  1. That was a well-earned Corona Awesome strap
  2. Well, if it's in 'the nice part of town', that makes all the difference Indeed, but that illustrates something even more disturbing... A maverick manager who treats the store like their own, rather than following Company Protocol Unless it's an Indy Boutique that carries the range... They're a law unto themselves
  3. It's an awesome watch for sure, and, before I went over to PAMs, one I really wanted to try and acquire. I forget the exact detail, but I seem to remember another of the tells, was that the reps had some kind of 'line' at the top of the large indices. Either the gen or the rep (I can't remember which) had the line touching the indice, the other didn't... If anyone else who knows the watch better could chime in, it'd be helpfull I'd still like to get one for my overall collection, I think it's just a case of playing the 'waiting game' for one to appear on the bay
  4. I wonder what stance Mr Lauren would take if someone were to replicate his garments... Awesome find, and, as mentioned above, a gen would've probably equalled a window bricking... That said, I'm surprized the rep hasn't had the same results... Either rep standards are slipping, or folks are more keyed up to reps than we give them credit for
  5. Y'know the scene in Pulp Fiction, where Captain Coons explains where he, and Butch's dad 'wore' the gold watch all those years in Hanoi? I'm guessing that's how the watch looked before it was cleaned up...
  6. Fantastic, that's going on my shopping list Thanks Ah. I might have to start rattling the piggybank
  7. At the end of the day, it comes down to what flaws you can live with, and what you can't... The 104 I got from an iOffer dealer had the concentric circles in the sub-dial, but, I absolutely loved them, even if they weren't accurate to the gen. I had issues with the dial printing, where some letters were fainter than others, and, to be honest, made the watch look like 'factory seconds', but, I really liked it. I only sent it back because it leaked, and am hoping for a replacement ofthe same quality (if not better ) Best of luck with your decision
  8. I remember seeing something about a bracelet for the 127 a while back, being sold on eBay. I can't remember any other details than that though Seeing how that looks, I might just have to try and track one down
  9. I think it's awesome Even more so, because it is precicely how you want it to be Out of curiousity, is the buckle 24mm? If so, where did you acquire it?
  10. Still wearing the One Eight Something... Really liking it... Here's a quick and dirty pic of it [Edit to add] Yes, I know the NESW markers should be raised... I kept feeling them scrape when I wiped the crystal, figured it was only time before they caught on clothing/skin/something, and either did damage, or fell off randomly, so I used a razorblade to pry them off, and then the edge of a small screwdriver to polish the indentations back to a reasonable finish. I know the watch isn't perfect, I know that there are only three things correct about it, but I really like it. A review will follow in the near future, insha'allah.
  11. Absolutely awesome review BTW, La Dolce Vita is one of my favorite films
  12. I'm wearing the One Eight Something, on honeytan sharkskin I may well have a new favorite

    PAM 187

I had a feeling it should've been that size... Oh well, yet another area of flawed replication I must've got the runt of the litter
  14. Sorry I missed it, I hope you had a good one, and many more to come
  15. At the moment, I'm wearing my 127 on it's divestrap. The divestrap has been fitted with a deployant clasp I canabalized from a 24mm OP strap I ordered along with my one eight something Only an old pic though...

    PAM 187

Well, my One Eight Something arrived today I have to admit, I was concerned that the case/dial ratio might have bothered me, but, in all honesty, it doesn't (maybe there's hope for the Breitling SOSF afterall ) But. I would have to point out that the smaller dial is noticeably smaller, and a little trickier to read than my 127 (which now has a deployant fitted to the dive strap ) About the watch itself... Clearly inspired by the 187, I think 'inspired by' is the only suitable word. The case is 44mm, with 24mm lugs. I believe the correct dimensions should be 47mm with 26mm (Yes/no?) It has a quartz movement with functioning stopwatch. The '3' subdial, rather than running with the stopwatch, runs in synch with the main hands as a 24 hour counter. The printing of the dial, is gorgeous. The lettering is all done with equal print pressures, and totally uniform. No spelling errors on either the dial or the caseback. The bezel has NESW points rather than the correct time markers, but, not really an issue. The quality of the lume appears reasonable The watch also survived being run under a very strong tap without hint of condensation or flooding. Perfect for when I'm next kayaking down the Amazon and hacking through rain forest in search of Lost Civilizations Overall, I'm really impressed with it. It might not be intended as a daily beater, but, I think it will get regular rotation. Probably not suitable for someone wanting an accurate 187, but a nice watch in it's own right. I might track down an accurate 187, not so much for the sake of accuracy, but because the different details would be a nice option. Life's pretty hectic for me at the moment, but I'll try and get some pics taken when possible
  17. Wrap the watch round your fist like a knuckle-duster, smack them hard round the jaw, then yell "Did that feel fake to you, b1tch?!?!?!" I'm joking, of course As above, if someone simply says "Nice watch..." Then a "Thanks..." Is all that's required. If They're asking if it's fake to try and ridicule you in public, that's when you can always ask "What makes you think that?" and get them to cite points. Of course, if it's a genuine enquiry, then it doesn't hurt to explain that it's a replica of XYZ watch. As Pugwash pointed out before when this topic came up: No matter if someone is making a lucky guess, being a jerk or genuinely interested, at the end of the day, they are right: The watch is a replica, and to claim otherwise would be a lie. Welcome to the party
  18. Couldn't've said it better myself. I also predict great things for EuroTimez
  19. Absolutely Here's fingers crossed for a positive resolution
  20. I agree, that all dealers will eventually have a deal go south for no real fault of theirs, and in such circumstances, yes, after sales is what makes the difference. But. The thing which I believe UJ is talking about, and as myself and others commented on in a thread about Joshua's handling of a situation (which sounded top notch on his part), buyers shouldn't have to build relationships with a dealer just so they don't get garbage, they should get reasonable (for the hobby) quality from the outset. By all means, give special treatment or favors to people who have proven themselves good clients, but in the main, even a new buyer deserves a basic level of respect. Sure, some dealers drop-ship and some don't. Personally, I don't care if a dealer drop-ships or not, providing they drop-ship what is ordered, and are prepared to make exchanges should there be an issue. What I don't like, is dealers who use QC as an excuse for sitting on orders, but never actually QC the goods as they are drop-shipping... Indeed, lynching someone over a single transaction is unreasonable, but, when such things start to form a pattern (and to be honest, with several 'recommended collectors' they have ) that's when the forum admins should step in and say "We run these forums to protect buyers, not to protect you as sellers, the community of these forums is not for you to poach on, but to offer reasonable services." and make them pull their ideas up, where sadly, at the moment, very little is done beyond pulling individual sales, not totally revoking dealer privelages. As before, someone shouldn't get barred the instant someone says "My Best Swiss Bolex leaks like a seive!!1", but, if enough people with similar issues are making reports, that's when the admins ought to step up to the mandate which these forums operate under: To inform and protect buyers from scammers and rip-off merchants.
  21. Interesting decision, but certainly the most easy going. If the watches come through and are up to par, you'll have had the goods you paid for. If they're not up to scratch, you can still send them back and ask for the refund then. Taking the refund initially, would mean missing out the opportunity to see what the replacements are like. Smooth move
  22. I agree completely. Whatever you've got planned, you can count on my support
