Maybe a slightly better shot. Hands match better in good, natural light. Not a perfect match but I can live with it. Different strap bring out color too.
Now just gonna hunt for a 6mm crown for 5.3mm tube.
This is very nice. And heck, I realize we have waaay to much $ invested in these reps but like I tell my wife, in a way I appreciate them more than my gens because of what goes into them! Lots of trial and error, blood, sweat, tears and finally, joy! Then start on the next one!
Thanks for the detailed feedback fellas. I opted for a Yuki for price purposes. I have a whoopy 1680 and 1665 dial but didn't want to put that much $ into this build. Now when the dial arrives I have a 2879 nos movt waiting for it. Just need to figure out how the date and day wheels are removed. Any tips on that?
Thanks Ihooq. I have my eyes out for something but only thing available right now is Yuki.. Must. Be. Patient. Ahhhhhh!

So I am loving my JMB 1016. I put different hour and minute hands on (much thinner) which improved the look a lot but I think now I want to go with a better dial. Was thinking Yuki but wanted to get folks opinions on best option shy if gen or NDT. I am thinking not a gilt but regular dial but with vintage lume.
I don't know if Yuki sells the assemblies only? I know they used to sell 1665 bezel assemblies but have not had those in stock for a long time. Don't know about 1680.
I would imagine most of us as watch geeks suffer some degree of obsessive compulsive disorder. For instance, today I was FINALLY able to get the date on my GW 1665 centered to my satisfaction (well, kind of). Over the past 2 weeks I have probably made 5 different attempts at this. No rational person would notice the difference in any. LOL
It is not bad. I am no Explorer expert by any standards but it looks to me the markers could all be a tad thinner? The stick markers look a little wide and the triangle a tad wide and or short. And maybe even a little thinning on the numeral font?
Admirable cause and work though as always. I might even be interested in a 1016!
The base is a PT case. A cartel assembly fits fine with minor mod to crystal but I just don't like the cartel bezel well enough. Although I do like it well enough to not drop another $300 plus on a replacement right now!
Thanks guys. Build specs on this one:
PT mid case and DRSD caseback. Softened edges and reworked CG's. I think the crown may be gen 703 but not entirely sure. I mixed my stock of crowns and had trouble telling gen from good aftermarket.
Cartel bezel assembly and insert (would love to replace this at some point. It is fully functional as is but I don't like the dull teeth. I think a better bezel would make a huge difference.
Aftermarket t-39 slightly shaved on bottom edge side to allow retaining ring to fit. Snug fit though and should be water resistant.
Eta 2846 movt
Yuki dial for Rolex movt with feet removed. Yuki hour and minute hand. Rep second hand (Yuki second hand is not good in shape)
