  1. simple equation... Take however much money lani has shelled out to you on AR... then roughly equate that to the amount of reps that money could buy... then probably times that number by 3... and you have how much money lani has spent on purchasing watches...
  2. Thanks alot lani. That was one epic post. Almost brought a tear to my eye (we get really sentimental over here in Spain ya know..). When i think of RWG.. I automatically think of you and your surf avatar... they go hand-in-hand in my mind. You're truly a giver and I think it safe to say that you are someone that we should all aspire to in this community. If i could contribute even 1/10th of the wealth that you have contritbuted here on the board, I would be content.. but i'm too selfish for that! For now, i'll just say.. thanks for all the free food for thought and for your positive presence on this board. You certainly are the "big brother" watching over us all in everything we type. Truly un "tio de puta madre". Viva Lanikai! Un abrazo muy fuerte, Plai
  3. dingleberry has caught on quite quickly for a newbie! I think he's referring to the customary "wrist shot" we like on this forum!
  4. welcome to the best forum on the internet. Enjoy it!
  5. still waitin for the pics of your beautiful SOSF!!!
  6. I used to order from silix in 2007 and beginning 2008, cuz they honestly had the lowest price for most everything. Now their prices are on par with many other dealers.. (like puretime for example).. Back when i used to order, The process was by email. and then you'd wait for jay to tell you which address to send the paypal payment to. Correspondance was slow but he always responded. it usually took about 3-4 weeks for my orders to arrive.. Since then.. I've asked silix about availability, but his lack of correspondance/super late correspondance really turns me off. If you ahven't paid him, change your dealer.. It's not worth the waiting...
  7. Welcome Karin! nice to have you! This is the best place for all things watches!
  8. I'd think it's more likely too.. but why would Angus be seling them as GEN. He told me in his email that everything on the watch was gen except the buckle... here's an excerpt: (Puretime's newsletter) "Dear All, We are having a good start in 2010, 100 new replica watches are updated in about 10 days only! Please check out the new watches in Jan 2010 here: http://puretimewatch.com/index.php?categoryID=306 The following are the key replica watches we have in the past week: 1. Cartier Santos-100 SS on Leather Strap ETA2892 (with Genuine parts) Supplier claimed this watch has every parts genuine except the clasp (though the buckle also looks genuine to me lol). Even the protective films are genuine, but of course the watch is quite pricy. If you are an expert in Cartier watches, I think you will be interested in looking at the 21 high resolution images here: http://puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=2131"
  9. Gen price is between $5,000 and $6,000usd. There's a few new stainless steel gens on the bay for around that price If they're real i should buy a couple and sell them online! the only thing you don't get is the box and papers!
  10. Not sure I beleive it completely.. if it's genuine... it has to be stolen right? What the hell is going on? Everything genuine but the buckle? How can this be happening? I'd love to be the guinea pig but for 1,500usd I'm not sure I want to risk it! http://puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=2131
  11. Weird... sounds like a mystery waiting to be unravelled to me. p.s. Lani... I've seen you write the word "fora" in several of your other posts.. and i've always wanted to ask you why. You often use the word "fora" to describe our forum.. Which is fine if you are referring to the forum serving as a host of several smaller sub-forums. Correctly one should say "this forum" or "THESE FORA" but not "this fora"... Fora is the plural greek form of FORUM (you should not use a singular adjective pronoun when describing a plural noun). I'm an english grammar professor and this irks me! haha
  12. First of all. POST PICS OF YOUR NEW BEAUTY!!! We love pictures here. Have fun watch browsing at the AD.. just don't be flashing around your rep! To the untrained eye your rep could look completely legit.. to some really keen eyes (like some of the ones on this forum) they'd be able to spot the watch within 2 wrist glances. Don't let the clever marketing of the rep dealers deceive you. Your watch does contain flaws in some miniscule way. otherwise, i agree with everyone else. this is DEFINITELY the best place to learn about watches (replica or gen).
  13. Congrats Hike. You da man!
  14. Way to pull the trigger. Very nice buy. I've got a blacksteel and thought about getting this grey version for quite a while. Although.. if you were here 2 years ago.. you would've known that there were definitely peices with just as much fame for detail and accuracy then as well.. (i.e. Breitling SOSF) It's just that the list has grown!
  15. How about the 6,180usd Royal Oak Barrichello solid rose gold REP? It's got an Asian 7750 in it and it costs over 6 grand! http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=1841
  16. I'm chiming in SOO late to all these intros it's embarassing! Welcome to the forum antiair. It's a great place to be a part of. Take your time in the game, but when you get one.. we LOVE to see pics! Stay in the loop! p.s. Red I didn't know you were canadian!!? I'd like my dvd back now please. haha j.k.
  17. Your introduction was truly of epic proportions. Seriously, you're a great writer. Have you written a novel before!??? I'm glad you've found this site. The beauty of this site is what you pointed out before: individuals from all around the globe, in one place to discuss without bias, the one thing that they all have a passion for. It's truly an amazing place. All ages, all religions, all colors (well.. maybe not all colors, i have yet to hear of any purple or green members..) all contributing to the common good of the community. I hope you enjoy yourself here at RWG! Cheers from spain -ry
  18. Welcome. Now that you're here it's inevitable that you WILL eventually buy a rep. It's all well and good that you have the drive, determination and motivation to complete a watchmaker's course.. but what will you practice your skills on? you're $4,000 UN? Forget about it! Get some reps to work on and you'll be entertained for hours, days, maybe even years..... (who knows with some of the chinese parts some people find in some of the Asian movements.... haha). Anyways. A warm welcome to the forum and I hope we become like a second "cyber" home to you. Welcome to the community!
  19. highlight
  20. I was confused at first. I thoght you already had the watch in your posession! Good thing you don't! cancel the order and tell them you'll find the watch somewhere else. Or at least source you a proper UPO. I got my Swiss ETA (verified) UPO for $245 and it seems nearly perfect apart from single sided AR out of the box. Good luck and good hunting
  21. I'm with Lani on this one. If you want to be really anal, you could send it back.. but if you plan on keeping the UPO for a LONG time you mind as well enjoy it as it is and opt for some genuine parts in the near future. Like he said.. gen hands and a dial would really make the watch almost perfect.. But then again on second thought... If the HE valve is indeed to low.. that's not really fixable. Since you didn't have one clean "straight-on" shot of the HE valve alignment with the dial.. i couldn't see if it's too low or not. If it is.. maybe you should see if you can get one with correct HE valve placement...
  22. Hey Bikemike.. Amazing. Simply amazing. We're all grateful that you've dedicated your valuable time and energy from work projects to spread and share info with us here on the forum. Great contribution!
  23. Since i started the thread i hope I'm entitled to at least 1!!!
  24. By hi-beat 2813.. you mean the 4813 right? My impression was that the 4813 IS the high beat 28,8kbps version of the 2813....
