  1. The product ID number in the URL indicates these are leftover links for the old SSD, and are definitely NOT placeholder links for the new superlumed SD that the cartel has been working on (which in the latest newsletter was announced to be coming in a month, after the surprise release of the Explorer II).

    Thanks for clearing that up!

  2. " So just remove the hair spring assembly and pass it through a demagnetizer?"

You can run the complete watch or movement with or without the dial/hands through the demag. Be sure to have a firm grip on it.

If it is a 'tunnel' type demag...put the watch in the tunnel, turn it on, leave the watch in the tunnel for a couple seconds, move it out of and away from the tunnel quickly, turn the demag off.

Never leave an AC demag on for long because they are basically a direct short and can heat up quickly.

Flat top demags work the same way.

    +1

    That should do the trick.

  3. Great work mate looks fantastic, thanks for sharing smile.png Post tip is silver but because it sits slightly below the sec hand gromet (which is also silver) it appears black. Here are a few pics on the gen including the hands.

Thanks P. In the end I decided not to mod the center pinion. I tried some methods on an old hand and it is almost impossible to get a sharp round silver paint edge. The only decent way is to remove the hand from the tube or try to scratch away the paint with a needle. But than you run the risk of flaking paint of the hand itself....

    This looks great!

All you need is a Y shaped incabloc and it's a done deal!

Thanks mate! Personally I don't think the time and energy that goes into that mod contributes to anything. Who but us know these things ;)

Which one is better between this and the one from Kuvarsite's. Thanks in advance.

I never seen the Kuvarsit movement in real life but from pictures I would say the CDG and plating on the Kurvasit is still the best available. Only con is the printed movement markings instead of engraving.

  4. How hard is it to re-wind the main spring?

If you've never done it before it is not recommended. Unwinding is dangerous because the spring carries a lot of toque. Rewinding it is also trickie because of the winding direction that has to be taken into account, breaking of the spring and contaminating the barrel with dirth. Just try with an old watch. I can send you a photo tutorial. Shoot me pm.
