Thanks for the link, I've bookmarked it for when I can spare the cash (hopefully not too long ) -
Tropic Straps... Are they cooler than rubber to wear?
TeeJay replied to TeeJay's topic in General Discussion
That's definitely interesting to know, thank you I'm not too concerned about the cost (within reason, of course ) as I'd rather save up for something better, which I will definitely get more use out of, than I would to buy a cheaper alternative which might not meet my needs (as in the case of my solid silicone dive strap ) I certainly like the look and pricetag, I'll have to have a look at those, thanks -
Tropic Straps... Are they cooler than rubber to wear?

That's awesome to hear, I had a feeling the holes would help with ventilation (as well as drainage) I might have to try and invest in one when funds allow Thanks for the input -
Tropic Straps... Are they cooler than rubber to wear?

Indeed, a pocket watch is a watch, and pre-dates the wrist watch. However, a pocket watch would be a redundancy for me. My phone has the time on it, and I could always use that as a 'pocket carried time-piece'. That said, I prefer to wear a wrist watch, and actually don't really like putting things in my pockets at all... Thanks for your input though Awesome, how would you describe the texture? Are they quite soft and flexible, or harder and more 'plasticky'? I have to admit, the pics I have seen make them look, well, not uncomfortable, but not as soft as silicone straps Would you say that the tropic strap is cooler than silicon? -
That's a pretty cool I haven't read the novel, but given how much I like the film, I'm sure I'd love the book

It was a TT one? Interesting indeed

That's a real shame to hear Take it easy, brother, and get well soon

Awesome, that would be my kind of dream job

I just did a search (I can't get hold of the DVD at the moment) but I wondered if anyone knew if Christian Bale wore a black-dialled DJ for his role in American Psycho? I tried searching, and that was the only result (other than a lot of gay porn ) which came up... As Patrick said to his hookers, "Don't touch the watch!"

By 'cooler', I mean in terms of temperature/wrist comfort, not fashion sense I only wonder, as the silicon strap I bought for my project sub, while a really nice strap, actually gets pretty warm and uncomfortable at temperatures of +23C, and it was more comfortable to wear a NATO strap instead. I've never handled a tropic strap at all, but from pictures I've seen, they look to be more like plastic than 'rubber'. Are they any cooler than silicon?

Now that is a cool job, knowing that you help people get together I'm not ashamed to say I met my wife online (online community rather than a dating site, but either way, still online ) and things've worked out pretty good for us (well, other than the crippling poverty )

I'm an art consultant (at least, I would be if folks were paying me for business ) Essentially, I do concept artwork and consultation in several artistic areas. I'm trying to diversify to move into corporate consulting to help companies change their corporate image, but need to get the right connections to do that...

Following on from this, here's a quick and dirty to show the abuse

Is that a standard uniform?

What a fantastic piece, congratulations indeed

Currently wearing my project Sub on the SS bracelet The pearl's got knocked out while doing some yard work, so proper work-related/tool watch damage, rather than it just dropping out in the street Have a good weekend, amigos :drinks:

Smooth move, brother, I'll have to remember that advise

No problem Indeed, it does seem too likely to be coincidental, especially with more reports of DOA watches (not just the GMTIIC) cropping up. I wouldn't want to say that the dealer was lying about running the watch for two days, I guess it depends if they had it in their possession or if it was just drop-shipped, or, maybe it was simply damaged in transit... The only thing I could suggest, is either send it back for replacement (which could also be faulty) or, keep the DOA GMTIIC, order another GMT watch, such as the EXP II or regular GMT II and then perform a movement transplant and sell the remainder of the donor watch as spares... Best of luck with achieving a satisfactory resolution
-
Damn, sorry to hear about you continued issues, the recent GMTIIcs are starting to look like a dodgy batch I would like to get one when I can afford to, which might not be a while, but I hope they resolve these movement issues before I do come to buy one... I think the bracelet might be a bit lightweight for the OPs taste... Then again, my opinion and perspective on Rolex changed, so maybe theirs might as well
-
That's a fine collection And an awesome use of the truth as well
-
I used to think Rolexs felt cheap and lightweight, but what changed my perception of the brand, was being told that originally, they were not designed as prestige fashion watches, but functional tool watches. The lightweight, flimsy clasps of the Submariners always bugged me, as I felt they were not appropriate to a watch of such cost and prestige, but, when I was told to think of a Rolex as a car which has been stripped down for speed and performance, rather than comfort and prestige, I began to appreciate them for what they are, rather than criticizing them for what they are not (and were not initially designed as) Before I was 30 and married, I felt a little uncomfortable wearing a Rolex, and now although my Rolex is the only functional watch in my collection, so I have no choice about wearing it, I actually feel comfortable wearing it. The GMTIIC is the first Rolex I've tried on (in gen form) which immediately impressed me. I didn't think that it was worth the AD price tag, but that's just down to me being against consumerism. Had it had a reasonable (ie rep-level ) price tag, I would have thought that it was an awesome watch for an awesome price If you used to feel that Rolexs were cheap, then I'd suggest staying away from the older models of GMT/Sea-Dweller/Submariner/etc, as they will all have that 'flimsy feel' to them. You might enjoy the Deep Sea Sea Dweller though With regards Daytonas, I've never worn one on a bracelet, but, some do have a different clasp than the Oyster bracelets, so may have a more substantial feel to them, but I wouldn't like to say for sure... If you're concerned about the 7750 movement, why not try one with a quartz movement? I know, quartz in a Rolex, sacrilege, but it might be a way of getting a feel for the watch itself, without having to worry about the movement keeling over on you... Best of luck with your purchases

The ultimate prank to play on someone who thinks the size of his wallet makes him a big man I'd advise against the old switcheroo though, just in case

ROCKETEER = K2222 - Admin Team is there something U can do ?
TeeJay replied to Pix's topic in General Discussion
Fantastic to see that things are being resolved kudos to all behind the scenes who have made such resolutions possible -
That's a pretty cool watch, the shape of the case has an almost 70's feel to it Awesome work on tracking down a sweet deal

Red lume is not an impossibility. Also, if the factory are silkscreening the lume onto the dial, it's certainly possible that they included the branding in that process (such as the silkscreened lume on the IWC Aquatimer bezel)... Given that Polo is a new dealer, I would think that the admin have taken steps to ensure that photos are accurate to the product displayed
