  1. looks awesome lani! i just picked up an oem rubber strap for mine and it really makes a difference ... so much more comfortable. again great pics! merry christmas.
  2. i really wasn't expecting this release, and at first glance the watch looks great. i would have jumped all over this a couple of years ago but as some of you may or may not know, i was able to find an amazing deal and now own the gen. i still may pick it up for comparison sake. with that being said, let's start picking this apart ... first off, it should be on a brushed tt and ss bracelet, tapering from 24mm to 20mm (double or single push button deployment was available in the "e" series). everything on the rep is titanium which will make it lighter than the gen. the bezel, crown guard and crown should be ss. the actual case, crown lever and caseback is titanium. the dial looks good but i'm not sure how the anthracite color compares. the gen actually looks different at different angles and can change from a light grey, to a blueish grey, to a dark grey and even all black ... very cool and unique to only a few panerai models. the font is a little off and there is a frame around the date window that should not be there. also, there seems to be a ridge line around the subdial but that is getting pretty picky. other than that, the placement of the numerals, sticks and "l swiss made l" is pretty much spot on. the worst looking part of the dial is the lume. not the actual lume color (it looks very strong in the picture), but the small squares that are lumed. the complete square should be lumed and it looks like they have lumed only 3/4 of the square. probably hard to tell from the naked eye, but it is really jumping out at me in these pics. the hands and canon pinion look great, although the actual pin on the gen is polished. date font looks ok but the mag is bad (like most panerai reps). as members have already mentioned, the crown pin should be flat and also a couple of mm higher. the caseback quality is poor ... the gen does not say " ocean chronometer" on it. in closing, if you've been waiting for this rep since http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA6W-0x-TfI, i would go for it! and although hard to find, there are tt and ss bracelets for sale from time to time. i wish i felt up to taking some comparison pictures for you but i'm a little under the weather. here is a close-up of the rep from davidsenjpn (i hope it's ok that i copied it here) and my dial which will give you an idea. all the best! rep gen
  3. wow, i wasn't expecting to see this! not bad.
  4. it honestly looks like the 42mm version, but it's hard to tell when the man wearing it is ten feet tall and bulletproof. unfortunately there were no other shots of the watch inside.
  5. looks great sander ... and great pics!
  6. you hit the nail on the head!
  7. you are right ... i wish all my straps smelled this good! that's actually not a bad idea for strap makers. they could make them in different smells.
  8. good one david ... have a great holiday!
  9. $245 and you'll find out. lol.
  10. be careful. that is a picture of a genuine watch. i recently sold an 098 and there is no rep of this. trust me.
  11. yes doc, this is a must!
  12. i had a similar experience getting out of my suv the other day. i took off my seat-belt and was stepping out of the vehicle as i removed my arm through the belt. my blacksteel hit the edge of the metal post between the doors very hard and i thought the same thing. the only scratch was to my suv ... thanks god. not a mark to the blacksteel. two good experiences from two good members. ok, maybe not the best members. lol.
  13. that's too bad. if you keep your eyes peeled, there are deals to be had on oem iwc straps. i got this one for $175. still expensive but they retail for around $400. all the best.
  14. good catch, although an easy one for us. lol.
  15. very cool. hopefully somone can chime in with some more info!
  16. very nice ... thanks for sharing.
  17. lol, it's just a feature in photobucket editing, that's all.
  18. for anyone that is contimplating getting this watch, please just order it. i don't know why i waited so long but now that i have it, i can't take it off my wrist. i've added an oem black croc which is worth more than the watch, but for under $200 it's like a sore [censored] ... you can't beat it. have a great weekend boyz!
  19. received mine on monday and is running perfectly so far.
  20. based on duty free watches in the bahamas, i would guess 10 to 15%.
  21. iwc big pilot v1 from king on oem black croc. loving it!
  22. no issues with the bezel ... very solid.
  23. 22x20. leave a note for your mailman ... that always works!
  24. looks pretty good to me at first glance. just need the black dial and date background.
  25. i thought the same thing when i saw the big review. i have owned both but recently sold my v1 before my v2 arrived yesterday. therefor i didn't actually have them to compare side by side. with that being said, i can easily say that the v1 was black and the v2 is grey. for me the $200 difference is worth it on this one ... the gunmetel finish of the v2 is absolutely stunning! here are a few pictures of both. all the best. v1 v2 v1 v2
