I'm confused here... Take a look at this: 380592559162 It show in one of the pics, very clearly, a $370.00 price-tag. I google this part number and see that it's still active. Why is it $1,000? Or am I daft, and missing something completely.

If you want to send me the T-19, I can put it on. No problem at all!

Of I could find a gen case for 1900, I'd do it in a heartbeat. As it stands, with everything I've found/ordered/acquired, I'll be about $3200 into a head, and I'm guessing I'll be another 600-800 on a gen bracelet. The only thing rep right now is the case...so I'll be going full-franken if possible.

Honestly, sounds like you're just having a bad transaction. Can't say that every transaction is like that, as have most had very positive dealings. I'd have just moved on...but you'll do what you do.

This is my favorite part of your build. I find a lot of cool stuff at thrift shops that I use in other things. Leather belts are the easiest thing to find and use. It's how I started in leather work too.

Knowing what I do about precision milling, coupled with the limited market for such a thing, he's really not that far off. Setup and tooling for this is hard to manage with stringent quality standards. You'd have $15k getting it set up and ready, and then you need to stay on top of it. If he's selling 40-50 cases a year at $1,200-$1,500, he's not making all that much.

This is the one on eBay that I WANT to use...but I'm told its incorrect and won't work. ;-(

Thanks! Looking forward to building it in a few weeks. I've got a modified Zenith on the way...talking to Phong about cooking up a case...and now I'm on a hunt for gen pushers and a dial! I didn't realize when i started, that I was so limited on dial selection. I guess I have to go older for the "Newman" dials. (Next build!)

DIY Lume is pretty nice too! I've got a replacement bezel on its way to me. cool as the Pepsi is, I've always liked the "Coke" dials a little better. I'm going to try to age it a little first, but think it's going to be a great combo.

Painted the line dots tonight. First, I sprayed everything with white primer, the followed up with 5-6 coats of Krylon Glowz. Then placed them on the dial...one by one. Then placed the hands and set the clearence. Put humpty back together...and here he sits. Only thing left to do, is drill out the lug holes. I love this watch...

Not if you taped them off. I only pulled mine because I'm spraying them tonight. I'd tried to go puffy, but it was too tall for the hands to clear. This project is a LOT of work, but it's been fun too.

I'll take better pics of my 89 in a few weeks. I'm going to buy a rep 89 and compare the two in detail. Waiting for the G series back first.

I did this yesterday with brown shoe-polish and my shoe-brush. The trick is knowing when to stop! I put the brown on, brushed lightly...added a little more....brushed lightly again. It looks almost gilt! The paint on the dial was completely white when I started. Just used regular old Kiwi Brown Paste.

Don't be so sure. I use soda to take PVD off of things all the time.

Is the zip-tie holding it together included?

Normally, I have either a black croc deployment or a black NATO on the watch. Lately I've been favoring a custom Elephant strap I commissioned House of Fleming in Atlanta make for me. They did a wallet out of elephant for me a few years ago, and I loved it. This is quite a bit lighter grey than the wallet, but it goes well with the Titanium finish. In person, it's VERY close to the same tones.

Hey gang! I've been spending a lot of time over in the AP and Rolex areas, but I actually have had more Gen Panerais than anything else over the years. After seeing what the new generation of reps look like, I decided to take the plunge. I did quite a bit of reading (and searching) and wanted to get watches that I have owned in the past, and regretted selling. Can't keep them all! (That's always the case, right?) One thing I have amassed, is about 30 gen straps. That's what I've learned you NEVER sell. Easy to pick them up, and they always work on the "next watch" so I just keep building that inventory. Last night, I ordered a Noob 292-J and H-Factory 390 from Toro. I've had a 292 and 390 in the past that I picked up from the Panerai boutique in Paris. I sold both a few hours after I got home, and made a good bit on the flip, but regretted not keeping the 292. I was too worried that I'd scratch it and de-value a (then) hot watch. So...I ordered them both last night. Looking forward to jumping in! Currently, I have 3 Gens, and just sold one of them on eBay. 088G, 089G, 098H. The 98 was a real cool piece. The alarm was bad-ass, and I can't see there ever being a rep of that watch. (Smaller size, strange movement, complicated dial etc.) I don't expect I'll see either of my purchases until late next week, so I've got some time to kill between now and then. Looks like I've got some more reading to do!

How did you age the dial like that? Looks great. I still wasn't happy with the 1675 dial, so I pulled everything and started over. I'm going to paint the dots and get it back together tonight. See what I can come up with.

Yeah, that list is updated weekly...if not daily. It's the first place I look when I'm considering what to buy.

I posted a WTB earlier, and hope to hear from someone. That'd be a great way to get started!
