  3. Ubi ...I'm honoured by your review and humbled by everyone's fantastic comments Thank you and I'm glad you like them. I'm really pleased you see the subtleties I tried to explain over e-mail - your photos capture them very well. Milesd has taken some nice macro's of the lume fill in his recent post and there's lovely shots of a gen for sale on risti at the moment!! All dials have made their journeys now - a few rejects which need recycling and on with Pre-A 001 , 205/A , 203/A and 218/A to complete the set. I picked up a gen 61 dial from a very esteemed member and plan to use that to nail the tobacco colour on a few dial options that spring to mind There's lots to do yet!!! ATB - FGD
  4. Upfront, ballsy and courteous - welcome back and hope the steps you've taken make the difference ATB - FGD
  5. Cheers gents ...glad you like them. Thanks to everybody who had faith and supported me with their hard earned money. Here's some pics of a gen Pre-A 002 for sale on risti right now $15K if you have it spare!! This is the lume colour I wanted to achieve and think it's goen quite well!! ATB - FGD
  6. The absolute cream of anyones collection there Dadog -Angelus , 2892, 2893 models and that 082 ....I miss mine when I see yours !!! Some funky exotic touches on the strap combos as well!! Thanks for sharing dude! FGD
  7. Congratulations @Projectologist!!! - a really great choice - you just have to love the 44mm 1950 case style and with the contemporary essentials of a date and that new automatic movement with a thicker case it's too die for!! Wear and enjoy always FGD
  8. As far as I'm aware there never was a 177F ...it was 118F with tobacco brown dial and then from G series onwards this changed to the black dial 177 model and then H series onwards sandwich dial. Serials are wrong for an F series Titanium xxxx/4000 was on 111 Steel only - F series 118 was a run of 700 only That said - if it's the same case as the older verison F reps - then this is a good case body for a B-H project and the dial looks the same as the "ultimate" 111-E or 001-B which is a good dial for either of those models. Movement - the best you can get from China at the moment but still not up to scrutiny by freaks like us.. Cheers FGD
  9. Thanks for all your comments gents ...much appreciated. This is deffo getting a lot of wrist time at the moment - I just need to experiment with strap options....V has some nice mustard vintage looking leather @ Clint - its a PAM 21 case back on the 6152 - I ordered it to fit the 3646 which it doesn't - but it does fit the 6152 case set perfectly All the best Ross and no need to apologise for the wait ...it was worth it!! Cheers FGD
  10. Evening All, Well I finally completed my 3646 project this weekend and I am chuffed to bits with the results! I must also take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to Ross Mc Sherry for making this a reality. It started life as a $100 case set from Prestige Watch Co but U managed to ruin the plexi in the first hour of my vintaging efforts so I called out to Ross to some tips and assistance. Ross offered to take the case set in , check it to see if it was any good and fit a replacement plexi - but Ross's generosity meant I got alot more than I could have ever dreamed of: Ross welded the lugs , shortened the crown tube and vintagized the whole case set Installed a nicely aged Rolex tropic plexi and a big engraved Brevet crown. Ross provided one of his sublime engraved dials , with engraved text, lume and resin fill that looks just perfect Also provided a perfect Molijna movement and some stunning blue hands which he re-lumed in an aged effect. All I had to to was order some Molijna 1.2mm stems from Davidsen and complete the final assembly!! So once again , a huge salute and personal thank you to one of our most knowledgable, skilled, generous, honourable members and a friend to me and many others!! In the pics below the 3646 is on a Red 12 baseball glove vintage style strap with GPD Mod Dep buckles I made last year. Sits pride or place along with the Ross Mc Sherry / Clint Eastwood 6152 that I am also extremely grateful for!! All the best Ross FGD

  13. This place is incredible ...I doubt you'd find the same passion and craftsmanship on any other watch forum. Period. I can barely believe the vintage Panerai that keep gracing these pages...they just keep getting better and better. Huge congratulations to the Erfurt Combo once again ...please keep it up!! FGD
  14. Strange ...I've often thought the same way about my wife Seriously ....nice wrist candy !!! Cheers FGD
  15. Depends on the case and the size / spacing of the CG screw holes as DSN's can vary. Best Pre-V style CG readily available is from Little Hero on Rep Geek - same as modern H series Best crown is T-48 - available in steel or PVD but stocks are limited The LH CG would need PVD coating - and if you were going to do that I'd get a whole case set done at the same time. FGD
  16. Boooootiful!! FGD

  24. Wise move ....and good luck with your project FGD
  25. First - thanks T for making these and other projects - their success is surely measured by how well they've sold!! The question of "which crown looks best" is one that has kept me hunched over the work-bench many long nights!! I've compared the OEM on my 002-D , Marcus's 2.1mm "PALP" crowns and Tourby's T-48's countless times and have formed an opinion to put out there I often found that a PALP 2.1mm looked more correct than a 2.0mm T-48 , with certain CG combinations especially so. Depsite the 2.1mm thickness , PALP looked closer to the OEM (1.98mm) and this is mainly due the the high polish level and more angled / flat bevelled edge giving a thinner appearance than 2.1mm The recess on the 2.0mm T-48 is perfect however, and proof is how it fits with an OEM CG lever or JF CG. The overall finish and working operation of the T-48 is also superior to the PALP 2.1mm. I believe that the T-48 2.0mm crown is the correct size but would reccomend some minor adjustments 1- Sharper / flater angle on the bevelled edges - to give slight effect of looking "thinner" than 2.0mm 2- Higher polish on the Stainless Steel version Any other views out there? Cheers FGD
