  1. Talk about surprize Heath Ledger found dead in New York Hollywood star Heath Ledger was found dead in New York in a possible drug-related death, police said. He was 28. Police spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan flat he was found in, believed to be his home. The housekeeper, who went to let the actor know the masseuse was there, found him dead. The Australian-born actor was an Oscar nominee for his role in Brokeback Mountain and has numerous other screen credits. He met his wife, actress Michelle Williams, in 2005 while filming Brokeback Mountain. Ledger and Williams lived in Brooklyn and had a daughter, Matilda, but they split up last year. Ledger played the suicidal son of Billy Bob Thornton in Monster's Ball and had starring roles in A Knight's Tale and The Patriot. He was to appear as the Joker this year in The Dark Knight, a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins. [source MSN Home]
  2. The annoying thing, is that Tony's feedbacks have all always been fantastic. The service I've received from him has always been exceptional (even taking into account the occasional 'glitch', but that's just the way of the world) and I've never read anyone saying anything bad about him, so whatever's happened, it's got to be someone who doesn't know the first thing about buying reps or how to deal with people. It's like people have said before about people starting PP disputes... They have far reaching implications...
  3. That's cool, and to be honest, I know my post came across as harsher than I intended, even with saying that it wasn't intended harshly, I just feel that posting gen watches (other than wrist checks, naturally) kind of misses the point of a rep forum. Indeed, great for reference, always nice to see what others have, it just seems, to me at least, to be missing the point. I'm glad you understood my point, even if you disagree, as that at least means I was making some sense As above... It came across harsher than intended, so absolutely, great to see other's watches, especially as reference. As for why not post a gen one, well, that's what TZ is for FWIW, I really like Tudors, and am really tempted to convert my decent Submariner to a Tudor. Only reason I haven't, is that I'd never wear it, and it's be a waste of my time and money. Maybe oneday though Bit of a false comparison though... Everyone here is into watches, some brands more than others, but overall, we are all here for a love of watches, but also, we're here because we collect reps (for whatever reason). To use your Asian Babes comparison, folks on an Asian Babes forum, while quite likely appreciating a pic of a Hispanic girl, are still peobably going to think "But we're here for the Asian Babes, not the Latin Lovelies..." As above, my post came out harsher than intended, no offense was intended (I'd've hoped the liberal use of smilies would have demonstrated that) Peace.
  4. It's genuine. And what? Don't take this the wrong way, it's a really nice watch, and at the core, we are all watch enthusiasts, but, this is a board for discussing REPS What kind of comments are there to make? Crown guards look about right... Dial printing looks crisp... Datewheel lines up nicely... It's not like there are flaws or tells to point out on gens I'm sorry, I really don't mean to sound harsh, but lately, people have been posting pics of gen watches, and while they're nice, they're not really the subject of discussion here. If it had been built from scratch from assorted gen parts, then that would be something more worthy of comment Wear it well
  5. I believe Tony's watches do come from China. The return address is certainly mainland China. However, the 2531.80 I have which has the 3 marker, was not from Tony. It was from another CQout dealer called Deeswatches. The 2220.80 I received was from Tony, and that did not have the 3 marker (the sales photo was clear that it was not present, so it was not a false advert, as has happened with other people) However, I believe, that Tony does now carry the updated rep of the 2220.80 which has the 3 marker, and OMEGA as metal attachment (the OMEGA on mine is printed ink) [Edit to add] There is a discussion on Tony's 'disappearance' from CQout in the Dealer Reviews, under the Other Dealer catagory. Tony is still doing business and still sells watches via his own website. With regards the prices he lists on his own website, he frequently gives discounted prices to his repeat clients. He might be prepared to take reasonable offers from new clients, but I have never done this, nor asked him to lower his prices. I simply ask him for a price in GBP (he advertises in USD) and pay whatever he asks for I would highly recommend him, and his products, to anyone.
  6. I use dish-washing gloves, and have been able to maintain a water-tight seal, on closing the watch, every time with them. Also good for use on Omegas and Rolexes... And dishwashing

    Bond 22

My vote was always for Clive Owen, but, apparently, he actually turned down the role. I don't think it's any coincidence that he appeared in the Pink Panther movie as 006, kept saying "I shouldn't be here..." "I'm not here"... etc, and was not (that I could see) credited on the end roll-call. Craig acted the part fine, he just doesn't look how Fleming described Bond. Rupert Everett would be another actor I'd've said would have looked the part.
  8. That takes cojones... I like that idea. Living dangerously And they're now a happy couple, I bet Armin, sorry to hear you got called out, but, as people said here, and myself and others have said many many times, in countless discussions, "Is it a fake?" is the automatic reaction to the name Rolex. As far as the average schmoe is concerned, Rolex = Fake. I bet if you'd've been wearing a Panerai, while you might not've been asked if it was real, he likely would've made some other ass-hat cheap shot to try and put you down in front of the birthday girl. As Victoria said, this is the kind of 'friend' who steals girlfriends: a bad one.

    My 111H

I'd start by saying only modify things you think need to be improved upon. Hardly anyone knows what Panerai are, so no one is going to be giving you the "Is that real??" you'd get with a Rolex, so bearing that in mind, why spend the money on modifications only you will notice (unless they are things you want to do). Can you see the lume enough for your purposes? If not, get it re-lumed. Do you want AR coating on the dial? If so, have it ARd Do you really care about the cannon pinion not being flush with the hands? If so, get it swapped. Of course, you might find that the watch is acceptable to you 'as is', and you won't even want to have those things done. If that's the case, then take the money you'd've spent on mods, and buy another watch for your collection [Edit to add] Welcome to the party
  10. I'd agree with everything said above: Visit an AD to try one on. If you think the 42mm is too small, then you should find the 45mm to be okay. Also, yes, the rubber strap makes the watch much more comfortable than the SS bracelet, which only makes the watch heavy and noticeable against the back of the hand. It's no Panerai ( ) but the Planet Ocean is a fine watch, I'm sure you'll enjoy wearing it
  11. Three Barrels!!! I think that's always going to amuse me
  12. In the absense of the rating system (that was soooo handy for putting a quick comment to a post rather than having to reply) I think I'll just start posting single emoticons to express the overall opinion I have to admit, it's not too bad, that said, it is still quite stiff (and I did burst a side trying to twist it to soften it ) but, for occasional darker brown matches, it's not too bad No hurry
  13. I got one of my favorite shoes back from having the heels re-built First time I've ever liked a pair of shoes enough to get them repaired rather than replaced, so, to get the best color match, I was wearing my 127 on its original factory strap Not sure how the weather's going to be tomorrow though, so, depending on footwear, the watch might wind up back on the dive strap to go with my Vans
  14. You're not claiming to be normal. Fair enough At the end of the day, if you want to pray for the death of others, go for it. I'm sure God will take it all into consideration when the time comes. Peace be upon you.
  15. No problem at all, always happy to help
  16. All my Omegas are Asians and, most are from Tony. Never had any problem with them (that I didn't create by trying to regulate the movements with the delicacy of a charging rhino ) and they all keep good time. I would wear them, but, well, they're not PAMs Of course, it goes without saying that I'd highly recommend Tony as a dealer to anyone
  17. That is embarassing At least when the Omega Logos on the Planet Oceans were crooked, it was possible to re-set the logo, that, however, is un-fixable... Of course, just gives the factories scope to bring out another version with corrected logo
  18. I'd say that the 11 and 1 markers are the same distance from 'dial center' as the 5 and 7 markers are. I'd suggest that it the difference in width between the 12 and 6 markers might be throwing the eye off slightly... Hope all's well with you
  19. I just had a thought, would an 029a be 'too busy' for you? I admit, mine hardly sees wrist time, but it is one of my favorites, and, if you're someone who would use the GMT facility, a very usefull watch
  20. If you definitely want a 127, I'd say look for another dealer who has them, rather than choosing a different watch from Angus. Best of luck with your purchase
  21. Thanks again, my friend Thanks, I'll definitely keep that in mind for when the time comes
  22. If you don't understand why praying for the death of someone is not cool, there is no point me explaining it to you. As for the rest: Who are you to judge and decide who is good and who is bad? As far as I read, it was a reasonable sale. As I said above, I'd've called the guy's bluff and arranged to buy it. If it turned out to be unsatisfactory, all it would require is walking away. No need for people to be getting all uppity over. So poor photography, or lack of decent equipment is now a shooting offense, is it?
