This post mimics my thoughts exactly. Honestly, I really can't spend $600 on a sub rep. I'd be more likely to walk into an AD and slap that down as a deposit on a gen. Sure theres better general value elsewhere, but I speak of value in general between the two platforms. Keep in mind, the SSD is actually over the $250 mark from collectors if you opt for ETA. A box stock noob with a copy ETA is over $200 to your door. Throw in an extra $20 for a WM pearl and your close to $250. I say this because for me at least, a 28.8 beat is essential.

SSD and noob are falling by the wayside to BK/WM9 pieces. Consider a budget friendly shootout, in the $250 or less range. It could be said, these two watches can still be respectable with simply a watchmaterial pearl and a once over to the crown guards. -The SSD (latest,v2). The only real gripe I hear is rehaut. WM9's 16600 is around the bend, but a handful of bills more. With a lite version available of the SSD for a mere $128, and a DG4813 movement running $30 or so, theres a lot to be had for a little $$$. -The noobmariner. Once the pinnacle, now underwhelming in the shadow of BK's WM9v2. How does it stack up against the SSD? A little less expensive, even with an all but mandatory asian ETA or DG4813 upgrade. I've been thinking about this to myself for the past two days, now i'm just plain talking to myself. Please, discuss!

I can't say I disagree. And from an IT perspective, stick with photobucket. Image shack is b more frequently blocked by proxy servers based on my exp.

How to restore & maintain a brushed/satin finish.
P4GTR replied to gioarmani's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I didn't know bench grinders were so cheap. Great idea. I also didn't know that sexy Daytona of yours was waterproof. Yah, right there, a little to the right, oooh, thats the spot daddy! harder! Great tutorial Gio, you are on quite a roll lately. -
Oh, you know. Open the occasional letter. Rid a garment of clothing of a rampant thread. Nothing ignorant about asking. If your seriously interested, possibly consider starting another thread since its such a controversial question.

And how oh-so-sweet that is. Further proven by that nice chart, which hasn't a mention of Movado.

Fantastic! Excellent workmanship. A fine piece to behold. I too, would like this watch regardless if Andy made it or not, but the lineage makes it invaluable. Love the case too.

Are the Swiss replica versions really Swiss?
P4GTR replied to William Campbell's topic in General Discussion
Yes and No. Some reps do come with genuine ETA movements, same thing you will find in Breitling, Omega, TAG, etc. Some come with clone ETA movements. These are a relatively new breed. They look the same. They work the same. They can technically be serviced the same as if it were a real ETA. Some come with Asian movements. Typically low cost, low beat, non ETA, like the 2813 for example. The suggestion that a 7750 would be hard to get is due to the fact that genuine ETA resources are drying up. Swatch co. the owner of ETA, has stopped distribution of ETA movements outside of, well, basically Swatch and its respective swiss brands. -
I know you guys have it really rough in the UK. But, at least you get GT-R's.

hmmm.. tough one. First word that comes to mind... First word that comes to mind... Oh! DOUCHEBAG.

Lots of pocket knife guys, and even another Spyderco nut. Nice! Quality not quantity for me. I have a few delica's/endura's but these are my fav 3. Bob Lum Folding Tanto, Carbon Fiber Military in BG-42 steel. and my beater tenacious. Greatest Pocket knife ever made.

Doesnt sound like too much work is getting done here B. Ha! If I wasn't whining about something my post count would probably be "14."

Good thread BT. I didn't know any of those brands until I became part of this community either. Whats Rolex's innovations and claims to fame? Trip-lock crown/waterproofing? I thought they did something more noteworthy. Its ok, the Submariner is so pretty. My list as far as how I perceive peoples recognition of brand existance. ROLEX Movado TAG/Omega (tied) I don't know why people know Movado so well and associate them with high end pieces. To me they are the unworthy of any stature, boring mall watches. I always imagine the design department sitting in the boardroom. Staring at a blank watchface thinking of a new design for it. Defeatedly, someone slaps a fake diamond at 12 and they call it a day. The result takes them by surprise as they rake in the money, cackling at the poor douchebags that bought into it. I always aspired for a TAG and prior to becoming a WIS, they were recognizeable to me second only to Rolex. I do appreciate their involvement in auto racing, as I do Rolex. I think they are fine pieces and show a lot of promise in watch design innovation in general. They diluted themselves as a brand overparticipating in the quartz market. my long winded reply.

Nice shots! The pearl on the SSD especially.. Tell me about it. Is it a replacement pearl? Looks good.

I need to find an "Omega" to go on my Omega dial. It go's right above the "automatic" print. I'd poach it from another dial if I could find one. I haven't had much luck.. Can anyone help me hunt something down? Its time to get things moving on this. It was my grandfathers and I'd like to wear it someday!

Chubb the single red catches the eye on that strap. Nice. +1 on the pics from the moon. I have a horrible time getting shots of watches on my actual wrist, they're always blurry.

Trying to change things up a bit. Lets see the contents of your pockets and wrists. Emptying my pockets will yield you those things. -very old Guess brown leather bifold. No cash. -Keys to home and the Nissan SE-R SpecV. Wilson-tactical lanyard for a keychain. -My phone -Ipod touch 2g/8gb (inside the black leather case) -Spyderco Tenacious model (knife). Another hobby. I have a couple nice Spydees. Unless I'm naked, assume I have one on me. -Tag, calibre6.

Thanks guys. I feel now. Pics were easy, anyone can do it. I used a relatively new point and click, a sixty cent piece of white paper presentation board, and ample lighting coming from the angle of your choice. I played with the outcome in Vista's built in photo editor a little.

See? Even we go back and forth. Ask yourself why you really care? The 1% of the general public that are interested usually notice one of two things. The hand sweeps, which is a good thing, and/or the bracelet feels flimsy, which is (in their mind) a giveaway. People simply dont know. Those that do, are people like us, and we aren't going to be fooled. Are we at a certain point then trying to fool ourselves? I've got a ETA classic (wok) sub. My first rep. Its unmodded, and I love it. its made me want a gen very much. What we consider crap, most would be shocked to believe is a rep.

Oh. So, basically, you refuse to shop at wal-mart? You boycott most goods and services China based? Have you gone off of the grid entirely? That chair your seated in browsing RWG is almost definately made in China by god knows who's 4 year old child. The kids already missing 3 fingers, of which, a piece of one could be rotting in your fake leather seat cushion.

I'd say enjoy, but I know you will. Try not to lick the caseback. You don't know where justasgood's been.
