  1. This is a good point. It would be helpful if members had the opportunity to identify their nationality (If they chose to do so) with their screen name, as in the old RWG. This could be in the form of a word or flag symbol.
  2. Yes, you're right. I hadn't reached that point when I wrote my post. I do wish Joe had said more about the communication problem and the delay in returning watches, but I'm glad that he's functioning and will try to be patient.
  3. Good Lord! Have you actually read the posts on this thread? Most of us have tried to get a response from Joe, by E-mail and by phone, and we have all been unsuccessful. Except for the divergences into whether Joe does good mod work or whether mod work is worth doing, that's what this thread is about. If Joe wanted to respond he would already have done so. P only wonder if there isn't someone who knows Joe personally and could give us a more informed idea of what is going on?
  4. This thread has really gotten out of hand! Apparently Joe did one or two mod jobs that didn't satisfy some members, and his approach to solving their problems didn't satisfy them either. So what? The number of posts testifies to the fact that dozens of members have dealt with Joe and are quite happy with his work, regardless of cost. The band separated on a a fun "Frogmariner" that my wife gave me as a birthday present, and the watch fell of my wrist and was dented and scratched. I sent it to Joe who took a month to repair it and charged almost as much as the watch cost. Nevertheless, the watch looked perfect, and I am more than content with the transaction. I next sent Joe a lady's TT Yachtmaster with a loose bezel. That was about a month ago. I never received an acknowledgement that he received it, and there has been no response to my E-mails. This is the real problem members are now having with Joe. It's not whether he does good work or what he charges; we all know the quality of his work and we know what he charges for it, and most of us find both acceptable. Joe has indicated that he is having health problems, and this certainly deserves consideration. Nevertheless, he should make an effort to communicate with people whose watches are in his possession and give them some idea of where they stand. If the board administrators can communicate this to him, it would be very helpful.
  5. [quote name='Gunnar Gran' post='46551' date='May 15 2006, 11:28 AM' Can it be hacked so as to remove the Xmas theme only?] Good Lord! Why would anyone want to end Christmas? There seems to be a good deal of wishful thinking about the real RWG. I just posted there again It isn't down; it will go on forever.
  6. I don't think most of us are afraid of being flamed, but we don't want to damage the reputation of a person who has always been honest and reliable and is now ill. Nevertheless, we seem to agree that better communication from Joe is in order.
  7. I'm not sure if you guys are joking or not. I've had my wife's Yachtmaster with Joe for about a month now. He has not responded to my E-mails. If he is not well it's certainly understandable that he is behind with his work. The problem is that he seems to communicate with some people and not with others.
  8. Well, there are people who want their children to be perfect replicas, and they are almost invariably disappointed.
  9. Yes. it's true; the question is how much does it really matter? If you look at Thor's comparison of a genuine vs. rep. LV Sub (cc/members/index.php?showtopic=4135), the first pictures, which show the entire watches, make it clear that only a near-sighted person who holds them a couple of inches from his eyes would be able to discern any difference. How many of us encounter people who would do this, or would even be able to do this? Reps and originals will never be identical, but for most of us this will really not be of much concern.
  10. Well, he doesn't really claim it's genuine, and 156 GBP is more or less what it's worth.
  11. It doesn't matter whether you post pictures of your watch or not. $900 is too much for an LV Sub rep., no matter what the quality. You can buy four excellent watches of this kind from Eddie Lee, Joshua, River, and other dealers on this forum for $900. Almost all of us made this kind of mistake before we found RWG, so chalk it up to experience and move on.
  12. Well, I was aware of statements to this affect on this board, so before I ordered I communicated my reservations about the rep tourbillon to Eddie Lee. He maintains that the movement is very reliable. He has sold 40 of these in the past two years and has had no reports of problems, so I thought I'd take a chance. Given the design of this Chronoswiss model, I think it will be a special occasions watch anyway.
  13. You can find the watch for $599 on Paul's site. Eddie Lee's prices are comparable. Sometimes he charges a little more for his superior communication and fast delivery time.
  14. Yes, that has occurred to me. The only hope would be to find skilled watch repair person on boards such as this one. Of course, I'm 75 years old, so it's a question of which of us is more likely to go first.
  15. What does a watch like this cost?
  16. What are the flaws in the dial? What's wrong with the "Swiss Made"?
  17. I just ordered a Chronoswiss Tourbillon from Eddie Lee. This is by far my most expensive rep. Does anyone have experience with this watch or any comments about it?
  18. The TT lady's Yachtmaster from Joshua or Eddie Lee is a very striking lady's watch—something a little different and more sporty than the usual datejust.
  19. I intend to stay with the old RWG. How can anyone resist a place where it's always Christmas?
  20. It's a great watch! What did it cost?
  21. My wife has a lady's Yachtmaster from Joshua. It's a nice looking watch, but it has a very loose bezel. Is this typical of the model or is it a defect?
