    Kit List

Thanks for the link You know what they say, "fail to prepare, prepare to fail..." I figure where better than to get good information from folks well and truly 'in the know' than here

    Kit List

Fantastic, that'll definitely be going on my list Ahh, so despite them being advertised as multi-purpose, they're really only good for chivving someone? I was quite impressed with one site's description, saying that they were durable enough to be hammered through a board, so figured it could've been quite useful. Oh well, I'll cross that one off the 'to buy' list

I'll try and track one down, although I have a hunch it might be hard to get one shipped... Out of curiosity, do you have any experience with the 'CIA letter openers'? They're marketed as being multi-purpose, rather than just a sneaky way of getting a blade on a plane, but I wondered how durable/versatile they might actually be...

Ahh, so beneficial from radiant heat, as opposed to radiant light Thanks for the explanations As mentioned, I was in the Scouts when I was younger, but we never did much in the way of true 'survival' camping, and my goal is to build a kit which would be useful in those conditions, rather than for 'everyday camping' where other supplies and equipment are to hand

On the contrary, it all goes in the vest easily, and is remarkably light to carry No issue of mobility at all No, I'm just assembling a kit for use should I go camping when the weather improves, and should I wind up getting locked in on an investigation (It nearly happened once, and then I didn't have anything with me other than the clothes I stood up in. I will not be in such a situation again due to lack of equipment )

If only it was 'that kind' of get together At least the company is good Good to see you posting again, I hope things are good with you Can you think of anything vital I'm missing from my list (besides the pleasure kit? )
  8. Having the movement serviced, and I'm sending the dial and hands away for a relume prior to re-assembly. I probably won't be seeing it for a while, as cash is too tight for me to have the work done, as there are more important things I need to budged for Thanks

Essentially, sitting in a dark room with spiritually inclinded Soccer Moms, asking if "Anyone is there..." If you watch a show called TAPS, that's the kind of investigations I go on, not 'Most Haunted-style' screamathons

    Kit List

Okay, so I had been using this: as the base for my kit for taking on paranormal investigations (up to 8 hours duration), and future camping trips. I decided to down-size the vest to one of these: and, despite down-sizing the vest, it has actually increased the amount of what I can comfortably carry I've added four additional 'pouches' on the sidestraps between the front and rear sections for carrying some of the smaller items, but I am really impressed by the capacity of the large front pockets. I can fit two 1 ltr thermos flasks in one pocket, thus eliminating the need for the poster-tube to store them, and improving my mobility Here's an updated list: Three 'bandana'-size cloths (for use as bandanas or triangular bandages) A4-sized zip lock bag (containing sheets of tissuepaper as kindling) (could be used as emergency 'food bowl') One 'carrier bag' (without any holes in it. I figured it would do for an 'emergency latrine' ) One 'tool card' (Magnifier, compass, blade, can opener, multi-wrenches) Six chemical glo-sticks Two Battery glo-sticks (Essentially a small torch, with a 3 inch red-tinted plastic cone instead of a torch lens) One pack of 24 waterproof matches (in heavy-duty plastic waterproof case) which is attached to a luminous compass key-fob Contents of three first aid kits (everything from plasters to condoms) Four packs of batteries for vest torches Two permanently mounted downward facing LED (9 LEDs) torches (one red-tinted, the other with stock lens, both torches modified with wraps of non-slip matting to maintain their position in the elastic straps) One heavy-duty hand torch (5 LEDs, with lens red-tinted) One 20mm wide roll electricians tape One backup 'windup' torch (3 LEDs, with lens red-tinted) One Stanley Knife with five spare blades One Sharpie pens (double ended - Fine and Ultra Fine) One Butane 'blowtorch' lighter One black pashmina One black long-sleeved T-Shirt One 2 ltr Platypus water bladder (Now useable to full capacity) Drinking line is fed through an existing flap in the top of the upper spine pouch, and secured to a shoulder strap for easy access One ready to eat meal (Not an MRE, but a camping meal which is edible hot or cold, with room in lower spine pouch for about 4 more) One Spork One tube foot powder One can insect repellent Four disposable/re-useable waterproof ponchos One pack of tissues Two bulldog clips One pair sunglasses (prevents me getting dazzled by flash-photography in dark, or, makes useful spare pair of sunglasses for daytime wear ) One mini 'tool kit' of hex wrenches and screw-drivers (to be upgraded to Leatherman tool in time) Two 1 ltr stainless steel thermos flasks (One for spaghetti, one for additional water in 'un-burstable' container) All distributed thus: To come... 550 cord Stainless Mirror Sun block Bivvy Bag 20mm wide roll glow in the dark electricians tape (for securing camera wires in a visible manner) Can anyone think of anything else which would be useful?
  11. Ahh, I didn't realize that that was what you do. I've suspescted I'd make a good stockbroker after playing the rather basic computer game "Drug Wars". I had a hunch just before I went on vacation that that would've been an excellent time to buy shares in UK Banks for peanuts, but, as I'm not signed up to buy shares, I couldn't take advantage of the situation Oh well...
  12. Wear something other than a PAM?? That's just crazy talk Okay, I might wear my Planet Ocean when I go to see Quantum of Solace, but then again, I might not Thanks bro That's an awesome watch I hope it goes well for you I could certainly do with someone putting millions into my funds too At the moment, I'm wearing this: But later this evening, I'm going on a paranormal investigation, so this will be coming out to play Does sitting in a circle with a group of spiritually-inclined Soccor Moms really require the survival kit? No. But, on one investigation I went on, a key got broken in a lock, which could have made it an enforced night-long stay, so from now on, I'm fully prepared should such a thing happen again
  13. I'm glad to hear you had a positive outcome, and didn't get stung by HMC/Parcel Force's little racket Best of luck with your future purchases
  14. As I said, I agree, Corgi's post could have been taken in a condescending way, I admit, it did seem harsh when I read it, but, I also understand that tone does not always translate as the author intended, so, remembering what folks said about my nude canvasses, I bore that in mind. I was simply pointing out that your suggestions about Corgi's sexuality or view of women, was uncalled for, so I felt obliged to stand up for Corgi. That is all. Case closed. Back to the calender
  15. Oh for sure, I'm sure nothing was meant, I just thought there was no need to suggest Corgi was gay... Personally, I'd cast a 'no girls' vote as well, simply to keep the project entirely work and home safe As before, just let me know what you need me to do, and, if I'm able, consider it done
  16. I'm liking this combo :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  17. Come on, that's not really needed... Okay, Corgi's post certainly read as being condescending, but, that could just have been one of those times when humor does not translate into text as intended, there's no need to make suggestions that he's gay or dislikes women. That's just uncalled for. I recall when I posted some canvasses I had drawn with silhouettes of nudes, and the overwhelming response is that people liked them, but couldn't buy them for display, due to the female elements of their household. I would think Corgi's comment to be along the same lines. Without meaning to put words into his mouth, I would suspect that he means he feels that a calender about watches only needs to be about watches, the pure hobby, which could be displayed. Nudie calenders, on the other hand, are not necessarily 'home use', but 'garage and workshop' material... Just my perception on those thoughts though...
  18. Of course, but it still looks like a set of bathroom scales
  19. The Nokia looks quite good, but when I first saw the picture of the Motorola closed, I thought it looked like a set of bathroom scales...
  20. As before, bro, anything you need, just let me know. I can't do any desktop publishing at the moment, but if you need a review of something, I'd be happy to help
  21. Ken had some pretty devestating family business to deal with not so long ago, so I'm guessing that's why he hasn't been around as much as he used to. I'm sure he will be back once his family commitments allow him to be. Ken's a great guy, a fantastic friend, and a true pleasure to do business with. Best of luck with your search
  22. I think personal recommendation is definitely the way to go, as it's that bit more personal than an overall As for the OP, sounded like a sock account, but my own moderation experiences have just left me suspicious and cynical Indeed, but that still doesn't actually mean that they're a bad dealer Take Tony for example. Awesome guy to do business with, yet not widely spoken of, yet he is now doing his probation on RWI, and has set up a site aimed just for the members, who will get a discount. Now, before anyone says "Well why should only members get the discount!" or "That price should be available to everyone!", two points: 1. In life there are many businesses which provide discount to members only, indeed, I believe that is something concierge services provide it's members, so it's not as if there aren't examples where discounts are not available to all, and 2. Tony is (or at least certainly used to be) open to negotiation on prices. If 'a civilian' was to go to his non-forum discount site, if they didn't like the price, not only are they welcome to look elsewhere ( ) but, if they were to email him and ask if he would accept a lower price, chances are, he would be open to that... The thing is though, ultimately, that is a risk people take even with forum recommended dealers... As much as people might make posts of support, or post reassurances that "[insert name of dealer here] will make it right," at the end of the day, it is a case of if the dealer chooses to resolve the issue or not, so to be honest, whoever the dealer is, ultimately, the buyer is always on their own, regardless of if the dealer is known or unknown. All someone has when going with a better known dealer, is the backup of information from other people's transactions to use to help with making their decision, rather than just going on gut instinct for how a site looks, and clicking the 'buy' tab
  23. Once I saw my friend's, I think it was only a matter of time I'm planning on doing a PVD 210 myself I've always like that dial, it's so different from the usual PAM designs. I'm sure it'll look fantastic in a PVD case You'll have to put up some pics of the PVD 210, I'd love to see how that looks
