Yeah that one's been on the bay for a long time now... very high price... I've never paid even $1k for a Gen dial...

There still is no better option on the market... the ultimate is by far the closest to Gen but the AR is a bit too blue and the AR will vary from batch to batch... DSN will sell you his new one piece crystal which has 7mm cyclops and has less "Halo" but isn't as good in mag or look but better than everything else available and you can send it to be AR coated since it's one piece and not sandwich construction. Technically the 089 should have a 6.75mm cyclops and 088s would have the 7mm... If you want the Ultimate crystal you'll have to buy the whole watch and part out everything you don't want... which isn't too hard to do being that the ultimate has the best date wheel and the ultimate case set is very desirable.

All Pam crowns are 48 tooth... the T60s were a mistake and is why they were cheaper after the T48 was produced... some like the look of the T60 but it's not correct for any pam. All Gen pam crowns are spring loaded... in order for T or palpatine to produce an affordable crown for the rep community, the spring loaded aspect had to be omitted.

Oh I get it... you gotta measure the position of the jewel before pressing it out... then press it back in to the exact same depth?? A little complicated...

I read an article that recommended the Seitz tool... I'll check it out...

I'm wanting to remove and reinstall the jewels on the top plates of a movement... do I have to have a staking kit or is there any other way to do it? Can I modify my crystal press to do this or is it too risky that I might crack a jewel? I'm wanting to refinish the plates which is why I'm hoping to remove the jewels...

Post here in the "WTB Section" to be on the "List" Who knows how many batches there will be... this could be the only run Nightwatch does and if so, don't kick yourself for not having gotten one... or three... Over the years I've bought Chief cyclops, V Crown Guards, Lello Date Wheels, stuff from Finepix, and many other talented individuals... most of the time I didn't have a project and I usually bought more than 2... if I didn't use them I easily sold them later or traded them for very rare and hard to get items... point is there's no risk to buying one or two of these case backs but when they're gone you may never get a chance to get one and if you do you may have to pay through the nose... V-CGs have sold for over $400 at times, and I just traded one of my old stock V-CGs for several Angelus Ross dials that are out of production So get in at the beginning because you can always sell it later.

That's true but it sure would be pretty I've heard of some Gen owners having display backs made just for show... as long as you have the original... Here's a pic from my watchmasters case with custom engraving... this is old school:

I'm trying to convince Nightwatch that this engraving would be highly desirable... If you agree then please oh please chime in and show support... I for one don't like the look of a display case back without engraving... but DSN's case backs are not only too thin but the engraving is waaaayy off... I did... bought 3 from otto frei... they're currently in some EL 063s... just thought the availability of 2893-2s had been discussed along with price point and if the date orientation mattered... just trying to help the community...

These have been available for about that price for a couple months now... I ordered 3 for my pam projects... they wont be available for long though. I would only recommend the Ultimate 088... as for dials, DSN's dials suffer from some little geometry issues that are extremely noticeable to me... the angles, the thickness of the indices... something... I can always spot a DSN dial... especially the autos. Plus the ultimate 088 has the ultimate crystal and cyclops which is seriously night and day difference from DSN an is the ONLY crystal that is almost Gen level... and the ultimate 088 has the Gen shaped date font wich is much thicker and crisper than DSN... bottom line is it's worth the extra $$ for the Ultimate from Josh or Andrew...
