  1. Mine: All 3 goals were exceptional, especially considering the calibre of the opposition, and the momentum said opposition had going into the match, all Copa America long. Julio Baptista's first goal was indescribably good. It was, as they say both in Spanish and Portuguese, "contundente" = roughly, no doubt about it. It only looks easy, to those who don't know soccer. To those who do...well, it's like my childhood hero, Marco Van Basten, bending one into the net from an impossible angle versus the old USSR side.
  2. Oh sorry, Dluddy, missed it in the shuffle. Thanks. 6 mos.?? That's not too bad, but the problem is with my outrageous strap collection size, even V's Greek hide strap looks as pristine "natural" beige as it did the day I got it. Ironically, the only "strap" that has gotten any kind of patina, has been that Mario Paci keyring I bought. Since it's in my hands every day, it mixes with the oils and sunlight to produce this kind of colour: BEFORE AFTER One month!
  3. Ahh, no. Don't you remember that Wrist-Check where I posted pics of that wannabe model-ho on a street corner? I then gave the RWG males some more "candids" which I had taken with foresight, for just such an occasion. He replied something like: "Dislikes Things I don't like about this Thread: VB becoming a roving sex-pest for RWG".
  4. Wow, seriously?? They have that gorgeous "polished" look from head-to-toe that women had before the late 1960s. Today that is mostly seen amongst Japanese girls of every stripe, and South American girls raised with utter delicacy, like Venezuelans. The only girls in the US who have that attention to being perfectly turned out are, IMHO, Southern girls like sorority girls seen on the Ole Miss campus. Being someone who, usually (right now, my hair is dishevelled and I've got rivulets of sweat bearing down towards my boobs) is well turned out myself, I appreciate that effort. Straps, err, well...how 'bout dem RED SOX!!?
  5. Great advice, as ever, V! Thanks. I am very scared now, since it's been threatening to rain these past few days. And during our rainy season, namely June-July, I'll just put this strap into hibernation next year. That's GOOD. I asked Dluddy in another thread -- perhaps he didn't see it -- how I could make it attain the same patina his has, which is an amazing smoky rust. I guess only time will give it that patina, as ever. Also, do you recommend the black? It's been one of the few weeks since July that I haven't gotten a Fedex package from Timeconnection.biz...jonesying here for a strap!
  6. And then Docblackrock says _I'M_ the sex-pest!! Nice shot, Fredua! P.S.: Bet you my strap collection they're international exchange students...possibly rich South American lasses.
  7. If it weren't for the pushers, that would look gen. Nice one, MajorBobL!
  8. My favourite quote so far: "34. Tailburger said: October 24th, 2007 at 7:02 pm Dude, you should have just kicked his hillbillie ass. Night Rider is the most awesome show in the history of TV. You could have beat his ass down and then called in K.I.T.T. to throw some Baghdad gravel up on him. Those jarhead dumbasses have no respect for you or the Hoff. At least those Ugandan guys know not to mess with your obvious credentials, or your street cred. With the kind of incompetence that gets into the military nowadays, I’m just glad that Gomer’s buddy on the other end of the radio knew about Night Rider. That show really is bigger than the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times. Next time, tell him that you’re not only taking down names, but you, K.I.T.T. and the Hoff will be also kicking some Marine ass." This was wonderful, Ryyannon. Doesn't the journalist's attitude kinda remind you of another famous faux-pas...Sen. John Kerry telling a group of college students they could either work hard in school or "get stuck in Iraq." And the next day, this was the response from our troops. Traditionally the line, "Don't you know who I am?" has been attributed to the rich, wannabe big shots, politicians, and other a-holes who want to throw their weight around. And finally we now have proof that belittling a guy who faces constant danger every day is more important than anything, by a journalist whose only motive is, "Outta my way, Beeatch! I got more important things to do, unlike you, you dumb hick!". And thanks to Pugwash for making it easier to read the link. P.S.: Peruvians ARE very nice.
  9. Drat! I meant to continue posting, but guess what? Some old offers for straps on Risti all came through today, LOL. So much for being done with straps. Receiving 3 more, so I was paying for them in the lull -- not because I was upset, or anything. Just to clarify. Thanks, Kollektor and to all who replied! I am very happy to argue any point, usually, but yes, of course, the exact emotionally-charged circumstances of this thread cloud the intent a bit. I am not in the least offended, and I would like to mention that I am dumbstruck by the level of kindness exhibited publicly and privately about the situation. I would like to highlight TTK, and thank him from the bottom of my heart, for his kind words. I always knew you were a softie. Guys, falling asleep here. We'll duel tomorrow (God willing).
  10. Emmzy, thanks first for your concern certainly during a more trying hour in my life, than would normally be the case. I just left dad, and he's resting well, but in hospital presumably for the next week. I would just like to say that though the "imaginary friend" remark was perhaps a little abrupt given the circumstances, I know our Pugwash now well enough to know there was no malice in his heart. He simply has entrenched views on the topic, and feels comfortable enough with me to air them, even during this time. Also, though I haven't read any other reply as yet (I am reading them sequentially), I'd also like to say that my placing my father's condition in this thread about prayer may have been awkward. My mind is not exactly uncluttered without feeling. I think we have discussed the topic of religion, however, so basically I was aiming for a broader point than just whether God exists or not. Even those who do not believe in God, believe in the power of positive thoughts, which some call positive Beta waves. I think putting it those scientific terms for some, makes them understand my point a little better -- though the President's usage of "our religion" and "crusade" in his speech was so astounding to me, as to make me gasp out loud. I hope we are all on the same page now, regarding my intent. Thanks again!
  11. Quick, hopefully innocuous joke about this. Overheard on Radio Scotland during an international match: "You will get stoned in the Middle East if you commit adultery, whereas in the West you get stoned to commit adultery."
  12. As an aside, have you seen how dead RWI has become since their change-over? Wow. 4 replies to the Mid-Week Wristies, and very little of the fast-paced thread replies I remember. I think David Niven played Klink in the film version, Murder By Death.
  13. God, I'm good. BTW, I checked and yes, I have a Kaktus. Eh. Not worth the money, IMO. (And yes, I have already bought one strap I already have because I have so many, can't keep up anymore. I should maybe catalogue, even if I don't post them here...)
  14. Drat, beat me to it. Yeah, from Clue + Ludo (an old Victorian board game). As for the scam, Colonel Mustard in the Kitchen with a Fiddy.
  15. From what I've heard, hacking into the Yahoo account is difficult, so these people must be professional IT guys or crackers by "hobby". http://arik.baratz.org/wordpress/2005-05-2...account-please/ The problem is with keyloggers and people who promise to retrieve your account, is that they will just add you to a database for their own nefarious purposes. It sucks. Speaking of prayers, will send a few vibes down your way, since I don't know how to solve your prob, Ryyannon. Wishing you luck too.
  16. I'm a little scared to count them...and check on them only at night, when my parents have gone to sleep.
  17. Thanks, too, Estaban! See, I love tans and reds. Dislike blacks, and dark browns. Not a fan of the sharkies, but love many exotic hides. Want a chicken one day. As per Lanikai, demurred when I saw an Elephant for sale by Simona. Won't court the bad kharma. Would also never wear a Dolphin, for the same reason. Irrational, but there we are. The Aubergine Bob Gator sounds fun! Will check that out. I need more Woj's, too. I KNEW I FORGOT ONE! Kaktus. Don't got, don't want. Greg...well, I'm afraid I used to agree with you. But man, are his Crazy Horse wonderful. I have 3, plus about 3 other varieties, and they are all fantastic, and importantly for us, age very well. Good choices! Mine, given your criteria, excepting TT/Savage: Toscana, GeF, Manifatture Firenze Mine: Mario Paci, Wojtecki, Zeugma Overrated, with a million regrets: Europelli Cordovan, Europelli Baseball, Kaktus, some Don's...(he's so nice too) And I think EVERY Panerista should own at least one Dirk in their lifetime, even if they cost a lot. Love it, love it. Am trying to get a Stingray from that company Doc-Bearcat, and TWP once posted about. They sell straps for uncommonly cheap prices. Will compare my shot to yours, when I do!
  18. Well, as I've said a couple of times, Scoobs, WITH REGRET, that time I posted the Strapitis thread it brought me a lot of comments about my personal situation, social background, parental stuff...that wasn't cool. That thread became about me and my life, rather than my straps. Click on it, as I hyperlinked to it above, and you will see... So unfortunately, I will not repeat that "collection shot". Instead, I promise to always vary my Wrist-Checks with new straps, which in fact forces me to wear some which normally I don't (I have a Historic Mustard Strapmasters which cost a fortune...and I never wear it, sigh). That way you can see what I say is the truth. Not that you were implying this, of course! Just sayin'. And you're damn right I want to be Mrs. Tanfo. My God, match made in heaven! His watchwinder or mine?
  19. Incidentally, I'm shocked how unimaginative celebs are about straps. Ex-President Clinton wears his 089 on the Diver Strap (which is fine, but not for official engagements with a suit!). Crown Prince Felipe might have a large Mario Paci, GeF, and Toscana collection, but he's invariably seen wearing his 164 on the OEM Brown Gator it came with. Orlando Bloom wore the OEM Burgundy on that Fiddy in Elizabethtown, we finally figured out, and on his own Cali 249, he wears the OEM calf tan it also came with. WTF? I'm glad Umberto Eco was wearing his aftermarket strap. But then, he's Italian and has taste.
  20. Holy crepe. I'll order it just for the name! Any pics?
  21. My dad, first. Me, I'm young, and the Queen is going to live to be older than dirt like her Mum. And Ryyannon, miss you. But then, you're tired of hearing that I betcha...still miss you.
  22. Thanks, UB7! BTW, my collection is not anything compared to V or Rolli. No clue what Sssurfer has, but I suspect he likes his actual watches more than straps. These gentlemen, however, are the true Paneristi here. I'm merely starting out and as DBR says, like to shop. Not on your Nellie! Seriously, not selling a darn thing in these forums. Just posted a WTB elsewhere, so if you have another Woj Case, a Micah Pale Rider, or a Don English Bridle (tan), any size, PM. Otherwise, tough noogies. EDIT: Check it here. Believe this was the one. http://www.strapmastersusa.com/Merchant2/m...Product_Count=5 Must be on sale, since mine was about $40-50 higher, IIRC. Wait until Christmas for the Strapmasters, I've been told. Loads of sale then...
  23. KEWL!! This is precisely what I was searching for. The relatively unknown, just starting out kind of guys. Not only are they cheaper (and I'm the Queen of the Cheapies...got two Europelli of my 5 for about U$30 each!), but often they have interesting hides, and certainly give one the most bang for buck. Tootall and Savage are exceptional in that regard, if you're looking for straps tailored JUST for you, at comparatively decent prices. Thanks, Vlydog! Hope you enjoyed the shout-out. I never forget a kindness. (I hope).
  24. Hey there H&P. Our Pugwash has some great screen captures of Ewan wearing his PAM on said proggy, on my "Celebs wearing Panerai" thread. Looks like the Titanium base, 176 to me (on plain OEM black calf). Thoughts?
  25. Baby, thanks so much for that. Really. Allow me to say this to you, and through you, to others: I know we're going to disagree about many things, but I am not in any doubt as to your native intelligence, whether or not I agree with you. Sometimes when people disagree, it seems like they not only dismiss their views, but their very intelligence. That is wrong, IMO. And disrespectful. Wish it weren't the case on the internet, but that remove seems to make even normally cowardly people into lions online. I'm sure Wendell Wilkie would've appreciated your vote.
