Bought these from Narikaa some time ago but just didn't had the time to do a write up. So here goes. Off course service from Narikaa was superbe. Great communication and fast shipping but what really matters is the product. In this case Mont Blanc cufflinks. You know, with a great suit goes a great watch, pen and cufflinks. As I already have plenty of watches and also Narikaa's great Mont Blanc Starwalker pen I just needed some cufflinks. These things really blew me away. I never expected these would be of great quality but they are! They're even very accurate. Sure they are not silver/ white gold but rather chrome plated .....but nobody will ever see. Let the pictures do the talking These are the only decent pictures I could find of the real deal: The box: Sharp printing. Manual/ waranty card. The complete manual is printed in colour and is very sharp. Sweet... 'Made in Germany' Yeah righ The engravement doesn't look like much but let me tell you it's very crisp. Due to the shiny metal and lighting is was very difficult to shoot. Clear coat with floating star Thanks for looking and if you own a suit these are deffinately a must have.

If it was indeed a 100% genuine Swiss engine it would be no problem. But it can be anything form a full copy, hybrid or a used movement....

How to brush the back of your Portugueser
Rolexman replied to sander's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Thanks for the tip. I think this would also work great on Rolli case backs. Too bad about the lettering but hell... great job and thanks for doing the write up! -
You freaking millionair, you! Just saw the bracelet is already out. Sweet.....

I see Josh just uploaded the price..... ridiculous. Overal I think this is a good rep (apart from the lume) but I think I'll wait untill the bracelet and 'Lite' version comes out. An ETA is just not worth the extra $$ any more these days.

Indeed, I would also disassemble the quick date mechanism and see what is going on. You could always remove the small gear which connects the hour gear with the quick date mechanism. This way you can rule out the drag. I'm currently working on this particular movement so I will post some detailled pics for you so you know what I mean. I think that will be somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I think it's due to the lighting. I've seen pics of the gen which look the same. The light is reflected differently as the pushers are round.

I knew it (click) Looks OK at first sight. Lume on 6, 9 & 12 sucks (probably from the same dial maker as the SOSF). Will study this thing first thing tomorrow morning. I need some sleep now http://www.jpc8118.com/0322c-p-5603.html

Which polishing mop should I use on my Dremel?
Rolexman replied to DemonSlayer's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
In my experience only Cape Cod can give you that mirror like finish. I do it the same way you did but always finish with Cape Cod. Sometimes I use the CC by hand sometimes I use it in combination with my Dremel. The thing you have to look out for is polishing too long with the CC attached to the Dremel. You can use it for a couple of seconds max as the cloth will loose it's solution and absorb metal parts, ergo making scratches again. My Dremel can only be set on 2000 RPM at it's lowest which is still too fast. So if you use the Dremel in combination with the CC move it over the area quickly before the cloth becomes dry and dark black. For large areas you have to refresh the cloth often which can be a pain in the ass. For the Breitling Prof II bracelet I had to use 4 small CC pieces (+ Dremel), not including the claps. -

Date jumps 2(!) dates at once at midnight?
Rolexman replied to Rolexman's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Thanks Zigg. I found out what it was. It wasn't the spring but the arm (don't know what it's called) I installed it facing down instead of up. Pic courtesy of Toadtorrent During my fix I broke the spring for the date quick set . I know this movement is cheap as hell but I just wanted to ask if someone perhaps have a spare which he wants to sell me? Or maybe know where to order one? I've put all my effort into fixing this movement and would take it as a defeat if I had to order a new one... if that makes any sense ? -
Which polishing mop should I use on my Dremel?
Rolexman replied to DemonSlayer's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
THIS is how I did it. You will get a perfect result, guaranteed. Just make sure the dremel is set on a low RPM. -
Indeed, usually you can just gently pry it out. Occasionally they also use some 2-sided tape but I never encountered that. Loosen the two screws on the side of the movement and try to gently lift the dial. You could try using a jewelers scewdriver as a lever. Be carefull not to stick in in too deep as you could scratch the date-wheel. Good luck.

The keyless works popped on my SSD Lite so I tried to fix it myself. I have all the right tools and know my way around watches. I did it with the help of Toads/ Ajoesmith's great tutorial on swapping a DG2813 for a 4813. No problemo Everything went according to plan and the watch is all assembled en looks perfect but now I noticed the date jumps 2 dates at once at midnight???... how is that even possible? If I set the date by hand it jumps just 1 date like it should. Everything works perfect, just for this one little thing. Any input is appreciated

I owned dozens of A7750s and ALL had movement issue's of some kind. There's only one A7750 which runs perfect and that one is in my BCE (so the chance of getting a perfect A7750 is like 1:30 from my experience). That's the only A7750 I kept. From now one only 3 handed watches for me. Like said in this thread earlier: The more sh!t your movement has to do the more likely it will break. I fully agree!

Same here, I owned dozens (A7750s) and all, ALL had movement problems of some sort.

Seagull ST-25 stops for no apparent reason
Rolexman replied to Rolexman's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Thanks for your insight Rob. I know my way around watches but removing the balance and pallet fork is something new for me. It does however looks straight forward. Only 2 screws and one can remove the balance and take out the pallet cover and fork.... Do I first have to make sure the second hand is running again or do I leave it jammed? IMO the train can't be the problem as it ran perfect for 12 hour, can it? The balance want's to move so the train transfers the tension correct. Maybe it's indeed a damaged or gummed up seconds gear in which case isn't it better to inspect this wheel first (don't know how)? -
When I first received my IWC 7 day it was DOA. I wound it, shook it but it just didn't start. I saw the Power Reserve indicator move and it indicated full after some shaking and winding. So the barrel wasn't the problem as the tensions of the main spring was transferred to the PR module....When I pulled the crown (hack) and pushed it back in the balance would make some swings and then stop. The second hand never moved an inch. If I repeated this the balance would keep making some gentle swings and stop. Each time the second hand wouldn't move. So I uncased the movement (greased all the seals while I was at it) and looked if something was jamming. Nope, Balance was free, hacking lever was nicely retracted and the hands didn't touch anything. So I slightly pushed the second hand and miraculously the movement started up. After some hours monitoring I concluded it ran almost a 100% accurate. It didn't loose or gain a second in 12 hours! What a great movement and watch, but my joy was just brief.... 10 minutes ago I saw to my great disappointment the movement stopped again. With the same problem as described in the beginning. At first sight it seems the second hand stoppped at the same position as the first time, although it passed that position like a zillion times the last 12 hours What is wrong with my movement?

Review: Omega Speedmaster Schumacher Legend
Rolexman replied to southcoast68's topic in The Omega Area
Thanks for doing the write up. This rep has been out for some while now but it sure is a well constructed and beautifull rep. I owned the Speedmaster Date Panda which had a lot of resemblance with this one (I think this one is bigger) and I still miss that watch .. thanks again! -
