  1. shimside11: uh... are you trying to say... m.c. hammer will be the next president of the united states?!
  2. that would make you the second kind of millionaire.
  3. hk45ca: well, yes, of course... there are exactly two kinds of rich people. both kinds spend 50k on their watches, but one kind buys these kinds of rolexes so that his/her watch screams "i am a flying, smearing, reeking turd of surplus incomprehensible cash and precious gems!" wealth, like samurai swords, needs no such demonstrations.... but bad taste? -- priceless!
  4. i call HOAX! if true, these watches are my exhibit A if ever rolex takes me to court for buying a replica. they'll say, "sir, you showed incredibly poor judgment in committing such a heinous act." and i'll say, "you want to talk about 'incredibly poor judgment' and 'heinous acts' -- check this $h!+ out!" and pull out exhibit A. yup.

i have a feeling this nanuq has quite an amount of education under the brim. and not just the outdoor school of hard knocks and wild berries.

"jsph" means "dutch" in the dutch language.
  7. > I think Marrick works for Omega.... you're killing me over here!!
  8. > You'll be fine. Imagine it this way: if you WANTED it to be permanently glued, would it stay there like that? the most profound thing i've heard all week... glad it all worked out.
  9. well, if it's still at that starting bid on april 4th... one of us is going to be a real happy customer! or not.
  10. this 2254.50 is like the six million dollar man -- "we have the technology... we can rebuild him..." where do you get your parts, that after all this upgrading it's not the same price as the darn original?! r11co: you said crown/tube is one of the most important upgrades -- is that cosmetically, or is there usually a physical/mechanical problem here like i hear about the clasp spring? great thread!! just what i needed!
  11. well, at least now i know that's not a photo of marrickvilleboy him/herself. that's one piece of information about this mysterious omega master...
  12. wow... that is really, really nice. love having both the drilled lugs and the solid end links. is that with the hollow-mid-link or all solid bracelet, by the way? also, have you had this a while or is it new? i'm trying to figure out what dealers one can try for mbw at this point, or if luckyyy is the only possibility these days.
  13. i spent about five minutes trying to figure out how to spell the sound that homer simpsons makes when he's drooling/purring/gurgling. that is some sweet 2254.50. big, jen-you-wine hands. i'm guessing the more recent one-piece end-link bracelet? also, a pretty darn nice looking pearl... hey... wait... that's the genuine bezel/insert, isn't it? (i need to re-read the old rwg posts about this fine piece of 'mega. yow!) yes, indeedy... very jealous. thanks for the eye candy! [insert homer sound here.] ( chrono903: i'd be careful. that could easily be a photo of "marrickvilleboy" herself, an omega hyper-wizard or -witch shrouded in mystery, an entity of terrible power and, possibly, sublime beauty. and yes, i'm referring to his/her omega movements, there. )
  14. wacky!... LOVE the second hand... the dial is... making... my... head... spin... ! (i like the near-lack of text -- i do wish they started cutting the text out of many dials, not just for novelty dials like this. things went a little bad when the submariner 5513's two lines of text turned into 4 lines, and noone looked back.) thanks for the awesome photo. love that bracelet, as always.
  15. ok, i think it's clearly well overdue that that i stop and ask, "who is this marrickvilleboy? and what is he capable of?" this guy is popping up left and right with omega and 2892 movements. this is not normal. this guy can not only obtain genuine omega parts, but can also re-paint and relume omega hands. there are not too many people that can pull off this sort of caper. this guy builds his watches from scratch -- this isn't even a mod/custom project of a rep, he's actually building an omega watch, people! this is getting serious. so, honestly, who is this guy, where is he coming from, where is he going, who does he know, _what_ does he know, and what is he capable of?... fear and confusion stalks the land... jsph
  16. very neat photos. thanks. these were re-lumed?... by?... jsph
  17. o my, o my... what an amazing piece. thank you, sir. may i ask: you also showed once one of these on black leather, i think? was that also asian mvt or swiss? by the way, how do you resize these wild bracelets? (you wouldn't happen to have any photos of that, i suppose?) thanks again. terrific watch. jsph

killer watch, nanuq. how exactly are you cruising ebay for such unknowns? (or the usual daily search for "superman"? jsph
  19. funny about the screws. genuine has pins, i think we all agree, but... funny enough... while the screws might make it less accurate, it's a hell of a welcome improvement. unexpected bonus in that precious-time smp! enjoy! jsph
  20. ttk: any way you could source the black bezel insert yourself, or could the manufacturers of this particular watch, even if the customer does the replacing? very interesting item... jsph
  21. congrats, triplehd. i would have made overtures myself, but am sure i can't afford it and don't have a truly deserving project watch. looking forward to hearing more about this from you guys. long live omega! now... the 2824 that comes out of that watch... you take good care of that, y'hear? jsph
  22. ttk - thanks for your post on this. there's a lot one can read just on rfids now that would made one cry (eg, patents for remotely going through your garbage)... though there's about 1000x times as much good press being produced by the rfid consortia and other interested parties. one thing i'm sorry to say you were very wrong about, though... unless you're 99 and in bad health, this is all going to play out real fast, very much during your lifetime. if entire communities in texas are voting unanimously to have their all their children tagged with rfid for their own "safety" (and stuff like that has indeed happened already, for at least a year or more), and if 50% of the populace are of below-average intelligence, then we're in for a real treat, real soon. oooh, and i forget if you pointed this out, but since the fda has already approved subdermal rfid tags, there's really nothing to slow it down. sign me up! where are my happy pills?! v for vanquished, jsph
  23. sorry guys, but ttk's gen. certina deserved a big bump. i only just checked this thread today. wow. check it out...
  24. ok, mvb -- suitably impressed and very intrigued. you've got to share the whole story now! and what you plan to do with it. [on a perhaps related note: what is just a _little_ bit of a shame, i would say, though, is that the really nice older versions of the seamaster reps, that came with the 2892, were in apparently _thinner_ cases as well, from what i hear. and the seamaster is supposed to be thinner and sleeker, due to this (you rascal!) thinner movement. upgrading a 2824 or 2836 rep with this guy is wild, no doubt, but one still has the thicker rep case. that said, i think the difference is only about a millimeter (current ones about 12.x mm thick, the 2892s might have been closer to 11mm*)... i guess this ranks around the same as other subtle things the real rep connoisseurs notice.] now, on with the story, sir! jsph * anyone who has a 2892 closed-factory 2254.50, i could offer my services as watch thickness measurer. i have a pair of high quality calipers, and for a small fee, would be delighted to measure the thickness of your superior rep. turn around time is approximately 12 - 36months -- but i do very good work!
