  1. Certainly true as far as women are concerned (the one's I've spoken to anyway). I got my wife THIS Cartier Santos TT and it is a great looking watch. The font in the dial is thinner on the rep but that was the only really obvious flaw (she actually preferredthe rep!) we saw when doing a side by side at the AD window! Of course it's Quartz but she doesn't care, keeps great time. Much better than her gen Chopard (£5k) which keeps stopping and starting
  2. I just saw the one I would get - it is the ss IWC Portofino available HERE it's the stainless steel one with black dial - retailing at my local AD for £1,500 - leaving you with £500 to spend on reps!!! It is much much nicer in person!
  3. My local ad sells explorer 1 for £2140, and V recently got a 112h for pretty much bang on £2000 from an ad in Notttingham. I'll take a wander down at lunchtime and check it out, they have quite a good range down there...
  4. Not quite as imaginative as the previous poster but you could pick up a Rolex Explorer 1, or a PAM 111 or 112 for that much...
  5. My word, THIS is shocking...
  6. Interesting stuff... You obviously have a far greater understanding of the history of Panerai than I do!
  7. Good on ya Hank! We need more though, no time for complacency from other 'members'
  8. NO!!! You can't take it!!! I am not a free man, I am a number!!!
  9. Hey Thor, you may have had lucky 69 in the lottery, but guess who is member number 69?
  10. Congrats to the winners. Let's hope next time we get some more participation
  11. Omega Blue SMP Silix yes/yes
  12. Guys, I don't think I've received a confirmation e-mail, does that matter? Cheers
  13. i agree that people tend to turn into rambo when dealers have problems with buyers, and largely the buyers tend to get ignored when the situation is reversed. However, whilst EL's post was humorours and worthy yours was not. If he's stiffed you then say so.
  14. He makes friends easily, especially with dealers...
  15. I think that monthly memberships are a bad idea as people will not necessarily renew as you've hilighted. I think that annual or semi-annual are better. Also, I do tend to get quite fed up with members who've been here since the start, have hundreds of posts and aren't willing to contribute. It's all well and good finding ways for newbies to pay up, but what about established members?
  16. Yep, come on UK guys (and from any other part for that matter!) $5 is less than £3 - that's about the same as a pint (for us poor souls in the South East anyway!), which is not much to ask which will help keep this place running. See it as buying a mate a beer, except this mate saves you shitloads of cash!!!!
  17. Aye, a shocker at home for Inter, and some will think that Barca dropped a couple of points although Bremen are not a bad team... the rest as expected really...
  18. The mighty Stade de Reims were to be fair to them the French Champions at the time and they made it to the final. I hate to come out with cliches but you can only play who you're pitted against! However, the competition struggled at first due to the fact that certain FA's asked their clubs not to enter. ManU went against this and entered the 2nd tournament. Liverpool would have made their 1st appearance in 1964 unless I'm wrong. The fact that Bayern, AC, Liverpool etc weren't in it before was because they weren't champions. Now, you might say that Real's dominance in Spain during the time of Franco was dubious at best but you can't argue with their performances in international tournaments!! Oh, and speaking of stroppy Dutch strikers let's hope Dirk Kuyt has broken that particular mould!
  19. RVN was nothing short of prolific at ManU - an unrivalled goals per game tally in recent years I believe - including some against your beloved unless I am mistaken! check your football history - yes, the first tournament was short of proper competition but after that there were good teams in the competition. And if you are suggesting that the 50's Real Madrid of Di Stefano, Puskas and Gento weren't up to it well, then.....
  20. 2 tickets paid for. and coming my way!!
  21. To be fair though that Chopard probably does belong in an amusement park!!!! My wife has a Chopard, but slightly more discreet than that one....! To answer the original question I get a lot of nice comliments on my PO, and a few bemused ones on my 112h!
  22. Ken, don't listen to him, of course it counts!!!! Dynamo Kiev are not a great team but they are in the competition and have to be shown some respect. Real Madrid appear to be gelling as a team and early losses in the group stages are nothing to worry about. RVN has proved deadly in the competition over the years. I, for one, am feeling quite confident about Real's chances...
  23. Sometimes I feel I'm the only person who's not into Breitlings.... Anyway, regardless of that... welcome!
  24. I had to call the wife in to see it too! No harm in bringing it to their attention!!!
