKE!!!" every time someone tells them, "nice watch," but me I just say, "thanks" which seems to satisfy them (One person, though, in an AD, behind the counter, quite accusingly I might add, said "wow, I haven't seen one of those in a long time," which I took to mean "IT's A FAKE!!!" but I managed to escape without handcuffs) and even if it didn't it's not illegal in any way shape or form to own a rep.

But don't take my word for it: The relevent Federal statutes are have been recently cited on this forum.

I also see some (few) people saying "oh what a nice watch you are wearing" and that is it.

Why would someone care about me or my watch, I agree Archibald.

How it is in real life: no one really cares about the other, anyway.

99% of people we know do not even know what a Rolex looks like, in details (and for sure do not know that Officine Panerai is a watch and not a Farmacy)

When it comes to reps, I showed a sub rep to my official jeweller once.

I was a regular customer of him and bought a gen Bretiling, bought pearls for my wife (hopefully gen), had a diamond ring cleaned (he said oh it's an old one, looking at it as a piece of [censored], it was my mother fiance diamond ring, hoping I would put 10k in a new one).

His only comment about he sub rep I showed him for 53 seconds without saying it was fake or gen: "you can see it's fake because the second hand is not as smooth as a gen".

Idiot: it was a 28.800 Eta.

For the rest (dial, crown, crown guard, ...) he didn't even say anything.

So what I state here is that we all have fun dealing with reps...and it must stay a funny hobby.

The hobby beign collecting nice watches, with great movements (including asians) and giving some times better timeing than any gen would.

    Cheers

  7. I have no idea if MBW (vintage or modern) are that important in life that it should drive people crazy.

Once again, I'd love to get some (unless it puts me in the same kind of brain disorder :animal_rooster: )

But the one thing I am sure of, when reading this topic, is that only one person is going completely insane: Leo.

My god man, you must hate your own life, your wife if any or partner, your neigbour, your "friends", your cat or dog if any too, your current tie, your shoes, the sky and the see.

Remember: this is a game, a hobby, nothing else.

    Sure it's exiting...but still a hobby.

Go back to real life instead of being so agressive with TTK's visa or Pug's brother.

You seem to be an international businessman, a jet setter flying the world ...

Enjoy life, take some great Bordeaux, f*** as much as you can, but stop spoiling our pleasure to be here.

This is (should be) the end, beautifull friend, (should be) the end.

    Cheers

  8. first thanks to ziggyzumba for his very informative guide to the various movements out there (posted by jonthebhoy), it really hammered home the importance of looking after these reps even if they aren't gen

i have an Omega PO 42mm with a Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement coming soon from Andrew

    http://www.ttwristwatch.com/index.php?main...;products_id=25

my two questions are (assuming it looks to be a rep of good enough standard to care):

    1. with my very limited experience, is it worth me buying the correct tool and opening up the case and checking the movement against online pictorials? or will i just end up fitting the case back incorrectly and screwing up the job?

    2. how soon should i consider getting it serviced to ensure i get a good lifespan out of the movement? i suppose this depends on what the actions of question one find out about the movement ;)

    thanks for your advice

P.S. i am interested in getting into the mechanical details of movements and servicing if that has any bearing on your advice :)

    Hi Tester,

I bought some watches from him, and seriously, I can't imagine you would find anything else but an ETA.

How ever, if you ever want to buy case openers (Jaxa specially) please make sure you buy the highest quality.

I [censored]ed some case back of my Rolex using a cheap HK tool before getting Bergeon finaly.

    Cheers

  9. hello,

    @pugwash

i fully agree with you. i also wouldn´t like to bring my brother into trouble.

    @all

i talked these days with a well known dealer here on the board and he told me that he has got vintage mbw´s in the pipeline for good prices. they will be in stock (in about 3 months) like all other watches that he is selling, not in small batches. i think that this will stop the trouble about these mbw´s.

    best wishes

    olreon

    Hi All

4 Pug (I an not a dealer, and my brother is not a dealer. Maybe now you understand why)

I'd love to get the same Sub as you Pug. But I also fully agree with you, I wouldn't put my bro or sis in this kind of deal.

4 Olreon (...they will be in stock (in about 3 months) like all other watches that he is selling, not in small batches. )

Well that is great news. Let's wait and leave Pug in peace now.

    Cheers

  10. Hmmm, I'm very new here but I am very exited about getting great watches.

As far as I'm concerned, I see a lot of great post, reviews, comments and so on.

But, for sure, I learned a lot from Pug, By-Tor and many other "experts".

Sorry to say for all those who disagree.

Conclusion: thanks for all you teached me guys.

    Stephane

  11. Hi All,

It sounds a good idea to find a trustable dealer in Europe or to have all dealers find a way to ship "a stock" to Europe and then ship out orders from here.

I have 4 watches in arrival from our trustable and nice but CN based dealers and the 1st one is stuck at customs since jan 30th...

My Omega Planet Ocean 45.5mm :bones:

My god, what a stress. Money is not a big issue: we all play a game and agree we can loose. But not getting the watch, aaaarghhh. :cc_hang:

I'll check out PT and Narikaa.

Thank you very much Pugwash for that information.

    Cheers

  12. Zenith's are great watches. I too wonder why we haven't seen a good chrono rep. a couple of years ago I picked up this one with faux chrono's. Considering when I purchased it, It's a handsome face and great bracelet, and I still wear it. Wish they would make it with working chrono's (even with the fake moonphase).

    post-15-1169668556_thumb.jpg

Reading all your repsponses, I guess we are numerous to wish a Zenith good replica.

Let's ask our respective dealers to try to come up with one. Who knows.

Having said that, I think that the one you got, RobertK, is very good looking.

Can you PM me and let me know where I can find one like that. I would be very gratefull. Thanks
