  1. I think that's a fantastic idea I had to send a watch back to China a few weeks back, and as yet, I still don't know if it actually arrived, or if the replacement is on its way... I'm sure the dealer will contact me in due time, but, a system like yours, certainly will help to speed issues for clients with returns
  2. Sorry to intrude into your business, but did I not read that you had been offered a European address where you could return the goods without (or at least with less) customs risk? I have never seen any other dealer offer such a service before, so I would say that they are going 'above and beyond' to help you. Best of luck in getting your issues resolved
  3. I'm still wearing this, and very happy that I've managed to manually regulate it to what appears to be +/- 0 per day Now time to observe that over a longer period and see how close I got it
  4. Looking good I have to admit, NATO straps are comfortable, and give a great casual look, I just wish they didn't take two hours to dry when they get wet
  5. That's a great idea, bro, awesome suggestion I can't see someone who worked directly under the dealers screwing people over on work done, such as the Rocketeer fiasco, it just wouldn't be worth their while
  6. I quite agree. I think that the level of watch-making skill which a buyer has must also be considered during 'complaints', as issues which one person might require to pay a watch smith to fix (such as installing new hands) another person might be able to do for them-self quite easily. For example, I recently acted as 'courier' for another member, who had their watch shipped to me, (from another dealer, not yourself) so I could forward it on to them in Europe. We had agreed that I would wrap the watch (in its bubble wrap) in gift paper, so when the watch arrived, I unpackaged it to do so, when I heard a rattling/scrape. Very carefully (and VERY aware that this was someone else's property) I removed the caseback, and found that the rotor screw was on the verge of falling out of place, and the rotor was loose. I'm no expert on movements, but given it had a metal movement retaining ring rather than a plastic one, I'm making an educated guess that it was a Swiss movement (or maybe an ETA clone). Certainly not the kind of appearance I'm used to seeing on Asian movements I tightened the screw back up, re-secured the caseback, and the watch was fine (sent on its way that day, and arrived with it's owner yesterday morning) Now, I would by no means class myself as an 'expert' when it comes to watches, but I found that a very simple and quick fix to perform. For someone else, however, that might have meant the watch required a return, or needed a watch-smith to examine it, so I think the skill level certainly must be considered, as that can significantly color an issue over what is 'fixable/acceptable', or what is indeed unacceptable, and requiring of a return... Just my .2c
  7. As above, that trio is pure class What fantastic watches
  8. Cheap is good when it comes to beer I'm not too sure how it rates price wise here, as I haven't compared it in a while, but it's definitely one of my favorites
  9. It looks amazing, and Sol is a fine beer I hope you both had a fantastic time
  10. As a debate topic, I can completely see that side to it, as after all, it is contraband, and infringes intellectual property, I'd just be interested to find out at what level the corporate rights, would supersede the individual's right to 'continue to own' the item which they were already in possession of... Of course, if one was walking into a bank with a counterfeit bill in China, it would just get put in the 'for the tourists' tray
  11. I mostly use it to stay in touch with my cousins, and friends in Japan, but it's quite useful for staying in touch with friends locally for arranging stuff. Makes for a good business networking tool as well, I've found The chat function has been acting up for 2-3 weeks, so it could be that their servers were creaking under the strain, and finally gave out today... Not to sure, but it seems to be up and running again now
  12. Yeah, it was a crazy situation to be witnessing, as the kid was standing to one side, not even at a register, and when they asked why he couldn't take their order, he explained that it was his first day, and he hadn't been trained yet, but was waiting for someone... They then asked what time he finished. I think not quite understanding, he said what time Macshack closed, to which they replied "We'll be back then to do you over!" The kid looked like he was about to shit himself, and for some strange reason, I never saw him working there after that... I've seen my fair share of awkward customers over the years, but never anything so totally unreasonable. Even if they were joking, it wasn't cool to do something like that to a trainee... That's absolutely my sentiments as well. The time I forgot to take my watch off, I was actually holding the groceries with that hand, and nothing was said, but it's not the sort of thing I'd do intentionally.
  13. Seems to be back up now... Very strange. I tried three different machines, and none could log on (or in the case of the PCs, even locate the site ) I guess someone forgot to pay the bills this month
  14. Thanks, that's much appreciated, when I have the spare cash, I'll have to put together a shopping list and see what might be possible
  15. Well and truly off-topic, but I just wondered if anyone else has had trouble accessing Facebook? I haven't been able to get my PC to load the site all day, the iPhone app worked up until a few hours back, whereupon it started informing me it there was a 'connection error', and now won't log in, and on top of all that, just typing 'Facebook' into google, the site link just comes up with a server error (as does attempts to google search my friends) Anyone else experiencing this?
  16. Absolutely. That's what galls me to hear about ADs confiscating watches. I wonder how many actually get destroyed, or if the AD decides which ones they like the look of...
  17. That's an awesome price, and something I'll probably look into at a later date for project builds. I was just wondering, would you ever sell individual parts, such as dials, bracelet clasps, bezel inserts etc?
  18. You're right there, always someone freaking out about something on the roads And not that I'd really approve of someone getting medieval at retail staff (I once saw some builders threatening to do over a McTrainee on his first day as he couldn't take their order that was Effed up...) but some snoot AD thinking they had the right to seize a rep, then getting their ass handed to them... That might well be worth the price of admission
  19. Thanks, that's much appreciated Nothing special involved, just a
  20. Yeah, probably nothing too extreme, but, as mentioned above, there's always that one customer who might flip out and make things interesting As you say though, best to try and stay below the radar
  21. I felt inspired to take these pics The only condensation, was external, not internal. No leaks at all, and that's a
  22. Absolutely, it's all about 'static pressures' and the actual pressure on the watch from the movement of the watch through the water
  23. I agree, there's a lot of general ignorance out there. The times I have had a rep on when going into an AD (which is now any time, as I don't wear anything but my reps now) as a last minute decision to look at another watch, I have always put it in my pocket rather than on the counter. Most times when I went into ADs to buy a watch, I simply wouldn't wear my old watch at all during the shopping trip, so I could put the new watch on straight away. As Lani mentioned above, it's just courtessy. On one occasion, I went into an AD to order a strap buckle, and, carrying a bag of groceries, and forgot to take my watch off. (I think it was a Planet Ocean, I forget) They might have seen it, but they never made any comment at all about it, nor treated me any different to any other customer... One thing's for sure, I'd love to be a fly on the wall the day a rep owner objects to an AD trying to confiscate their watch
