I bought one from silix for a friend of mine (a different one, not one from your pictures) but it had a different "pling" noise and I really liked the way how your dupont made "pling" yours made like a loooong noise, the one I got has just a very short "pling"!

nope, germany. they usualy seize that stuff, I once bought a pair of shoes (didnt know they'd come from china, should have looked closer at that auction) and they seized them and sent me all kinds of threatening letters and stuff. as far as I know, they HAVE to seize products that come from out of EU and bear certain trademarks, even if they are genuine. it has to be proven that they are genuine, before they can release them. at least the lady at the customs office told me that.

as far as I remember, they claumed, that a drone with a bomb or whatsoever hit the pentagon. they claim this, because one of the engines shown on the video footage after the attack shows an engine of the exact same size of the drone (which aparently is smaler than the engine of an airplane), and also the airforce claimed that one or two drones were missing in action and they didnt know where they were. Dunno if that is correct or just [censored], but that sounds a LOT more plausible than a missile lol dunno if its true, but I dont really care anymore. jfk was also not shot by lee harvey oswald (IMO) and there's nothing we can do about it now and nothing will stop those who did it. never. I also believe that something with schumachers engine failure was fishy. I too believe that something with alonsos failures was fishy, because ppl were bored back in the days, when one racer dominated F1, they wanted to make it more interesting. But still, nothing we can do about it!

the reason for that might be, that most movement manufactures were owned by SSIH or ASUAG?! I really dont know, but I know what you mean, I've also always wondered why they all sort of look a like. But soo many movement manufacturers were part of SSIH/ASUAG that this might be the reason for that. It was ALL about cutting the costs, because they had some serious troubles back in the days.

Cortebert is/was owned by SSIH (Société Suisse pour l’Industrie Horlogère) which was founded by Paul Tissot and Omega. They had its seat in Geneva. SSIH later merged with ASUAG (Allgemeine Schweizerische Uhrenindustrie A.G.) (and called ASUAG-SSIH) and the rights of the ebauches went to ETA (but that was after the 70s). Unitas is/was owned by Ebauches S.A. they were also part of SSIH/ASUAG earlier (in the 50s or so). They are all one company now (ETA) I dunno who owns the "name" cortebert today, but as far as I know, Cortebert's ebauches are owned by ETA now! Some Paneristi also told me that the 6497 is based on the cortebert design, but that was a long while ago.

As far as I know, Cortebert was bought by Unitas (which is also the reason why there are a lot of newer cortebert watches with unitas movements), which is the reason why the 6497 has so many similarities with the 616/618. I'm not saying that its an exact copy, but they bear a LOT of similarities!

What I did was the following: While watching the first episode of lost the other day, I kept the bridge in my hands and rubbed the cape cod on it. After the episode was over, the cape cod cloth was black, and I mean really black, and the bridge had a mirror finish. It looks better IMHO, not exactly like the gen, but a lot better than with those little nasty brush marks. I will now try to give it a brushed look, sort of like on that picture you attatched, mark. Thanks for that btw. I havnt found a good pic of the movemt yet. Another reason for my attemt to polish the bridge is, that the engraving is too deep on the rep. If you take a look at the picture, the engraving is not as large as on the rep movement, but also not as deep. The polishing made the engraving look not as deep. I have no idea, yet, how to get a nice brushed look, but I hope I will figure it out eventualy! I learned, that all it takes, is time and dirty hands lol! i mean the brush marks were like real deep on that bridge, now they are not visible anymore!! Maybe the best method of recreating the look of the gen is grinding all the engraving off, brushing the bridge and using a pencil to write PANERAI PANERAI on the bridge lol
