  1. My keyring: Why, Tom, just the other day we had someone post in a tizzy, asking what kind of watch was shown in a pic. It was of course, a Graham. Ugh, hate those crown guards. They took the Panerai ones, and made them look like extra-terrestrial pirate hooks.
  2. Looks like Mae West starring in a remake of 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. The Graham Chrono Destro I realise it started as a British marque, but it looks like a horological miscarriage.
  3. Slider: Goose who's butt did you kiss to get in here anyway? Goose: The list is long, but distinguished. Slider: Yeah, well so is my Johnson. US Military Pay http://money.cnn.com/2003/03/20/pf/saving/..._pay/table.html Almost everyone in my family reached at least the level of Captain. This is what they would earn in the US. O3 Captain 2 years or less $34,934.40 $52,869.60 $56,833.20 Competitive intra-service...but horrible considering their education. Which reminds me of that thread I posted...Watches of War, where I wondered what kind of watch the pilot husband of a friend of mine was wearing -- given to him in training in Pensacola, FL. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=323788 Never did find out. Probably a Casio G-Shock.
  4. Except for the gaudy caseback, this is the watch I'd love to have a rep of. I'm a huge fan of the film, BTW. Ceramic. 46mm. Code: IW379901. ~ U$15,000. ...note, I possibly wouldn't actually wear it. I'd just admire it.
  5. So I heard. Welcome, BTW, upirons!
  6. And "inky". Right! Another reason to take it to the watchsmith. OTOH, I rather like the GMT bracelet... 33 Euros. Aha? It should say Date??
  7. Ahh, a difficult topic, rent with xenophobic possibilities in our isle...(not that I am saying you are, Ironmarshall! Personally, just that I may be anti-multi-culturalism, but I am not anti-immigrant or foreigner, per se). Except for the whole Jordan thing, agreed. He also can speak well and not sound like some Harlow chav-duffer tripping over his words...
  8. Lord Rasta, thanks! Raijor, guys, this is the deal: I agree the first one is the keeper, since I also know the dial is crisper, etc. But the dial is deeper darker blue in the second one, which I BELIEVE is closer to gen, right? The first is almost a dark sky blue, which turns silvery when you move it about. The second is a deep blue, like the Mediterranean in August. EDIT: Here is the Air-King, from a gen site. Second looks like this colour: I was thinking of doing this: Take it to a watchsmith, and have them remove the dial of the first, better AK, and swap it with the second. Thoughts? EDIT: Wristie was already been done with the first, BTW.
  9. Good question. Allegedly, yes, because I haven't popped open the caseback, or taken it to a watchsmith. These are cheapies, so not ETA.
  10. I was without internet for a WHOLE 16 HOURS, DBR. It was torture! Certainly not. Why, will become apparent later on when I post my Wristies. (In fact, I've yet to shoot them. They'll have to wait, as it's pouring rain here) I agree they have some deserved success. Flukey or not, real champions always know how to pull one out of no where, when needs be. Yuck. Makes a travesty of anything achieved by Sir Matt Busby... I am in the unfortunate position of being the only cousin in my family who does not support Chelsea. All the rest of the Esher-living, Brie-eating, champers-imbibing typical Rent Boys-loving kin, do. My cousin serving in Afghanistan actually took his Chelsea shirt, flag and other tschokes there, and draped it over his whole tent-quarters. May God forgive us. EDIT: BTW, my father highly dislikes any club from London, including mine. He's a Stoke supporter, and also used to like Bristol City. (Wait for it) And still does. DO NOT dare equate the NASL with MLS. In so many ways, the former was so much better than the latter, although I for one am thankful that MLS today do not have to rely on foreign star-power (save Becks) for their league. They are doing the best thing they can for their own players' growth, and experience. Thank goodness. As for that other Victoria B...well, we had a recent thread about that, didn't we. I made my feelings plain. Ever since his Millwall days... You watch him be England manager one day. Mark me. The man is Brazilian, black, was born to a family of 10 kids, and was so poor growing up, he improvised by making his father's socks into "footballs". Hope he rakes the money in, buys three more penthouses in NYC, and does Viagra adverts until he dies. I find it curious how sometimes this happens, don't you? One player lauded, one almost exiled or an afterthought. Same with Puskas in Real Madrid versus Sandor Kocsis in Barcelona...the latter is considered near saint there. Puskas, though admired and remembered, will always be second (third?) banana to Di Stefano at Real.
  11. I agree with this. Please inform Jay of the delay, though. My last package from him took its usual 7 days from China to South Florida. However, one time a package from Joshua which my mother had ordered was stuck in JFK Customs (as per USPS/EMS) a whole week and a half -- very unusual for us 'til that point. I have a theory. I think our collectors pay off EMS to make shipments go out faster. I can't prove this. It's just a hunch based on having bought 69 reps (the majority of which have been from China...), and having seen their M.O. by now. Anyway, good luck.
  12. I need to send one of the two Air-Kings back. Which one would you keep, and why? Kindly advise, Rolex fans. SIDE BY SIDE AIR-KING I AIR-KING II AIR-KING BRACELET I AIR-KING BRACELET II Example of Gen: http://tinyurl.com/2nelxg Please note that the only reason I got this Air-King was after seeing Chrgod's Norway Day pic on RWG.

  14. As you have seen, I love me some Pel
  15. Ahh, gaaaa, bad memories of Man United scoring flukey goals to win it on the last gasp, during the whole of the 1990s, gaaa. Choke. Sputter. Mind you, that was a cracking equaliser by my favourite player.
  16. I'm afraid I agree. His entire slide into alcoholism and sleeziness was depressing to see, and that was as a mere spectator. In so many ways, he reminds me of Garrincha (who my father considers greater than Maradona, and note, he also nearly single-handedly took Brazil to another WC title in 1962, when Pel
  17. Come on, DBR, even Terry Butcher said that was a perfect goal. It was Maradona's skill, not the England defence looking like traffic cones, which made that goal magical. Messi is outrageously fantastic. However, Michael Owen returned the favour to the Argies in WC 1998, in a strikingly similar goal to Maradona's, in terms of pace and audacity. I was in the stands with my parents, a few rows behind Sir Mick Jagger.
  18. Excuse me, Memsahib, but is this the Weekend Wrist-Check thread? Just want clarification so I don't mispost them tomorrow. P.S.: Didn't get a chance to do live ones today since I've been busy and I'm off to hospital for the night. Weekend Wristies for me will be delayed...
  19. That was excellent, yes. Second goal was class, since the first one looked like a Seaman special. Think Ronaldinho...OR! Anyway, Seaman always looked like a filmstar in gay pirate porn flicks.
  20. The Youtube link isn't working, Hyster. Try to place the numbers after the = "..." and then click on the Youtube icon above. That should do it. And I think I know what "goal" you are highlighting, and who it was who did it. Maradona versus England in WC '86. All right, fair play to him too. One of the best goals I've ever seen live -- even though I was a child, I still remember it as if it were yesterday. I also remember everyone around me yelling HANDBALL on the goal before... But the best player ever was Pel
  21. El Pallacito. I like him too, too bad he's often hurt, because he has a natural feel for the game -- much more than such overrated Argie players like Ariel Ortega. I also very much enjoy JR Riquelme, but he goes missing in matches much too often. Nice goal and spirit of 'fair play to him', DBR. Cheers!
  22. Now THAT's what I'm talkin' 'bout, Pugwash! "Surely an England player of the future". LOL. Indeed. I will decloak myself here as not being very fond of ManUre, but I have always had a sneaking liking for David Beckham. He and Denis Irwin always wore their shirt proudly, and I respected that. Cracking goal. P.S.: Was that Motty calling the goal? Sounds like him, but you know, I emigrated, gulp almost 10 years ago...
  23. It's the word coined in the British Realm circa 1850s for the game of Association Football. It was popular in the UK until the 1930s (especially in the South of England) in the same spirit of "rugger" for the game of rugby (of either code), a corruption of "aSOCCiation" and the schoolboy slangy ending of -er. It is the word used for the game known as football in "British" English by such English-speaking lands as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America, South Africa, all of the Caribbean, and wherever the English language flourished, such as India, Pakistan and Hong Kong. It is also the word used for the game in the Republic of Ireland. Further, it is used exclusively in British public schools for game. The word soccer is frowned upon by "British" English speakers as a creeping Americanism, which as evidenced above, couldn't be farther from the truth. In short, it is as British as boiled beef and Chicken Vindaloo. SNAP.
