  1. Looks good! I'd like to see the rest of the photos... Fixed a couple of the pics for ya: Nice looking mov't!
  2. Here are 2 of my faves from SW: Vintage expI with some case distressing and a relume. With gen. type springbars from ebay. The cheapest CN Fiddy they sell with a BOB strap. After a little tinkering. Go for it if you want to do some DIY stuff!
  3. Oh no. Gotta drag the axe out. The Boss rocks! Anyone have any comments on "The ghost of Tom Joad"? Awesome album. "Youngstown" is a killer song and would probably be a fun one to learn to play!
  4. May as well blame everything on the Illuminati, the Bilderburgers or the Rosicrucians. Bottom line is that folks that we, as Americans, trust to keep us safe were asleep at the switch and the bastards snuck in and pulled of a brilliant attack. The f#@kers had been saying for years that they were serious and now we know... Screw blaming someone. It's just too late for that. Work the problem folks...
  5. Hmmm... Is the lip on the outside diameter? I still haven't taken my sub crystal off. I'm checking out an old explorer case I have.
  6. I'm just in love with the general "flavor" of the vintage PAMs. I love the engraved backs on some of the old ones but I also like a clear back so I can watch the stuff go round and round. This is sort of an interpretation of that general theme: The mov't in my vintage project isn't much to look at but I'm working on it...
  7. I say go for it! Re-luming just makes any watch so much more functional. If it's a good quality watch that you enjoy then go ahead and lume. This is a cheap-o silix rolex that I had done and it makes it soooo much cooler.
  8. I was thinking about making one. Are the rolex crystals hollow on the back or are they just one solid thickness? By the way Ubi, have you acquired a set of calipers yet? Thanks for the kind words!
  9. This is one of the easiest mods and it really changes the look quite a bit plus makes the watch more durable. I've also had the bent up rep bars come loose on me. These dudea aint going nowhere. This is one of my favorite watches. I think all it needs now is a new crystal. I'm looking for pics now...
  10. Fun ain't it! Ditto on the bench grinder. I also find a bench vise with soft jaws helpful along with REALLY GOOD lighting. Also get a good set of swiss files. I have some glardons that I've used for years. Cheap files don't work. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of cheap tools but cheap files dull quickly on stainless.
  11. Politics... It's too late to change anything and too soon to start shooting Bush and Kerry are cousins. The European guys are laughing at us... Sad...So sad...
  12. Just goes to show that our reps are good watches and with a little tweaking can be GREAT watches!
  13. In this scenario I'd grab a Seiko and be worried about my GUNS!! This clown can't really be an American...
  14. Not sure... What do you think?
  15. The front crystal is 1.59" and the back is 1.4". Both had compression gaskets. For the dial I filled in the seconds cutouts and trimmed the seconds pin from the gear and flipped the dial to make it a destro. The cheapo reps make excellent fodder for vintage mods! I have a Molinja mov't I may put in it, or something a bit more "special". Thanks for the input!
  16. Looks great! Looking forward to the tutorial!
  17. I sterilized the whole thing save the marks on the caseback and the "reg tm" It started out as as a super cheap fiddy.
  18. It's sort of my interpretation...
  19. Is it auto or handwind
  20. Looks good! It seems like your crystal is a little more "pointy" than the gen. If you could send me some dimensions on the bezel and some detailed pics I could make you one. The thick case back wouldn't be that big of a deal except the threads. I think the finest threads my little collet lathe will cut are 111 TPI but of course our reps are metric PM me, we could work out something in trade.
  21. Here are a couple I just made: I think it needs to be somewhere between the two. I'd appreciate it if someone could send me the dimensions of the crystal at the thickest point. I used .250" plexi but I think I really need .375" The first is just flat .250 with the edges radioused and the second is with a slight dome and some artificial ageing. I could do short production runs in the US as I have my own machine shop and polishing equipment. The hardest part was figuring out how to hold it on the lathe without scarring it but I finally made a fixture that works pretty well. The setup took a lot longer than actually making the crystal! A nice full scale drawing of the dome profile would also be helpful. My machines are in SAE so dimensions in thousanths of an inch would be helpful. PM me if you're interested. I'm not looking to make any money...
