  1. Could be due to a poor case back gasket and or poor back glass fitting. Compare it to a door with a chainsaw behind it. Leave the door open a crack and you will hear it very loud. Close the door and you will hear it less. Use draft rubbers and hear it even less....is the door solid wood or thin metal or metal with thin glass windows? All effect the sound penetrating. Same as your case back.

  2. Sooo... If i should stick with non-gen parts... Should I go swiss, Goin/marlin-modded asian or even Goin/Marlin-modded swiss? What is most cost-effective/reliable?

    Thanks for your opinion!

You are missing the point. Buy a Noob V3 from any trusted dealer on this board and enjoy it.... If you have too much money buy what ever modded pam from whomever you like. Without an accurate description and/or pics of the mods you probably don't even see WHAT is altered.

  3. For what it is worth...

I can mod the sh!t out of reps and have done so for a lot of clientèle in the past.

All my own watches (I also own a v2 111) however are practically unmodded apart from movement service, waterproof etc.

Why? Because the differences between gen and rep are so small it just does not justify the time and effort to mod.

No one knows of these differences and if they do they will ever come close enough to notice....

    My 0.02 cents

  4. Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum. So can't post a new topic.

The topic is related to this one, so I hope you can help.

A lot of updates and revisions from the manufacturers noob factory and BP factory since the last post here.

I want to pull the trigger on TS Deepsea blue dial http://www.tswatchltd.com/15787-ro15787-rolex-116660-deep-sea-blue-ss-super-lumed-1-1.html

But Christina told me they only have the BP version, not the noob. Can any kind soul advise which version is closer to the gen? I have no intention to mod. I just need closest first impression when people see my atch, as I won't pawn it, neither will I let someone scrutinize the watch in detail. So, the closest look on surface is good enough.

I know the issues with cyclops, so Deepsea is a good solution, since I prefer to have date. A no date sub isn't that convenient,

I'm looking forward for your feedback.

    Thanks!

Only BP makes these at the moment and they are damn good. No worries. There are some reviews around. Use the search to find them.

    Mark.

  5. LOL, not a problem on the other forums :D (joking!!)

A related question, what it the best stuff to have in the US cleaner? I read on other forums that they have two baths, one to do the cleaning, and another a "post clean" dip that I guess removes the remains of the cleaning fluid and then evaporates very quickly?

Is "one dip" fluid as it says, stuff that can be used in a heated US cleaner that then evaporates when the cleaned parts are removed without need to blowing the parts dry with air?

I use 3 baths. 1 ammonia based cleaning fluid. 2nd with distilled water for rinsing (both US) and the last just a dip in spirit mix which will remove all the water from cracks, evaporate and doesn't attract dirt.
  6. Now if you had taken that movement and just chucked it in the US cleaner as is, would it come out working? ...

(ok, if it did, it wouldn't be for many months, but)

Probably not long as everything would rust.... If I would just chucked it in a bath of white spirit/ one dip/ lighter fluid there would be a big chance it would run again.

Stupid me. Should have done that and flipped it in the sales section with a profit 8)

  7. I just wanted to share my latest experience. I bought a fairly new rep in the member sales section which was described as 'not running' and 'easy fix'. I knew what I was buying and as I can do everything myself the risk was low. I went ahead and the deal went very smooth so kudos to the seller. No bad word about him. The watch was shipped lightning fast and was in fairly good cosmetic condition and well packed.

I knew he bought the watch recently of RWI in a M:M transaction so I traced the original sales ad and it stated 'movement serviced'. Another member asked 'by who' and the seller replied 'by a local shop'. The sales price lead to believe he did not pay very much for set service as it was less than the original price of the watch....

Well... After opening up the watch tonight I knew why the watch was not running... And it is not an easy fix.... The problem lies with the "service" it got. This is a typical service that most local shops give... Just drop in some oil...

The entire movement was contaminated by oil. The gear train, the balance hair spring , the bridge, the reversing wheels. Everything. No wonder it stopped. Nothing else to do than a proper service: full strip down, US cleaning and proper oiling....

    So the lesson here is:

BEWARE of watches advertised with 'easy fix'

BEWARE of hack watch makers. You get what you pay for.

    :peace:
