I'm sorry to hear that, best wishes to you and your family at this time.

I picked up a 'Canal Street' quality PAM today in Mazarr
-
If I wasn't surfing on hijacked wifi, I'd've missed this, and I'm really glad I didn't. Happy birthday, Double T, I hope you're having a good one

Stress testing still...
Is this going to be one of those situations when the 'test' just runs into permanent wrist time?
I'm still loving that watch, and I do need a Base Luminor in my collection, I guess I'll just have to build myself one when the time is right...

I like Kelster's avatar, or, more accurately, the dark-haired girl at the front
My wife finds Pugwash's avatar awesome. Hard to top an animal with a bucket. Only with an animal who lost his bucket

I'm off to Spain for a week tomorrow, and this will be my holiday beater
I've already adjusted the GMT hand to -1, so when I get off the plane tomorrow, and roll the main hands forwards an hour, the GMT hand will be telling the time in the UK
I've also got my 104 on SS if we go anywhere nice for a meal,
and my 113 on the Ferrari strap incase I'm feeling 'smart casual' one evening
Which, thanks to SSSurfer, now has a black hand
Thanks again, amigo, it's made such a difference to the watch, it's much appreciated
I'll try and get some decent wrist shots while I'm away, but I'm not promising anything

YOU LIE!
:D
:D
Okay, just to keep you happy

you're right teejay, king is a reputable dealer who even i have purchased from in the past. but i don't think this is her. see king's website here. someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but again ... be careful. this is exactly how i ended up here. i bought a cheap rep thinking i was getting what was in the picture.
You think it's someone having a site in her name? Having read about Tony's listing on RWI, I think it's safe to conclude that dealers have more than one site. I remember reading where someone thought they'd found a 'scam site' using Joshua's photos, but someone else then posted that it was just another of his sites
It's a spooky business, that's for sure...

Thats a gen bro
Doh:
) I agree, that is a good collection. It sure is, some nice variety, but sticking with a theme
-
Glad to hear it worked out for you
-
King is (or certainly was) a member of the Cartel. Plenty of folks have purchased from her
-
That's fantastic, absolutely incredible leather work
-
TJ- Glad to hear your 004 will be on the mend! And with a project Radiomir to go as a result. Very nice!
I'm going to order a 'PVD Radiomir Blackseal, with the second sweep', and put the stripped movement in the 004. I've got a base Radiomir on order (a 210?
) and the movement, dial and hands will be going whole into the PVD case, and then fitted on a 26/26 black leather Andy strap (by way of Tourby) and fitted with a 26mm PVD buckle. Would such a watch even have a PAM code, or would it be totally custom?
Looking sharp, bro
Can't decide! Can't decide!Fantastic collection
I've been trying to source the GMT Radiomir for ages, where did you track one down?
-
Heh heh... Thanks, TJ!
You're very welcome
PVD PAM with a brown strap is one of my favorite combos. Sadly, I felt it never really coordinated with my wardrobe properly so I seldom wear that combo, although I do like how it looks
I've found a suitable movement donor to fix up my 004 (previously mis-identified as a 111g
) which will also lead to a custom Radiomir project (when funds are available, of course
)

Tues- A temporary transition for the dial and movement...
Oh yeah

I look at it this way: Both movements tell the time. Period. Watches with Asian movements are easier on the bank-ballance. Period.
Personally, I can't see the point in spending extra for the Swiss options, as long-term reliability is a bit of a red herring, as all mechanical watches require servicing at regular intervals anyway. If it's not cost-effective to repair an Asian movement, given how cheap they are, it's still cost effective to totally replace one. And only then if it's a watch you really like, or has sentimental value. If it's 'just a watch', it's probably more cost effective to just buy a new one and run it into the ground in another five years
The only problems I've had with Asian movements, have been caused by my own negligence, not reliability issues.

BLASPHEMY!
Just suggesting a possibility...
Of coarse, if anyone has any evidence to the contrary, I would be happy to examine it, purely in the interest of research, of course

Comparing a McRib to real bbq ribs is like comparing jerking off to sex with Jessica Alba. They will both get the job done, but you would much rather have the real deal.
wouldn't be funny if Jessica Alba is actually a crap lay?

Okay, my father in law had a similar letter for a digital camera he bought online. He did not get the option to tell customs to shove it, as, the way the 'system' works, (or at least, how it worked in his case) is that Parcel Force pay the release fees to HMC, and then bill you (essentially, holding your goods to ransom) There was an article a while back, about a guy in the US who was charged the import duty on rep watches as if they are gens, so wound up with a huge import tax bills. If you get the option to tell customs to return the goods, do it quickly, or Parcel Force will pay the release and you could find yourself looking at a large bill... Hope it all works out, best of luck

If any of you watch the hit TV show "Heroes", you know Sylar is a watchmaker gone bad - really bad - If you don't know who I'm referring to, you can watch this youtube vid :or a longer version here
He plays in the upcoming Star Trek as Spok as well... on to his "Sylar" watch
His watch, that they've showed him working on in previous episodes, I've learned today, is a modified Hamilton KHAKI FIELD MECHANICAL
(or should I say replica - and not a very good one)
and a pic of the Hamilton :
the printing is poorly done and the 23 touches the 11 - the date wheel also looks too deep, date window frame too thick, etc.
Today's episode shows a character named Peter Petrelli fixing his watch with his "powers" by opening it up and using his mind to take a gear out and fix it in mid air - a bit of hollywood [censored] no doubt
thought it was interesting - that is all
If I remember, in the episode where Sylar is first building the watch, he tells Dr. Suresh that the movement is an old German movement, and I felt it was a case of him simply 're-casing' the old movement with whatever bits he had to hand (what the prop dept had cobbled together
)
You mean there is more to that show than the cheerleader with the tits? Huh, I'll be damned.Sadly not, that's why I stopped watching it
Cheerleaders and tits can only hold the interest for so long
Thomas Dekker clearly saw the way the series would progress, so he jumped ship for the Sarah Connor Chronicles

I'm still wearing this, but must confess an error on my part... I did not buy this watch from Tony, as I previously posted, infact, I bought it from MickeyPadge's 'favorite' (
) dealer, PWC. Totally slipped my mind, as so many of my PAMs have come from Tony... Sorry for the confusion
-
right TJ, we all share a love for watches, some are lucky to be able to buy gens, most of us here maybe own one or more gens next to reps...I vcannot imagine why someone would say something like V mentioned just because you only have gens....what;s the purpose of that?
Indeed, at a guess, I'd say it's just pettiness, certainly not something I'd take to seriously.
-
John's review was what first opened my eyes to Omega, and ultimately, reps. A very nice and well informed guy
-
At the end of the day, we're all here because we love watches, and that's all that matters. I admit, I rarely comment on postings for gen watches, but that's because I wouldn't have anything to say beyond "nice watch", as, being gen, the quality and details are gauranteed, certainly not because I'm jealous of the person or their watch
At the end of the day, if someone wants to blow their cash on a single gen rather than several reps, that's up to them
Don't let it get you down, K, you're contributions here are beyond question
Should I have sold?

I think if he was going to roll you in the parking lot, he'd've done it anyway (why give someone money just to mug it back from them?) Maybe $2000 was all he could drop that quickly. If it cost you less than $2000 to build, then it would've been a profit, but, I quite understand your point that the effort which went into it is worth quite a bit more than pure dollar value. If you feel you did the right thing, then you did do the right thing![:good:](https://rwg.cc/datastore/emoticons/emoticons/default_good.gif)
