  1. Well in that case... You will need a couple additional things.

1 10 pack of Trojan XL condoms

1 2fl oz. bottle of lube

    1 digital camera

I dont know if soccer moms are the same everywhere... but if they are anything like they are here, you should "shoot the winning goal" on your very first outting!

    B):lol:B)

If only it was 'that kind' of get together  At least the company is good :) Good to see you posting again, I hope things are good with you :) Can you think of anything vital I'm missing from my list (besides the pleasure kit? ;) )

  2. coole pams and the fiddy???

Having the movement serviced, and I'm sending the dial and hands away for a relume prior to re-assembly. I probably won't be seeing it for a while, as cash is too tight for me to have the work done, as there are more important things I need to budged for :(

    lol the fiddy hollowman

    nice coll

    helmut

    Thanks :)

  3. "paranormal investigations" ???????

    Seriously ..... W T F LOL

Essentially, sitting in a dark room with spiritually inclinded Soccer Moms, asking if "Anyone is there..." If you watch a show called TAPS, that's the kind of investigations I go on, not 'Most Haunted-style' screamathons ;)

  4. Okay, so I had been using this:

    Viper_Hong_Kong_Police_vest.jpg

as the base for my kit for taking on paranormal investigations (up to 8 hours duration), and future camping trips. I decided to down-size the vest to one of these:

    Vest-SA-DPM-camo-F_03.jpg

and, despite down-sizing the vest, it has actually increased the amount of what I can comfortably carry ^_^

I've added four additional 'pouches' on the sidestraps between the front and rear sections for carrying some of the smaller items, but I am really impressed by the capacity of the large front pockets. I can fit two 1 ltr thermos flasks in one pocket, thus eliminating the need for the poster-tube to store them, and improving my mobility ^_^

    Here's an updated list:

Three 'bandana'-size cloths (for use as bandanas or triangular bandages)

A4-sized zip lock bag (containing sheets of tissuepaper as kindling) (could be used as emergency 'food bowl')

One 'carrier bag' (without any holes in it. I figured it would do for an 'emergency latrine' )

One 'tool card' (Magnifier, compass, blade, can opener, multi-wrenches)

    Six chemical glo-sticks

Two Battery glo-sticks (Essentially a small torch, with a 3 inch red-tinted plastic cone instead of a torch lens)

One pack of 24 waterproof matches (in heavy-duty plastic waterproof case) which is attached to a luminous compass key-fob

Contents of three first aid kits (everything from plasters to condoms)

Four packs of batteries for vest torches

Two permanently mounted downward facing LED (9 LEDs) torches (one red-tinted, the other with stock lens, both torches modified with wraps of non-slip matting to maintain their position in the elastic straps)

One heavy-duty hand torch (5 LEDs, with lens red-tinted)

One 20mm wide roll electricians tape

One backup 'windup' torch (3 LEDs, with lens red-tinted)

One Stanley Knife with five spare blades

One Sharpie pens (double ended - Fine and Ultra Fine)

    One Butane 'blowtorch' lighter

    One black pashmina

    One black long-sleeved T-Shirt

One 2 ltr Platypus water bladder (Now useable to full capacity) Drinking line is fed through an existing flap in the top of the upper spine pouch, and secured to a shoulder strap for easy access

One ready to eat meal (Not an MRE, but a camping meal which is edible hot or cold, with room in lower spine pouch for about 4 more)

    One Spork

    One tube foot powder

    One can insect repellent

    Four disposable/re-useable waterproof ponchos

    One pack of tissues

    Two bulldog clips

One pair sunglasses (prevents me getting dazzled by flash-photography in dark, or, makes useful spare pair of sunglasses for daytime wear  )

One mini 'tool kit' of hex wrenches and screw-drivers (to be upgraded to Leatherman tool in time)

Two 1 ltr stainless steel thermos flasks (One for spaghetti, one for additional water in 'un-burstable' container)

    All distributed thus:

    DSCN0299.jpg

    To come...

    550 cord

    Stainless Mirror

    Sun block

    Bivvy Bag

20mm wide roll glow in the dark electricians tape (for securing camera wires in a visible manner)

Can anyone think of anything else which would be useful?

  5. Yes, there are worse things, although it is important to distinguish the difference between putting millions into one of my funds and giving me millions.

I hope to one day achieve the latter, but in the meantime the former will have to do, which basically means that they are never my millions and I have to sweat out the risk in exchange for a small percentage which I don't get at all unless I win. Good thing I have a postive expectation huh? The alternative is working for free and that will never do...

That is why I jest about the genius stuff. A monkey could do what I do. Successful trading is all about quatification of risk. That is it. Forget winning, but how much can I lose on every trade I make? If you know that you can mold a plan that consistently makes money using leverage if the market should happen to move a lot in either direction. Nobody ever knows what any market is going to do and analysis is futile. It took me 20 years to figure that out. Therefore you have to make sure you are available in case it moves, and that you have a way to take advantage of it if it does. I am basically always in if the market moves and if it moves a lot we make a killing. If it doesn't move I don't make any money - but I know exactly how much I will lose. Case in point is this month. We have been shorting the S&P 500 all the way down. Just awesome. It is the motion for me. My aggressive fund made 107% from 10/1 through 10/15. Can you imagine?

I hope the world doesn't end, but in the meantime, God bless the financial markets. This volatilty is a market neutral trader's dream. A wet dream...

But in all seriousness, the world is very close to ending and I'm dead serious about that. If you think the market crisis is bad, wait until the same thing happens to EVERY currency because the only way to fix the markets is to print money. And in the same way the bill came due for printing leverage on undervalued real estate paper, the bill will come due for our devalued currencies one day and there will be no escape from that stranglehold. Seriously, I'm not kidding - get some ammo ready because we will all be obtaining food at gunpoint when that happens...

Ahh, I didn't realize that that was what you do. I've suspescted I'd make a good stockbroker after playing the rather basic computer game "Drug Wars". I had a hunch just before I went on vacation that that would've been an excellent time to buy shares in UK Banks for peanuts, but, as I'm not signed up to buy shares, I couldn't take advantage of the situation :( Oh well...

  6. When are you going to wear something else other than a Pam bro ;)

Nice watch and shot btw

Wear something other than a PAM?? :o That's just crazy talk

Okay, I might wear my Planet Ocean when I go to see Quantum of Solace, but then again, I might not

    Thanks bro :good:

    dsc0008mu8.jpg

    Soon beer time :drunk:

    That's an awesome watch :good:

Gotta try and look sharp today. Doing the dog and pony show. For those who don't know what that is in my world, it means my partner has identified a new client that wants to put millions into one of my funds and I do a Powerpoint for them that dizzy's them up with quantitative liquor until they finally admit that my partner must have been right when he said I was a genius. God forbid the client would ever find out that my strategies are based on simple gambling principles akin to counting cards in Blackjack, which anyone with an IQ that breaks a hundred could easily do if they knew what they were doing and had some balls. Ah, but then it wouldn't be a dog and pony show would it? Alright then, I gotta go dip myself in radioactive material so I glow real bright thereby adding to the divine effect that my partner is trying to achive. If I look smart and glow during the presentation, surely the new client will think he has found something Godlike...

But then it will be Saturday and I'll be back to just being some dumbass wearing a rubber strap again...

    POrubber2.jpg

    POrubber1b.jpg

I hope it goes well for you :good: I could certainly do with someone putting millions into my funds too

At the moment, I'm wearing this:

But later this evening, I'm going on a paranormal investigation, so this will be coming out to play B)

    DSCN0296.jpg

    DSCN0297.jpg

Does sitting in a circle with a group of spiritually-inclined Soccor Moms really require the survival kit? No. But, on one investigation I went on, a key got broken in a lock, which could have made it an enforced night-long stay, so from now on, I'm fully prepared should such a thing happen again

  7. Sure TJ,

I just made a humorous suggestion regarding girls (not even "nude girls", check my post) and Corgi attacks on a sudden and bitter "grown up" answer? Then I could take out of it that I'm not a grown up, that he's a pretty bitter and angry person, that he may be gay (which is nothing bad, I do have gay colleagues and friends... specially girls :) ) and that he doesn't like any female figure, dressed or not, as easy as he imagines that a girl in a watch calendar must be nude.

Sorry about this, I won't add any more to this thread as I don't want to go personal on a board so important to me and that is a motive of lots of laughter and joy. Bitter people won't get any more of my time as a plain member. Any more to add to this subject that wants to be said to me please use the pm function.

I'm all about the calendar and the ideas you guys have posted, even the bitter ideas if they sum up.

    Chino.

As I said, I agree, Corgi's post could have been taken in a condescending way, I admit, it did seem harsh when I read it, but, I also understand that tone does not always translate as the author intended, so, remembering what folks said about my nude canvasses, I bore that in mind. I was simply pointing out that your suggestions about Corgi's sexuality or view of women, was uncalled for, so I felt obliged to stand up for Corgi. That is all. Case closed. Back to the calender :)

  8. I think .. like all our disagreements.. it boils down to a misunderstanding,.. I'm sure Chino meant tasteful images.. and Corgi has a point too.. so no right or wrong in this issue.. jus a communication breakdown..or testsoterone overload.. whatever the case .. can we chaulk it up to what it is.. A Misunderstanding amonst friends... B)

Oh for sure, I'm sure nothing was meant, I just thought there was no need to suggest Corgi was gay... Personally, I'd cast a 'no girls' vote as well, simply to keep the project entirely work and home safe :) As before, just let me know what you need me to do, and, if I'm able, consider it done :)

  9. Come on, that's not really needed... Okay, Corgi's post certainly read as being condescending, but, that could just have been one of those times when humor does not translate into text as intended, there's no need to make suggestions that he's gay or dislikes women. That's just uncalled for. I recall when I posted some canvasses I had drawn with silhouettes of nudes, and the overwhelming response is that people liked them, but couldn't buy them for display, due to the female elements of their household. I would think Corgi's comment to be along the same lines. Without meaning to put words into his mouth, I would suspect that he means he feels that a calender about watches only needs to be about watches, the pure hobby, which could be displayed. Nudie calenders, on the other hand, are not necessarily 'home use', but 'garage and workshop' material... Just my perception on those thoughts though... :)

  10. Hi people.

This is my second topic so i really hope i am posting this at the right part of this forum.

So... i am a big fan of Kenbergs Bergies topic. Really great stuff by the way...

Unfortunally it seems like Mr. Kenberg isn't availible as much as he used to be... at least i can't get hold of him :(

So i wounder if anyone knows someone else or somewere else were there's possible to buy as good stuff as Kenberg offers in his topic Bergies?

I am especially interested in shirts right now. Preferly with Frence Cuffs.

I really appriciate all the help i can get.

    Regards / JoLimoney

Ken had some pretty devestating family business to deal with not so long ago, so I'm guessing that's why he hasn't been around as much as he used to. I'm sure he will be back once his family commitments allow him to be. Ken's a great guy, a fantastic friend, and a true pleasure to do business with. Best of luck with your search :good:

  11. There you have it. I've learned about other collectors (though not tried by me) that have been around for awhile on other boards like RWI, etc...and of collectors that have decent reputations and success with a few members here on iOffer. So I think the value of this forum is that it is an open forum (moderated thankfully for stupidness)...but that people can share all opinions.

The tone of the thread opening post however did seem "know it all" by somebody with only a couple posts experience on this board.

I think personal recommendation is definitely the way to go, as it's that bit more personal than an overall :) As for the OP, sounded like a sock account, but my own moderation experiences have just left me suspicious and cynical

but if you don't find info on a collector you're interested in...it means not many people on this forum have used them...so go right ahead and try them...and post back your experiences.

Indeed, but that still doesn't actually mean that they're a bad dealer ;) Take Tony for example. Awesome guy to do business with, yet not widely spoken of, yet he is now doing his probation on RWI, and has set up a site aimed just for the members, who will get a discount. Now, before anyone says "Well why should only members get the discount!" or "That price should be available to everyone!", two points: 1. In life there are many businesses which provide discount to members only, indeed, I believe that is something concierge services provide it's members, so it's not as if there aren't examples where discounts are not available to all, and 2. Tony is (or at least certainly used to be) open to negotiation on prices. If 'a civilian' was to go to his non-forum discount site, if they didn't like the price, not only are they welcome to look elsewhere ( ;) ) but, if they were to email him and ask if he would accept a lower price, chances are, he would be open to that...

just don't gripe and whine if you lose your money or get a POS in the mail...because you're on your own on this.

The thing is though, ultimately, that is a risk people take even with forum recommended dealers... As much as people might make posts of support, or post reassurances that "[insert name of dealer here] will make it right," at the end of the day, it is a case of if the dealer chooses to resolve the issue or not, so to be honest, whoever the dealer is, ultimately, the buyer is always on their own, regardless of if the dealer is known or unknown. All someone has when going with a better known dealer, is the backup of information from other people's transactions to use to help with making their decision, rather than just going on gut instinct for how a site looks, and clicking the 'buy' tab ;)

  12. So the Radiomir bug finally gotcha. :D I got the itch last year and have`nt stopped. I did a couple in Pvd and settled on the 210. Have another Pvd case and considering this dial for a unbranded or homage if you like.

    radomrwn7.jpg

Once I saw my friend's, I think it was only a matter of time  I'm planning on doing a PVD 210 myself :) I've always like that dial, it's so different from the usual PAM designs. I'm sure it'll look fantastic in a PVD case :) You'll have to put up some pics of the PVD 210, I'd love to see how that looks :)

  13. I feel that modding is a necessity to rep collecting. Ziggy is the only modder I have confidence in (no disrespect to the others). I have sent him many watches and have been extremely happy with the results. He takes extreme pride in his work and it shows...

The only issue, as mentioned in the thread about Jakub's disappearance, is, to be as polite about it as possible, Ziggy is very 'selective' about not only the projects he will accept, but also the people he will accept them from. Now, that's his choice, and his right, but, it leaves people who aren't in that circle of trust, pretty much out in the cold with regards finding a reliable watchsmith who is well known on the forums, so with regards the bigger picture, I think it is not only fair, but a necessity, that there be more reputable watchsmiths who people can bring their project enquiries to in addition to Ziggy :)

PS Those really are awesome watch shots, I only cropped them out to save space, no disrespect intended :)

To all in general, to stave off the comments about not answering emails or PMs for fear of being over-run with questions, or helping people and not getting the courtesy of a 'thank you' afterwards, to anyone who fears such a situation might occur, I would respectfully suggest that you do as I do, and charge for your time as a consultant. Make someone pay you up front for X amount of in depth emails, or an hours uninterrupted phone call. That will get rid of time-wasters right away, or at the very least, make sure you are compensated for taking the time to talk to them... Just a suggestion :)

  14. Okay, I got the white queen's caseback off with my thumbnails still attached, and finally managed to get some shots of the movement. Now, I'm sure I know a crown release when I see one, but please can folks just confirm that the smallest depression just above and to the left of where the stem is entering the movement, that I've been jamming a screwdriver in, is indeed a crown release...?

No matter how hard I press down, the stem simply will not release. Should I try removing the crown from the stem and then sliding it out of the case with the stem still attached, or, should I just ignore the consequences and rip the movement out? I am planning on a movement transplant if necessary, but equally, if I could keep the movement intact, that would also be acceptable... What do folks think?

  15. Very nice watch TeeJay!

Did it survive the waterproof test?

Also what do you mean by AR coating on the crystal?

Doesn't it have the usual CN AR film?

Thanks, I'm certainly very happy with it :)

It fogged up on its first immersion, but, I then realized that the caseback still had 3/4 of a rotation till it fully locked. It was silly of me not to make sure it was secure before first immersing it, but just one of those mistakes which can happen from time to time. Once I stripped it and fully dried everything, I made sure the caseback was properly secured, and it was fine. I also had a half-hour soak in a hot tub, and there was no problem at all. Next test, will be to see how it stands up to swimming ;)

With regards the AR, it does show a slight bluish/purple tint in some lights, but, it is not as obtrusive as on my 004, so it might be an AR coating rather than the standard blue rinse which passes for AR in China ;) That said, I'm not really an expert on AR so I would not like to say 100% for sure. However, my friend's Radiomir had no coating at all under the crystal, and I think the coating on this one does add a certain depth to the dial, so I'd call that an improvement :)

  16. A hundred and eighty days ago, I wrote this review on a Radiomir I bought for a friend's birthday.

Well, I got one for my birthday, and just wanted to do a quick follow-up review. I covered pretty much every aspect of the watch when I initially reviewed it, all except one thing. Extended wear...

Having worn this watch solidly for about a week now, I can honestly say that it has really won me over. Not just because it's 'my new watch', but because it is so ideal for my immediate requirements. At the moment, I don't need the additional complications of a second sweep or a date wheel, so a base dial is all I need. The case is no larger than a Luminor case, but the dial itself is larger, so I'm getting the benefit of a larger dial, without the need for a larger case :) Now, I love my Luminors, but, the symmetry of the Radiomir case is much more elegant, and it slips under a shirt sleeve without even a hint of snagging. It looks ideal for wearing to the most formal of events, yet was designed for wear in naval combat, where functionality was the only requirement. Okay, so the Radiomir can't go on an SS Bracelet, but with a case that looks as good as these do, who cares?

This Radiomir was purchased from the same dealer as the first (although the price had either gone up, or I got a considerable discount on the first) and they are identical in every way, except one. Mine has an AR coating on the crystal. By preference, black hands would be nice, but, the silver hands remind me of my 127  The only issue of water resistance was remedied by completely screwing the caseback down. Slightly sloppy assembly in that instance, but, considering that with the caseback secure the watch is waterproof (so it is not a mechanical flaw) I'm not too concerned. Unlike the Radiomir I bought for my friend, this one is being worn with leather straps. I have fitted it with a 26mm Caoutchouc-style rubber dive strap to test its water resistance, and it is very comfortable on it, but, as previously reported, the shoulders of the strap do somewhat overpower the flatness of the case, and a leather strap is much more fitting. On my 26mm Andy strap, it is a fitting homage to the original Radiomirs of the Italian navy. On my 26mm BOB strap, it is casual, but elegant. A watch of taste, not ostentation. It's quickly become a firm favorite, so much so, that my original plans to transplant the movement into a PVD Radiomir case have been shelved. Oh I still plan on building a base PVD Radiomir, but I won't be disassembling this one to do so ^_^
