I just phoned my boyfriend and told him this story. Especially the bit about "Weekend at Bernie's". LOL, WTF. You know what he replied? "I wonder how Andrea Mitchell is going to report that?" EDIT: Clarification for non-Americans. Andrea Mitchell is the senior political correspondent at NBC, and the wife of Alan Greenspan. Normally, she would be exactly the reporter assigned to mention this kind of flub, but I'm guessing (hoping) NBC have the good taste not to make her...

Gosh, thanks for that update Chrgod! Extract from the earlier post: "A 12 years old boy on journey in Italy with his class, buys a Rolex replica in Firenze and is nicked by the police during a razzia on the market. He and one of his friends are arrested by the police and only released from custody when the teacher agrees to sign that they accept a fine of 1000 Euro each.. blink.gif : The story goes that the boy did not have a watch, but had borrowed his fathers Swatch.. When they arrived in Firenze he saw lot of nice watches on the market at St. Lorenzo plaza, and bought the Rollie for 18 Euro.." Wow, 18 Euro. Jay ripped me off. Ah well, this story is a little different than what I thought. It's more plausible that such a thing would happen, than someone just spotting a fake Rolex on someone's wrist and ratting them out.

John McCain (R-Ari), Republican Senator and Presidential candidate, was reported by the Boston Globe to have an INTERESTING solution if and when he becomes President. “The Republican hopeful said that as president he would appoint Alan Greenspan to lead a review of the nation's tax code -- even if the former Federal Reserve chairman, now 81, was dead, the Associated Press reported. “ ‘If he's alive or dead it doesn't matter. If he's dead, just prop him up and put some dark glasses on him like, like 'Weekend at Bernie's,’” McCain joked. “Let's get the best minds in America together and fix this tax code.” OMG, don't quit your day job.

Yes, and it's Sylar too! Hey there. (I'm sure this will be moved soon to OT) I'll email Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla) and Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-Fla) tonight. I HATE cigarettes and cigar smoke, but I am DEEPLY against this marginalisation of smokers. It's creepy. You have my support.

LOL! For the record, "some guy" is John Terry, England and Chelsea captain (I'm English, BTW). I change my avatars once a week, so you don't need to scratch your head all that long. @Hambone: BURRITO! That's exactly what it looks like. How come I never noticed? @rag9fx: How about dem Patriots! Just love her nice and strong, and no worries. I'll sort her out by PM if not.

Oh, if this is the butterscotch OEM, then I see them on Risti Accessory Corner sometimes. Not cheap, but not $250, that's for sure. I'd say around $150 with 95-99% use.
-
The AR is not double-strong on my PAM 112. I feel it is PERFECT, and looks close to gen compared to the Risti members' photos I've seen during their Wristies. I too have heard that the AR on DSN's Fiddy is different from the more yellow-muted tone on the gen ones. I just love the look of mine though. It's a domed watch, and the AR on it makes it look gen. It's hard to explain -- but it looks SMOOTHLY elegant with it. Both of my DSNs are priceless to me.

It's funny, this being directed to me, the Panerai-girl, right? But to me, there's just a difference between Sharon Stone wearing a Sub: And Uma Thurman wearing a man's sized DJ in SS: Sharon looks awful, IMVHO. That Sub looks mannish and a half on her. Uma looks fantastic, and in fact, I've ordered that very watch for me from Jay. For me, there's just a difference. I would never wear a Sub. It would make me look exactly like Sharon Stone, since though my hair is not exactly like that, being much too short, mine is shortish, perky, and fair just like that. Yipes -- I would look like a cop.

I'm not a vacuous bitchhoe. I'm peace-loving, dress well, look okay, and have some savings, and a nice diploma. I bring a nice dowry to the marriage too. So why I am not married yet??!?! Oh yeah...because I keep turning men down. Forgot about that. Gen-Xers, even late ones like me, marry VERY late. I suspect because we have seen how many people divorce, and divorce is VERY SCARY to me personally. No one on either side of my family is divorced. I just want a marriage like my parents have...

I think they deserve each other. Each sounds horrific. One, a narcissistic, crass gold-digger; the other a calculating a-hole who knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing. Jesus, get these two together on "Blind Date", quick! So I can laugh at how many people are like them in this world.

I've heard of these kinds of stories for a while. Like the little kid who went to Italy on a school trip with his classmates, and someone ratted him out as wearing a fake watch (was it a Rolex? That's crazy on a 10 year-old). It was confiscated, and there were legal problems, OR SO I HEARD. I think Sssurfer clarified that such things are either urban legends in Italy, or on the rare occasion that the Italians wish to make someone an "example" it for sure wouldn't be a child...but either way, it's not common. My father has his barber at MIA. We go there every fortnight, the whole family (what can I say, I was almost born in an airport, and I love the atmosphere even if I don't travel as much). I have worn my Panerai with no problems whatsoever. I wouldn't hesitate to go with them to Da Vinci Airport itself. Obviously, I wouldn't be so stupid as to take a boatload of reps in a handbag, in case I am searched by Customs, but then, it seems like your example was a dealer or an avid collector. I've already told this story before, but once during a South American trip around the capital cities, my mother and I were stopped by Customs and were about to lose our watches due to "duties" (they just wanted a bribe). Finally, by the time we got to Argentina, we bought a sales pad and written out sales bills for our watches. They were old fashioned looking salespads, so we put the date as 1976. I then crumpled them, spilled water and coffee, thus aging them, just to give a right effect. No duties. No hassle. No bribes. Didn't work in Portugal, BTW.

Do you know what kind of a NASA geek I am? I even watch Shuttle take-offs live on the NASA site. This is the ONLY Omega I really want...and it's the one I can never wear because it's simply a guy's watch. There's just no two ways about it. Sigh. Nice watch, Robert.

Do You want to smell like Christina Aguilera?
Victoria replied to Victoria's topic in The looney bin
That's true! And the answer is a hearty, EWWW. Thank God she came out with this now, and not during her "Dirty" period, err, so to speak. EWWWWW. I have Yahoo Mail and there was a banner advertising it -- so I clicked. But they just wanted my info for spam. I'm on to you Christina! -
Please note, I didn't inquire if you wanted to smell OF Christina Aguilera, RWG Males.

Back up, and I already posted the Weekend Wristies there.

As I mentioned to you, Raymond, you have my sympathies over this NEEDLESS frustration. If his Quality Control is really becoming THIS shoddy, then I would have to rethink recommending people to him. I still love his watches, but this is UNACCEPTABLE treatment not only to a repeat customer, but to any customer (and a fellow countryman). And for the price, sorry, it should be nearly flawless. We'll see. I am still thinking of buying his PAM 249 without hesitation, though.

Just when I thought I was getting better, I have a weird palm itching flare-up this very night. My palms look like they're on fire...sigh. HOPEFULLY, though, Monday will have live photos. I have so many new straps to show you all! Can't wait! FRIDAY The fantasy HBB in YG from Paul of Woemart, not Narikaa's because my mum nicked that for her. Close-up -- again. SATURDAY Jimminy Cricket! It's my PAM Lion Purdey (PAM 154). Above I was wearing my Micah V-Dark strap, which looks awesome with the Lion Purdey. Here I am wearing that waffle-pattern strap I thought was OEM, before V told me, 'not on your nellie'. Don't like the angle of my wrist -- I look aged 97 with all those wrinkles!! SUNDAY Keeping in the spirit of the Special Editions, here's the PAM 076, showing the "Maiale" Submariners -- beautiful watch. It's a head-turner! Never fails to get a compliment from startled bystanders. "Wow, cool watch!". The PAV 99 is on it permanently. ...I'll have Rollies, and other watches next week! Touch wood.

For me right now, yes. Haven't checked in all day though, so I can't say for sure how long. It's been problematic these past two days, as I heard on the Shoutbox. As an aside, I'm waiting for the whole Muppet thing to die down, to restart visiting as regularly as I did...

hey guys does anybody know is china ems
Victoria replied to 2005SUBMARINER's topic in The looney bin
Andrew just emailed an EMS tracking number this very minute. As usual with his ultra-professional communication, he said to factor in the US holiday on Monday. No worries. We all can do that. -
Guanaco, how you can you be a "progressive" and be a Republican?!?! (Yeah, I have an pachydermal memory)
-
Some will tell you he doesn't speak English well. I'm not sure, actually. I've seen some private correspondence with others, and it's plenty fine. However, COULD be he has someone translate the stuff for him, perhaps a secretary. And his manners are rough-and-ready, to be honest. Another supposition is that he's used to the cutthroat world of HK, and clearly lacks the personal touch of an Andrew (and having finally contacted him) a Joshua, who are SUPERB in communication. Simply flawless. I'm not quite sure what is at work with DSN, but he does finally settle down. Trust me. As I said, he even apologised in a very gentlemanly way for being curt. He must be aware of it, and one has to factor in that he's basically an one man operation, constructing watches in a small workroom -- just he and a smallish staff. I think of Davidsen as an artist, and like many artists, he's temperamental. Ah well. Go with what feels best, I say. I love Andrew, and TWP is awesome, so there. @Mezz' follow: His AR is stunning. You can really see it on the 112, since the domed crystal of the Fiddy, of course, gives it a bluey-aspect. @Sssurfer: Since you are The Master, I think people should listen to you more than ANYONE here. I fully concur that if you're the non-modding type, that sticking to a DSN is best. I seem to fall into this category. Also, I've heard modding can be expensive -- nearly $200 more than a fully paid up Fiddy, which is $420 factoring in WU fees. That's a little too rich for my blood, whether or not I have the money. My absolute cut-off is $400 for any rep. And used watches, $150.
-
Mezz, when you get a good Davidsen Fiddy, you should hang on to it for dear life. Yes, very rarely have I seen one for sale, whereas Eddie Lee's Fiddies can be had by the M&M-full... BTW, my Fiddy's stem had to be shortened by a local watchsmith (when I finally found one who would work on it). It's not perfect -- the crown wriggles back in when you are setting the time, and I have to keep popping it out. But because it is heart-meltingly beautiful, the bridges engraving especially, and just the general FEEL of the Fiddy (it feels EXPENSIVE), I can certainly live with that. His Ultimate 112H is beyond reproach, despite that it has threaded lugs. Don't worry about that. He sends you retractable springbars with them, and you can probably ask him for more. Again, he works with you. He's VERY East Asian that way. It's like you can bargain with them all day long.

Victoria replied to 2005SUBMARINER's topic in The looney bin
OMG, Ken is going to burst a blood vessel too. Medic! No, 2005Submariner. It's not true. A member posted the date erroneously in a recent thread, where you might've gotten that impression. As of 4th October, EMS is back to normal. The person who is selling you that item MAY be wanting extra time, or to give him or her the benefit of the doubt, may want to make sure things are back to "normal" since you know how hectic China is, after a big do. Your Info above doesn't mention location, but also factor in that 8 Oct is Columbus Day in the US. More waiting. -
The choice of Solomon!! In order: PAV 91 (daytime) Custom Savage (whenever) TC Dirk (nightime) Oh fudge it, just take a screwdriver with you, like me, and keep changing them on the road! @Slai below: White shoes?? What are you a nurse? ...wear it with khaki trousers and a navy blue Polo. You won't regret it.
