  1. one thing is accidently wearing a rep.. another thing is telling them it's a rep... refer to my post "treat me like a millionaire" : http://www.rwg.cc/members/treat-millionaire-t33734.html
  2. Anyone know why i can't edit my review? the link to my post "treat me like a millionaire" is not working, but the edit option doesnt appear
  3. Both crystals on V2 and V3 are Mineral crystal and are susceptible to some scratching.
  4. Ok, So this watch has definitely always needed a definitive review about the different versions. I've had this watch since May 2007 and it's by far my favorite watch despite it's inaccuracies. The watch is both loved and hated by Paneristis for it's "non-traditional" panerai design, hobnail dial and blue chronograph needle. Many people think of it as a remarketed 212 with a waffle looking dial and blue accents. But to me it's something completely different and fresh. If anyone remembers my post entitled "Treat me like a millionaire" you'll also know that I even quite accidently fooled an AD while wearing this watch. Here's a pic of the genuine: Although my review will focus on V2 and V3 of this watch, the original replica of this watch was offered as early as august of 2006 and had a cost of about $500USD. The original "V1" had a 21.600 A7750 that was soon upgraded to the "high beat" 28.800 A7750. It was advertised as sapphire glass with AR. But I cannot attest to it's scratchability. It was a successful watch but had some very obvious flaws; mainly the missing tachymeter ticks as well as the ticks markers not being on a separate ring raised above the hobnail dial. In addition, this watch had incorrect serif font subdial numerals (the genuine has sans-serif). The 6 and 12 on this watch were very thick like the genuine, with a slight greenish neon tint. Members like Rolli and TineT were catalysts and publishing pictures of their first versions. Here's TineT's V1 PAM253: Around January 2007, this watch received a facelift. The tachymeter ticks were placed onto a separate ring surrounding the dial the subdial rings were raised higher and the numbers were slimmed down, but maintained the correct color. The watch is advertised with mineral crystal with AR and I can attest that my crystal has scratched once or twice since I've had it. The case and crown gaurd remained untouched in this version. Here's my V2 purchased in April 2007 from Jay at silix-prime (price paid $288): In early 2008, a new version with correct sans serif dial came out. The subdial ring height was lowered again and the numbers were slimmed down even more and lightened to a color much closer to the 212's dial(which is incorrect). The watch is advertised as having mineral crystal. With slight AR. The crown gaurd was also changed. Here's my recently purchased V3 from Angus at puretime (price paid $238): This review will talk about the differences between V2 and V3, and who offers which versions. I bought the V3 because the subdial font was closer to genuine, and like many people, I think I bought the V3 thinking it was the exact same as the V2 with correcto subdial.. Man, was I WRONG. Let's start with the subdial. The subdial on the V2 is great, with a really pronounced border ring, but the biggest flaw is the incorrect number 1 written in serif font. The border ring should be shorter and less pronounced V2 Subidals: Notice the less pronounced, shorter (and more correct) subdial border of the V3. Also the number "1" written in sans serif font: Let's look at the crown guard. Surprisingly, the crown guard of the the V2 and V3 are completely different. If anyone looks up any former posts of mine, I've had various problems with the V2 crown guard. It's quite close in general shape to the original (like an almost perfect half circle), but is not machined correctly for the watch case. When I first received the watch, the crown guard prevented the top chrono pusher from pushing smoothly. The CG lever on the V2 also leaves much to be desired. It's not very secure and gives the infamous CG lever gap. The V2 CG also doesnt seem to sit completely flush with the case no matter how tight it is screwed. I've had to replace screws from the V2 CG twice already. and once had to have the watch shipped back in order for Jay (Silix-Prime) to find the correct sized screws. Notice the unflush CG in the second picture V2 Crown guard (front) V2 Crown gaurd (side profile) V2 Crown guard (backside shot) Notice the gap between case and CG: The V3 253 is a completely different shaped and incorrect crown guard. (shaped more like the letter "D"). Although it's incorrectly shaped per genuine, the upside is that the V3 is VERY well machined, and gives a secure "snap" upon cg lever closure. The CG lever gap is non existent and all joints are flush with the case. The CG lever also has no gap on the side profile: V3 Crown Guard (Front): V3 Crown Guard (Side profile): V3 Crown Guard (Backside shot). Notice no gap between case and CG: Let's look at the too side by side. At first glance, most will notice that the font of the V3 is significantly thinner than the V2. The dial font on the V2 is the correct keylime green, while the font on the V3 is dull and whiter. They will also notice that the Chrono needle is a brighter blue than on the V3. The tick marks and subdial markings are also less pronounced and less white on the V3 than on the V2. V2 is on the left, and V3 is on the right: Here's a closeup of the bolder V2 dial font and lighter almost correct chrono needle: Closeup of the thinner V3 dial font and darker less correct chrono needle: In conclusion, it's a shame that the V3 lacks nicer, bolder, more colorful font and markings. But in my honest opinion, the new V3 makes up for that with its correct subdial font, and better cg lever and non-impeded chrono funcionality. The fit and finish of the V3 is superb and worth every cent, although it would be nice to see someone finally correct the mistakes of both versions and create an almost perfect PAM253. I hope you enjoyed my first review and that you let me know if I've seemed to have left anything out! enjoy, Fender
  5. this is not correct. all dealers do not sell the same version... In the process of writing a review of Version 2 and V3 of this watch as we speak
  6. Just got a beautiful Planet Ocean for $120 from Angus. It's a Planet Ocean Lite.. and as far as I'm concerned.. It's absolutely beautiful. The single sided ar is great, as I think I prefer it to double AR because fingerprints and smudges are not as big of an issue. I got it resized at my jeweler yesterday. Was curious.. because i hear virtually no rotor noise on this watch (asian 21j). I opened up the case back and it even appears to be oily inside there. I could just barely see a bit of oil shine on the rotor bearing..! Thanks alot angus for such prompt shipping and a great, "apparently" serviced watch!
  7. Hey Simon, I hope you can hold on before buying. I have just aquired the most recent updated subdial version as an upgrade to my previous version. This watch is in it's 3rd generation and each generation seems to have it's glaring flaws. I have in my posession both the Version 2 and V3 of this watch. I'm in the process of writing a small review which I'll probably post tomorrow or early next week. Most of your questions should be answered in the review. There's tons of info on the site in scattered places about the PAM253.. which is one of the reasons for me to write this comparison review since it's never been done before. Stay tuned. -ryan
  8. which watches are you talking about? My PAM253 has blue hands... as does the Gen :
  9. Welcome! You'd be surprised after buying your first rep.. how your taste in watches might possibly change. I came to the forum thinking i was a bentley GT fanatic... Now i cant even imagine buying a bentley after having owned, pams, hublots, chopards and audemars!
  10. So i guess you're having issues with about 50% of all automatic reps sold in this hobby! Seeing as how 99% of all chrono movements will have A7750s. I guess stick to Asian 21j and ETA280X movements and you'll be satisfied but without any chrono features... I have 2 A7750 watches and they've run great for the last 2 years without any problems. -ryan
  11. Bienvenido! Yo tambien vivo en Espa
  12. p.s. Just found out the official name and model number of this watch after some searching.... The model is "La Boutique Paris" Chronograph.. the reference number is 26041... I was searching around to see if any of the 50 pieces are being sold anywhere on the internet.. apparently not... (no big surprise)
  13. Seriously? How much was it going for. The genuine is a 21,600bph 37 jewel movement... Obviously.. half of the jewels being non functional pieces of expensive decoration...... haha
  14. yeah he'll ship it to me and I'm located in the E.U. in spain. free shipping worldwide i'm assuming
  15. yeah I agree with the "understatement" of the black and grey dial. I simply love it. King can give me the watch for $260 with free shipping to Spain... I'm 90% sure i'm going to get it.
  16. Does anyone have this watch besides 'Condemore' (who told me he got rid of his), and 'bosk'? I'm thinking of getting one and wondering what people think about it.. I'm also wondering why it's not more popular. Aside from the obvious errors like ROO 42mm case instead of correct 40mm case as well as the 6'oclock and 9'oclock subdials being switched.... This watch is one of the most stunnning Royal Oak Chrono's i've ever seen!. If anyone else has this model please let me know your experience with it. Found info on the Genuine here: http://www.thewatchquote.com/Audemard-Pigu...ion-No_4195.htm below is a photo.. compliments of 'bosk' from an earlier post on the subject
  17. looks great!. Maybe i'm wrong.. but i remember several posts of people saying that the "professional" was an error.... How could it be called an error.. when it's clearly written on your gen?
  18. Hey guys. Excuse my ignorance.. I'm not an omega expert at all, but for some reason, I've always heard that a consistent error on the 42mm PO's offered by our dealers is the "professional" written on the clasp. Is that true? I was just cruising the bay and it appears as if some 42mm gens also have the words "professional" written on the clasp... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=120366042098 Not sure if anyone has ever noticed, or mentioned this. I did a quick, half-assed search but didnt find anyone who had seen a gen 42mm with the professional engraving
  19. Any of you guys heard from Angus in the last 6 days? I'm interested in ordering from him, but before I order I wanted to confirm that he has GTXL replacement rubber straps for sale (the vanilla scented ones). I've sent him an email personally. When trying to figure out his website, I somehow placed an imaginary order, without meaning to, Since I didnt think any order would go through without a credit card, ( I just wanted to see how his process worked). After filling my basket, it told me that my order was complete. (even though i didn't pay). Soon after I get an email from him at a no-reply address, tell me to send payment by paypal to jackie0997@hotmail.com. This is the only thing i've heard from him during the last week.. and it appears as though this was an automated response... Anyone else heard from him during the past week? thanks in advance guys.
  20. Bienvenue au forum! C'est bien a voir qu'il y a quelques fran
