  1. are these movements better than the ones Joshua sells as the ETA 2836-2?? The same right?
  2. There's soooo much info here... use the search... google the Gen Pam... and compare all the pics... you'll be able to tell most of them yourself. Compare what you see on a 400 rep and a 100 rep... you'll get it.
  3. Do gen hands fit on the Asian movements?? Like the A7750?? Seems like I remember they don't...
  4. Just wondering if DSN is producing the best tobacco dial or cartels... I know usually it's a trade off... I am planning on reluming... Any help is appreciated...
  5. The newest "ultimate" pams have a much stronger mag... Almost distorts the date and is a strong single sides AR... Check the latest pam104... Usually listed as "upgraded" or "ultimate" this watch with the lello and the updated crystal would be rediculous!!
  6. The mag on the cyclops looks weaker on DSNs than on the latest upgraded cartels... anyone know if the cartel crystals fit DSNs?
  7. Hows the DSN date font and mag?? that's the only thing that seemed to be a little off... but I haven't seen a good pic...
  8. OK... the crowns are the same as the other Gen crowns that have been offered... all the gaskets are intact as these are new old stock. Attached are a couple pics... please excuse the quality level as my cybershot is shot... this was my phone's cam with a magnifier... heh... these are for the automatics only so no manual movements... I haven't been able to upgrade my membership so pms are clogged... just post here if you're interested and I can gage how many really want them... I only have this small number and then that's it... and like I mentioned, if anyone has a nice SS CG, please let me know... Thanks kruzer00 for the link... those are identical... 9. No problem... these things don't take a good pic since they're smaller than they seem... once I figure out how to capture them I'll post some pics... should be tomorrow...
  10. I have this same watch but from King... the cyclops doesn't look like this at all so I'm thinking it's a goof... should look very clean though the date font I feel is still not quite Gen... but light years closer if it's wrong; it looks more off as the date gets into the double digits. The only other flaws are the CG... which is really very bad in my opinion... it is completely flat and from many pics of the Arktos CG, it should have the typical contour from the body of the watch to the radius... and the CG still has the ongoing issue of not mounting with the proper angles to the body of the watch. Also, the font spacing is all over the place... brushed finish is waaaayyy too light, which I've easily corrected along with squaring things up a lot... the letters and squares on the compass bezel have a seriously sharp and rough edge to them and need to be finished off and buffed again... and the bevel on the rotating bezel is no where near rounded enough... which I'm planing on fixing... which if anyone can tell me how to pop off this rotating bezel... the razor trick didn't do anything but continue breaking blades... didn't do any damage to the watch though. This is just the nit-picking perspective so take it for that... it's still the rep I've been wearing the most since it really looks expensive on my wrist... the AR coating is seriously first rate!! It's the AR and the fact that the cyclops is at the maximum possible mag before troublesome distortion happens that makes it seem and wear like a true high end watch... also the Crown is only a small amount away from a gen crown... in fact, I took one of my Gen crowns and rotated it along the rep crown like a gear... it's the same number of grooves just with a little less depth... the age of the Super Rep is upon us!!! but modding will never die!
  11. OK... where we at??? It's past the end of the month and I'mma ready!!! Let us know where the DWs are and when we can pay!!
  12. I have a few Gen Pam crowns available if anyone is interested... I know there are a few floating around out there but I've been in the jewelry biz and my friend sent me a dozen crowns to pick through and send back the rest... I'm keeping 3... they're all 1.9mm with 3 seals and all are stainless steel. I can post picks if anyone's interested... otherwise I'll be shipping them back but I thought I'd see if anyone wanted to save me the shipping cost back. Cost would be $60 plus whatever shipping you opt for... quality difference is very noticeable against even the newest reps... even the new Arktos, which I have, can't compare. Let me know if anyone's interested... P.S. would also be interested in a trade for a decent SS CG as the new "Updated" Arktos has a seriously horrible CG!!
  13. where did you get your rep??
  14. how'd you make the top dial look so aged? Looks incredibly awesome!! killer...
  15. dead link...
  16. look how much money has been laid out by the very tiny few on mags, DWs, crowns, etc... any or all of these items on a watch to begin with would slaughter the competition... huge advantage that the other makers wouldn't be able to catch up with... they need to realize that the folks only wanting to spend $100 will put up with whatever... those who have $300-$400 to spend will find the best and most accurate... Long live the high end reps!!!
  17. pvd is physical vapor deposition... it's a different method of plating... involves a vacuum chamber and is much like the way they make high precision mirrors for telescopes, etc... super thin layer... three things will affect the look... the bead used, how close the blaster is and the exact type of coating used... also the pvd coating can be slightly buffed after you're done... that's kinda what that gen pic looked like. others had mentioned powder coating in other threads which is miles and miles different... not even the same game at all... this is closer to electro plating. I would try for a more matte look and using a rouge cloth gently polish to give it a slight sheen...
  18. for that kind of money though they need to fix the bezel... numbers and markers look way off... gen has nice fine lines on number, etc... pretty noticeable imo...
  19. put me in for 3!!! I've done the crowns, the mags and now the DWs... These are the full wheel replacement right? Or is it an overlay?
  20. The power reserve on mine is pretty good... if you fully wind it first I found it seems better able to maintain itself... The hands that they're using on this rep are from the submersibles... the skinnier minute hand and all...
  21. Those are Gen crowns... there's a thread about those very crowns that's been going for a while... they're doing a group buy. They seem to have been confirmed to be Gen crowns...
  22. font and mag are just as bad as the others... I have this one and it's very cool other than the font and the hands are all wrong... still nice though.
  23. 3M Emblem glue... made for putting emblems on automobiles... will not come off... might be more than you need though
  24. Ti is actually pretty soft... it's not just the surface. Ti is light and and strong in it's own way... but it's almost as easy to scratch as aluminum. SS is far more scratch resistant. Anodized Ti has a very hard surface...
  25. Please put me down for 3!! Got 3 of the cyclops' already... this one is a must!!!
