I have no idea how hard or easy to reproduce a watch but i know lots of people are disappointed when they see their newly purchase have flaws especially those who paid a premium to get a so called "ultimate" or "prefect" version. I guess we have to remind ourself that no matter what they call it they are still a REP and we know the factories in CN don't have very good quality control and sometimes I wonder the very same dealer may have more than one factory to supply the same watch so the QC is even harder to maintain. Since there's no "standard" as what kinds of workmanship to be qualified as "ultimate or prefect". My guess is the dealer see the market exist so they try to make some improvement and call it "prefect". There's no doubt those watches are little better than the noob/beginner model but is the improvement really at the "prefect" level yet and more important is the higher price justified? I guess we have to decide it before making any purchases..... anyway, the key is don't let your expectation goes too high just because they are called "Ultimate" On our dealers' side, I think they should have a better control to the product if they decide to call it "prefect". Even they are not 100% like gen (as we all know that) at least they shouldn't have some obvious flaws like they have in the normal version, I also think a personal inspection to the "prefect/Ult." version before they ship out is not too much to ask for the premium a buyer willing to pay.

I got it Steve, thanks for the correction

by saying " 2836-2 Modified "......Do you mean the so called "Basterdized 2836-2" we can found on some Correct Hand stack GMT watches? if so, I hope Rob can shed some light on it cuz I'm so interest to buy a ExpII but can't decide should I get the correct-hand-stack or not.

The Zigmeister......Thanks for the great work and review. To answer that million dollars question, we should invite the dealers to come take a look and tell us who use this movement in the watches they are selling. With such a great job they done, many members will start to feel comfortable with Asian movement.

Just got my Ultimate PO today. I absolutely love it. But....
who replied to beowolf's topic in The Omega Area
It is "functional" when some chicks ask you: "what's that button on your watch ? " -
He emailed me on Weds, I think things got a bit tie up over there right after CNY. and yes, that is the email he used

Any word or idea on how is the quality of rubber strap? I'm sure lots of u.PO owner are waiting to buy the rubber strap once this Casino Royale Bond watch is release
-
good idea...... i think at the end both thread will provide lots of info about all the aspect of the 2 mainstream of rolex rep so people can decide which one to get. I guess may be we can ask the mod to link up 2 posts together.

nice Pam111, I think the ceramic / corundum bead blasting and pvd coating really give the watch its own personality!
-

This is exactly why I created this thread

Thank You very much to everyone who replied to this thread. I'm overwhelming by all the response and information you guys provide, they are amazing and I'm sure they will help me and others people who decide to enter the avenue of vintage I will give a lots of thought about whether getting a Mbw or something like a Trusty 1:1 and do some "light mod" (suggested by Falco) according to my financial power (a "finish" project can easy top $600), skill level (still new to watches so many many unknown/ risk) and time (I'm sure it take more time to modify a vintage than my car) decision decision decision ....
-
To all Vintage lover, People always saying how rare is the Mbw vintage and how good they are for modification since Mbw is 1:1 which allow you to put genuine parts.....etc So what about some other area like: Movement, Dial, Font, Hands, Materials. How good is a Mbw vintage vs a "regular" vintage in those area? For the members who know Vintage so much, can you do a Out of The Box (OTB) comparison between a Mbw Vintage & a "regular" Vintage ? My main point is: Is it worth to pay the extra $$ for a Mbw Vintage if I don't plan or have no knowledge to do any modification? By "regular" I mean those you can buy from one of our popular dealers like Josh, Andrew ....... etc Ideal Model Sample: Seadweller 1665 (red, double-red or white) or Sub 1680 (red or white) thank you for your help

I think mine looks good but yours is great. It must be your great skill in photography.

I like this watch.....they are beautiful. @ By-Tor, did you do any mod on your u.PO ?
-
@avitt, you are not alone anyway, I understand all the concern mentioned from you guys. This is the EXACT reason why I ask the forum before I decide to pick up the pry bar to open my watch. I know there's always a risk involved when you do it FIRST TIME and I believe with proper method/instruction I can minimize the risk. thanks again

It must be the canal street special edition

What is the best & safest way to open the caseback if I don't have any professional tools for watches. I have a 45mm u.PO and I just want to "take a look" the movement thanks
-
The bracelet is one of the things I like most on my u.PO It feel and looks nice and it hug your arm smoothly.
-
thanks for the report. I looking forward to see a 6 month or even annual report from you.
-
fantastic review and I think "lite" version is a great name to be called
-
I would not wear a rep especially with mechanical movement to do any exotic sports. A Casio G-Shock is always my choice !!

I don't think the pearl on yours is that bad, just like mine and some other pic I see here, don't send it back if most of the things is correct.....very nice watch. no wonder I like mine very much
