  1. Semantics If people don't "post links and let people make their own minds up" (better? ) then people will never find out about other dealers, and posibly get as good, or even better, deals for their requirements. And I have enough experience to know that not every unknown dealer is a scammer, and that known dealers, does not always guarantee a flawless transaction/product. Buyer beware... Or however it translates into latin...
  2. I agree on principle about the prices, but, unless people do suggest new dealers, no-one knows about them, which could wind up with people missing out on good deals... While I would certainly advise caution when using a dealer who is unknown, I don't think the forum needs to run to RepGeek's standard of removing links to 'unrecommended dealers'. One person's 'unknown', is someone else's 'trusted source'.
  3. But IS it wrong? I mean, think about it for a moment... As I'm sure you know, the Radiomir was originally a watch issued to naval divers (Frogmen/SEALS/Hardassmotherf*ckers/whatever you want to call them ) It was supposed to be used in combat situations, not propping up (to quote from L4yer Cake again) 'naff wine-bars' Bearing that in mind, this black ceramic appearance is totally in keeping with that kind of combat aesthetic, totally functional (unless shattering would be an issue) and, if I may be so bold as to suggest it, probably how OP would have made the original Radiomir 'war watches', if they'd had the capability to do so at the time, as it would have perfectly suited the operational environment the watch was intended for use in. Imagine the watch on the 26mm Dive strap, or a carbon fibre weave rather than a shiny black aligator... I agree entirely. As others have said, unless the watch is replicated in ceramic (and going to be costly), and, depending on if someone's attention to detail demands the little sub/torp, the easiest and cheapest option, would be to buy a regular Radiomir, and have it PVDd. Perhaps that could be the option for the manufacturers... Get the dial accurate, and use a PVD case as a reasonably priced 'general enthusiast' watch, and then have a ceramic case version at a higher price, for those hardcore enthusiasts who are want that detail correct, and prepared to pay for that detail. I know which version I think would sell more units though
  4. Comparing to a Panerai, after a few months wearing Panerai, the 45mm Planet Ocean actually looks small Not as small as a Sub, of course, but still small In all fairness, the 45mm Planet Ocean is a large watch, but, it is an easy watch to adapt to once it's been worn for a few hours
  5. Ahh, the good-old Olsen Twins (at least it's possible to tell them apart now ) Now, if I could only convince them to let me design them hugely visible tattoos, I'd be set I didn't realize that EMU were such a known brand. I have to admit, from what I've seen, they certainly appear the nicer product. Then again, those honey-tan shoes in my wrist shot do up with velcro and cost
  6. What you really want, are a pair of EMU (brand) boots. Emily swears by them, and apparently, they're more popular in Australia than Uggs Also, they're made so the 'hard rubber' of the sole, rather than being totally flat, goes up at the back into the 'foam' later, so any unusual foot pressure won't wear into the foam so quickly [Edit to add] I forgot to say, but apparently, Paris Hilton once said she wouldn't be seen dead in Ugg boots
  7. As people are posting watches and shoes... These are more 'every-day' wear...
  8. I forgot to say... Don't do 'freebies' for friends and family... Enough to be considered 'advertizing' is one thing, but after that, it is a case of any work you're doing free for them, someone else would be paying for
  9. Duhhh, she was a Muslim... She would have got her brothers, uncles and father to do it for her
  10. All fantastic advice, I can't really think of anything to add, other than 'get the money upfront'. I've learned that the hard way
  11. I'm not sure if it's a fantasy model, but it is really nice I'd highly recommend them. They add a whole new dimension to the watch, and, if anything, make the watch 'wear smaller' on the wrist, as the eye follows the top of the bracelet to the edge of the case, where, following the top of a strap just goes to partway up the lugs, and the rest of the watch then 'looms' above it
  12. There're a couple of Russian watches which I'd like to add to my collection, but, I doubt I'd ever wear them...
  13. I think it means that they know a parcel's on it's way to them, but not actually in their posession yet... The only problem I've ever had with parcel force delivering something, was when someone (somehow) read the last letters of my postcode, as numbers The parcel wound up at the wrong depot, but, as I contacted them that day, it was recalled and delivered withing a day or so. I forget if it was delivered the next day from my call, or the day after that, but that was all. Other than that, they've been pretty solid
  14. Thanks, and congratulations to you too Who needs kids, we have guinea pigs Thanks, it's much appreciated
  15. Thanks I think that'd have to be 'pay per view' only We were in the same place when we filled out the form, indeed, we each had a hand on the mouse, ala "cutting the cake-style" to click "I do" In all fairness, although it was an 'online marriage', it was not one of long distance, but most convenient and cheap (read 'free' ) method, rather than necessity through seperation
  16. So far, I've only tried one PAM in the water, as the others have all been on leather straps... Model: 111h Crown: Lock down Seller: Tonyxkf Rain: No problem Shower: No problem Bath Immersion: No problem Surface Ocean Swimming (into strong tides): No problem Depth Immersion: Not yet tested.
  17. That'd be awesome, thanks for the offer We were only ever planning a civil ceremony, so indeed, that would be perfect Of course, any 'real world' weddings won't be for a year or so, but the offer is much appreciated
  18. We have running water and an indoor toilet Well, this is from the blessing email: Probably because it's not legally binding, so no need to be dissoluble. That said, the Islamic procedings for divorce should still work, not that that's part of the plan
  19. Thanks I think the interwebs make pretty much anything possible There'll definitely be a 'real' wedding at some point, but, this is certainly good enough for now. The email we received was very nice Thanks again
  20. Thanks, it's much appreciated
  21. Sweeet That's entirely as it was advertized
  22. So Emily and I were talking about the partnerships, marriages, extended engagements, common-law habitations etc of her co-workers last night, and we wondered if it would be worth simply getting married, rather than delaying things for financial reasons, and just have a reception in the future. I recalled that people could be ordained online, and perform marriages, so I wondered if people could get married online... A quick google search revealed a site offering such facility All that was required, was that we fill in our names, and email addresses, and then, akin to the classic 'cutting the cake pictures', we clicked on the "I do" button Okay, so the site does state that it is not legally binding, but, we did receive a very nice 'marriage blessing' via email, so until we can afford a nice 'proper' wedding, a virtual one shall suffice [Edit for spelling]
  23. From the above comments on 1950 movements, ie one screw, two screws, blue screws... What do folks make of this one? PS: This is mine, I'm not asking for advice on a potential purchase
