Thanks Nanuq! Yes, something extra satisfying about taking these things for a dip! Partly the beauty, partly the "see, I CAN make this watch water resistant!" :-)
Actually not a Whoopy dial! This was a prototype PT from some time back. One of the nicest rep 1665 dials I have seen (especially in the price range)! Better than the Whoopy which I sold because this one is better.
HEV is faux....sealed inside. I don't think I'll ever need it. Lol.
This seems completely crazy, but I love this combo for some reason. Literally a $5 strap on a $$ watch. Would anyone else wear this combo or is this crazy in your opinion?
So after several iterations and different movts etc I finally think I have her set for awhile. Just installed a brand new gen Swiss 2824 and been running perfectly since yesterday. Will waterproof her once she shows accurate and reliable service for a week or so.
That brought a smile to my face. Much needed today!
I have a Genuine 1665 for sale all gen Rolex except for:
Mid case
Caseback
Dial
Movement
Bracelet
Bezel assembly and insert
The rest is all Rolex! Looks like the market should bare about $5k.
Lol!
I am not mechanically inclined at all yet have repaired keyless works on an eta twice with only the internet as my guide. If I can do it? Anyone can. Just takes a little, ok, maybe a lot, of patience.
I didn't sand the retaining ring but rather the actual crystal. It is a bit too wide on the exterior for the retaining ring (I have a phong retaining ring and bezel) to slip over. The height is perfect. Superdome and some extra lip above the bezel.
Yeah. Love the profile. This is a Clark's t39 that required about 2 hours of slow and steady sanding the outside to fit the retaining ring. Worth every minute!
