  1. Would it be better to get a Swiss ETA 2836 and replace the movement ? would it be an easy swap ? date overlay ? hands ? Just an idea for the experts!
  2. That is correct Gioarmani, The 21J and the Quartz don't have proper dial spacing only the ones with the unreliable Asian chrono time bomb. I got 2 Quartz from Watcheden a few months ago and they have a Miyota OS20 Chrono in them and they work Great! they have sec @ 6 and chrono that works! they're much better than the 21J on your post
  3. Hi brian, Some years ago I had the same problem, so I opened the case and found that the plate where the rotor goes was loose and had to remove and reinstall some small gears and screw the plate on and it's been working like a charm since...
  4. One trick I used a few weeks ago was to use a small pin vise (it came with my small watch drill bit set) put the hand in some clear adhesive tape so you can handle it, then you put the hand tube in the pin vise and turn very carefully to compress. You gotta use a good loupe to be able to see the effect and I think it's better to start with very light pressure and go up from there untill you get the desired efect.
  5. Thanks Toadtorrent, but I want to improve my watch, and switching from a plastic mov. holder to a more professional and better looking metal one would be an upgrade
  6. Great Tutorial Thanks, just what I needed to fix my old LV My LV has a plastic washer holding the mov. anybody knows a source for the metal movement holder ring and the case clamps/screws ?
  7. Yes, it looks like my Miyota OS20, I use a sharp toothpick inserted in the hole next to the "push", the button is under there.
  8. I made a 'die' with JB Weld, cardboard and a nail that opened most Rep, but when it came time to open my 5513 Gen it didn't work. So I got a copy of the Bergeon set on fleabay, I think it was around $40
  9. One thing to watch out for is when you adjust lever A is that lever B should remain FIXED, otherwise you're in for trouble (I found out the hard way)...
  10. There are mainly plastic movement holders, but if you're looking for the small metal clamps they are movement/case specific and hard to get...
  11. Also if I may add, there is a big diference if they have an Asian Movement or an ETA movement, the ETA LV I got from TTK keeps better time than my old gen
  12. Hi Rod, I have done it using a 4X head visor, and YES it is hard to do, normally I grab the hand from the tip with fine point tweezers..
  13. Sorry, they have day, week, month on the sub-dials, I think those seconds @6 are kinda new, it might be wise to get a fellow member (like The Zigmeister) to take a look at it I don't think the 7750 movements w/seconds @6 that you find on ebay will work as far as subdial spacing, hand sizes etc.
  14. I have read this post with interest, so I did some more research and found a Silk screen Printing Kit, I bought it to check it out and although I havent actually burned an image yet (everything still new) I believe it would be of more use to somebody with the image file he wishes to print, the kit comes with black, red & yellow ink, I paid 50 bucks for it and believe me it is an interesting process.
  15. A couple of months back I got a 2813 Asian movement from Ebay ($30 total), it was a perfect replacement for my LV and yes I first got me a 2836 ETA but after figuring out all the problems with dial feet, date disk, hands etc. I gave the 2813 a try. BTW anybody needs an ST6 Asian movement for the non-chrono Daytona ?
  16. We'll I couldn't resist it so I took the plunge, having already a non-functioning chrono Daytona REP with what I believe an ST6 Asian movement I got me a Miyota OS20 quartz chrono movement; the nice part of this movement is that it has the running seconds @ 6 so I took the Daytona apart and did the mod myself and of course I ran into a few problems: First the miyota is 13
  17. We'll let's suppose somebody needs to replace his GEN 5513 banged up case with a REP case , will the 1520 Movement fit correctly ?
  18. Hi All, I'm replacing a non-date movement with a date one so I cut a hole on the dial, don't look bad but I have seen some watches with a 2.5mm X 3.5mm
  19. I also saw that case on ebay and it looked a REP case to me, I wonder if a Rolex 1520 or 1530 movement would actually fit in there w/orig case clamps, has anybody tried it ?
  20. Yes I agree, but I was trying to answer the original post question fron aresnans.
  21. Hi All, newbee here, regarding the original post has anybody considered the Miyota OS20 quartz chronograph movement ?
