  1. If I was a gen buyer I would have never ventured myself into the joys and disgraces of watch repair. I would have never had the possibility to spend evenings to revive a dead watch. And I would've never had the satisfaction of seeing it ticking again. About watches to be recognisable? Seriously apart Rolexes and Pams very very few people anything else. I am sporting a LWerdelin these days (which I had to work on quite well) and no one that I know has ever even heard about that brand
  2. There is room at the keyless bridge level. There is less room at date disk jumper spring but still it ia feasible.
  3. Hi Micky. I think he is speaking about the dial spacer, not the movement holder ring. To the OP: any 2836 dial spacer will do the job. They can be found for 2€ on ebay. Ah, and they are metal made.
  4. No problem mate. He seemed (Mauretto) me a typical example of bimbominkia, then I realised that someone from 1980 is actually 36 now... Damn my age (I am from '75) By the way, have you realised that he was probably desperate... But in January 2015?
  5. Tube was removed (see pics at the beginning of the thread), what you see in the last pics is the Athaya one already installed. Plexy ring: not sure if possible without a bezel remover... But I have been careful with the heat during the process Mine too: Brand new cobalt 1.25mm bit and battery drill/screwer (the Ikea one: I have 3 power drills and a column one but the Ikea one was the lightest to handle and the column was vibrating a bit too much for such small bit).
  6. Since I've seen people breaking the crystal trying to keep the watch in position (i.e. for lugs redrilling), let me share my way: It works perfectly and doesn't ruin the case.
  7. Ok, here we go. With the macro shot some of the tiny scratch (invisible at naked eye) emerge, but I'm fine with it: I'm bored to mess around with the grinding and polish paste, it's a DIRTY process I know it's nor perfect, but I'm not trying to sell it as gen, so "it's good enough" I'm not satisfied by the "vintagization" of the bezel insert anyway... I bought another from CousinsUK, let's see. I'd like to move the pearl from this one to that one...
  8. The Ceramic Miramar and Portuguese (v6 and swf) that have my colleagues are not jerky at all
  9. No mate. This is an English speaking forum and writing in another language is disrespectful like whispering in the ear of someone in front of other people. PMs are a different matter obviously. (PS: I am Italian too)
  10. Thanks Nanuq! I surely went a bit too deep in the curve that link the CG and the lugs, 'cause I was looking at this one: But It's ok, it's a rep in the end
  11. Thanks Freddy, I'm using the pics from the web: there is a colleague that have a DRSD gen, and he wasn't aware of the value... When I told him he stopped to use it and so now only web
  12. Hi All, it's my 1st reshape, so I'd like to have some comment from the experts to check if I did a mess or I'm proceeding well. And if you have some suggestion to give me. One crown guard and the relative lug have been reshaped, the other is stock. The lug holes have been already moved to 1.25mm Thank you. GenTLe
  13. Just wondering, looking at the Hamilton H.31 movement: that is derived from 7753 and 7750... So it has 7753 configuration but quick set date through the crown... And obviously no sunken DW. Did anyone tried ever to install the 7750 keyless into a 7753 to enable the date change from the crown in that too? Cheers, GenTLe
  14. Not my thing either I was just commenting on the motorcycle engine By the way THIS has a real 175HP motorcycle engine:
  15. Naaa not a motorcycle engine even if it has some similarity. The only one that use a motorcycle (BMW 650cc scooter actually) derived engine is this one: And it uses it just as a battery help
  16. Yes I confirm they aren't screws but just glued-on bits. Rotor should be there kept by a screw anyway.
  17. Are you referring to the JK Factory (that Ia also on display on other TD sites like Ryan one)? Hope no... I have one incoming and already have a 2846 ready to fit there...
  18. I have seen various Piaget at watchfinder (Tim) site, td over the other rwg. This is his url but you need to ask him for the password.
  19. To the OP: First of all be aware that it is FULL of scammer sites out there. Sites like the ones you browsed most probably are between them. This forum (as like other "genuinely for reps" ones like repgeek, RWI or RWG.bz) have their own list of so called trusted dealers (dealers, NOT builders) where you can have watches for valid prices (set from the factories that build them). Often a TD works on multiple forums (such is for InTime -Ryan-, Torobravo, TrustyTime -Andrew-, Supermirrors -Sead- etc). The best stock APs now are practically all from JFactory and can be had from any of those TDs. Do NOT search Google for such dealers: there are many sites with similar names and graphics like those of the TDs but they are scammers. So ALWAYS look in here to get the right URL/address. Also learn that not always a watch that is on display at a TD site means it is available, so get used to ask for availability before to wire money. The process will be like: - you ask for the availability - td says the watch is available - you order it and pay - the TD goes to the factory and get it (it may happen that the last ones were sold in the meantime so the TD comes back and says "not available anymore" and you can choose another one or ask for refund) - he sends to your mail pics of the watch he is going to send you - you check if all is fine (in relation to the rep model you have chosen, NOT in relation to the gen one!) and if so give him the green light - he ships the watch and in some time (if customs will not get in the middle) you will have it. My little AP and IWC collection says hello
  20. Mate look here: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/for-IWC/1824407_502166936.html http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/18mm-NEW-HQ-SS-Silver-Fold-Watch-Band-strap-Buckle-Deployment-Clasp/217871_32636371745.html They both have IWC logo on them, even if not shown due to the recent AliExpress restrictions on counterfeit objects.
  21. I know what you mean by asking photos to friends... It is a week that I am stressing one of my colleague to bring his piece at work so that I can take some pics... This guy (who is between 41 and 45yo) about 1 year ago discovered that his old-well-kept Rolex, bought from his father when he was delivered, with those 2 lines of red written on the dial is worth A LOT. Until 1y ago he thought it was just "an old nice reliable watch". Now he doesn't use it anymore because he's scared He has a nice handwind Speedy to use anyway...
  22. I tried: twisted my tweezer... If this is "the way" (so if the plate is a screw itself) then I will retry with stronger tweezers Or build a hublot-type screwdriver for the scope...
  23. If you are lucky you may reach and pry the rest of the screw from the other side of the autowind plate. Otherwise you would need a broken screw extractor but those things are damn expensive...
