From China? If so killer deal. Shipping would have been expensive. I think the one I was looking at was more expensive due to the double neck and additional shipping costs.
The one's he had on eBay did not have brands on the headstocks. Those auctions only led me to his website. I have not purchased from him yet but conversations via email were great. He has some nice pieces.
There's no doubt a professional
nusician will notice the difference over a recreational player. They're far more in tune with the subtle nuances of the instrument and sounds it creates. Put a rep golf club in Tigers hands and he'll tell you it's a rep with his eyes closed but a weekend golfer likely won't know the diff.
I'm left handed so rep guitar selection is limited. I collect mainly less popular names like Burns, Minarik, DiPinto. I found a great site for reps and will be placing an order down the road. Found them accidentally when they had a couple guitars for sale on ebay. http://maxetone.com/JGallery/index.php?view=category&catid=67&option=com_joomgallery&Itemid=2
Thanks G,
It's one I put together, DSN EGI case PVD coated, dial and hands from an old Silix 3646 I had laying around. Baked the dial and hands, tossed in an ETA PVD coated 6497 and a custom strap and there you have it.
From what I understand eBay only removes ads if requested by the Copyright holders/Companies, not random blokes like us. I guess they realize too many people were just trying to screw over good people that they had previous disputes with or unhappy customers.
In the old days of eBay you could contact the winning bidder and give them a heads up, now you can't even to that.
BOOM!
Lume was charged about 30 secs. About lume shot was taken in the house, daytime, light coming in. Same shots were taken moments later outside. You can see the diff.
I've always admitted up front they are reps, I'm not interested in pretending to be a player. I've had more interesting conversations and made more friends by being honest than trying to lie about my watches. Never know when you're going to come across another expert like us that calls you out.
Thanks guys.
That's a vintage Art Deco Rodana(Rodania) movement. Obviously not a straight swap for the 6497. Needed custom stem, CP/HW and movement ring.
The problem is they charge the inflated prices and we keep paying it. Until we stop buying them at these high prices, they're only going to continue to climb.
