    Replica Noob

Even the model used for photos is defective. Bezel inserts coming out of the bottom half. The pearls look like they're ready to POP when squeezed. I'd go with Josh's for sure.
  2. A quick look back at the past 14 years of reps, per my experience. Present Day, 2009: My gen TAG Present Day, 2009: Rep TAG Link Chrono. ~$240. Photo courtesy of By-Tor 7 years back, 2002: TAG Link. Quartz. ~$120. Still keeping perfect time. Links are not two piece, and are thin. End links are formed into the case, not the bracelet. Mineral crystal, easily scratched. 7 years further back, 1995: TAG quartz rep (obviously dead). ~$60+ Photographed alongside previous model. Bezel stamping is weak. Pearl is simply a dot of metal left in place. No "swiss made" markings on dial. About the best quality part was the caseback, although how accurate it was I have no idea. It remains in similar condition to when it was new. However, look at the rear of the case itself. The base metal is showing. The 2002 model has no plating. Full steel construction. The bracelet has a buttery feel to it. Inaccurate, but comfortable to wear. Improvements to the pearl and bezel quality on the newer model. Old model, entirely plated. Stem rotted off. Speaking of rotting, can you believe that bracelet? Newer model has a higher quality put into the dial. Swiss made markings. Lume. Nice metalic black hue. Perfectly centered TAG hallmark.
  3. Good thoughts Lani. Especially about the servicing. Everyone's watch is serviced lately. Also keep in mind, just because its going on the chopping block here, doesn't mean its uber boutique quality stuff. I've seen some duzies lately. If your not sure about something, ask. Most everyone here enjoys every opportunity to talk shop.
  4. bahaha welcome to my world. I've been shopping Breitling chronos (Window.. Shopping unfortunately), this one and the Skyland are front runners for my favorite. This piece exudes class.
  5. the AR makes a big difference. Lookin good!
  6. Yeah... Nice. I've been like this all day. Glad to see you have my back, or just taking satisfaction in busting my b>lls!
  7. LOL and I'm sure by now you've learned how to get your pron for free! I'm going to trim the fat off the original post. I'm much less of a sad cause then I was then. My fiance is great, still a woman and as such not into watches so much. More for me.
  8. What is that? 2 VS 2 Omega/Rolex so far? Didn't know it was a competition. Make it 2 to 3 then! I went to the darkside today-
  9. avast! (ablast?) me bildge and pump me timbers n' britches and feed me skivys full of kibbles and bits.
  10. I just took a look at this because of something another member posted. Look at how the poll turned out. 70% of our family and friends do not support our hobby. Thats a pretty sad fact.
  11. Theres a pretty good thread about family and friends being supportive or unsupportive I had a while ago. I'm not rich. I'm not poor, i'm truly just a middle class guy. The hobby is not enjoyed by anyone I know. The most activity I have is here on RWG. I'm not buying watches, not discussing them with friends in person because none of them are into it, Im tinkering with low end tools, 2813's, etc. I get little things here and there to improve what I got, try to learn more watchsmithing skills. Simply being on RWG is the best part of this hobby for me right now. It always has been. I'm around here all the time and I haven't even purchased anything watch related over $100 in about a year. It's my birthday Oct2 and I really wanted my first chrono (a skyland). But its just not worth the guilt. People want to wrap something and give it to me, not order a fake watch. It's rude of me to buy myself a birthday present. Something about the damn watches themselves blip the radar and chap significant others asses. God forbid one arrives DOA and they find out. "why do you spend so much money on those POS?"
  12. way to postwhore yourself to the quadruple digits!
  13. Hmm.. two watches for me today. switching the pam for the PO in a little while due to a major clothing change. to
  14. How old is she Ubi? Libra. Balanced.
  15. Its pretty funny, R. I just.. Well, lets put it this way: - You will see the birthday thread you made for me a year ago has reappeared. - I don't think you made a how-to oxidize Ti thread. I challenge you to show me such threadage. Top notch pieces of Pam. You have a great eye for straps, not just for the pams either.
  16. I was just going through lani's old posts and had a pretty good laugh realizing I missed this entire thread. So, a year later, I resurrect to thank you! Oh.. and its actually Oct2. I think I had selected a random date when I joined. RobbieG's post, priceless! So, Lani.. I just reviewed every single thread you ever made looking for your how-to oxidize titanium... UGH! No luck! A fashionably late thanks to all of ya.
  17. its going to be very front heavy. Cool project, but I imagine understeer is going to be a nightmare. So many other, better IMO options to throw money at. Nissan coming to mind.
  18. The DG's I was talking about are the one's Ajoe sells, which can also be sourced from ofrei, etc. I cannot remember the model number DGXXXX off the top of my head. I never assumed anyone would actually buy a 2813 if they had to replace the movement, but my mistake for not being clear. Whats interesting though, is that the PO's beat is slow. I never knew that. I also didn't know a 2813 from ofrei, etc. is not the same as the 2813 we receive in our reps. Great info Andreww, thanks!
  19. The higher beat DG movement is more expensive, but its a direct replacement. Thats why I quoted a bit higher. If you swap that in, you have the same beat as a gen, 28.8
