  1. do you even know my town? i think not!

Yeah, small German towns at night, which have roving Romanian gangs which behead their victims are really creepy. I personally know hundreds.

then again girls usualy pretend to be talking on the phone, because they are soooo scared of the boogieman.

Oh yes, definitely. I know when I am accosted by strange men at night, pulling out my mobile really scares the bejesus out of them.

"Let's get lost! The girl has T-Mobile, she's trouble!".

  2. 297041-1034.jpg

Maybe this is nuts, but the more of the tschokes I receive with the straps, the more I am inclined to want to return, too. :o

Off the top of my head, these strapmakers offer:

    - Timeconnection.biz: Sealed plastic holder and business/thank you card.

    - Manuffature Firenze: Trademarked cotton "sock". Very handy.

    - Simona: Cute (leather?) pouch.

    - StrapCulture: As pictured above.

    - Zeugma: Suede/leather pouch.

    - Greg Stevens: Long beige cardboard holder with "Greg Stevens" marked on it in black. Business card.

    - Paw Marker: Long black cardboard holder, protected by white cardboard slide-in, dangling Paw Marker fob.

    - Strapworks: (Still to receive) ?

    - Strapcode: (Still to receive) ?

    - Metta Catherina: Certificate of guarantee of 200 year-old leather.

Any other goodies you can think of, which strapmakers send alongside their straps?

@Stephane: Wow, a Daylight. Very nice additions coming too! Somehow you can wear anything and it looks good, Stephane...

@Scoobs: Say"Happy Birthday" to my fellow Leo, Scoobs! Alas, no fresh wristie. I am really upset since last night I broke another nail in my wrist-check left hand...I need red fingernails, stat!

I'll let you into a secret, guys.

I think PAMs look masculine on women if said women don't have an awesome manicure to match.

Maciek's girlfriend, Ola, had a French manicure which really highlighted the PAM Purdey Lion, and gave that huge watch a feminine air. Ditto with me, long varnished nails and my PAMs. So, no mani, no Pannie.

  3. Today...tomorrow...Sunday...see you on Monday.

Why change a great thing, right? See you, Jeff!

Guys, minor catastrophe. I broke my middle-finger nail on my Wristie hand. Makes my hand look awful. I don't know why, but it just does. :wounded1:

    296898-1150.jpg

So I'm going back to red nails for the Start of the Week Wrist-checks. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  4. Should I be concerned? He still owes me product. The last message I got from him was yesterday, and he indicated that he was leaving to jump on a plane.

Don't be concerned. Andrew checks his emails with maniac frequency, and though it doesn't sound like one, that's actually a compliment.

What might've happened is that all his pending/potential customers must've emailed him. Since he's obviously gone somewhere, he probably hasn't had a chance to clear his Inbox, is all.

    Not sure, but a guess.

I myself was waiting to send him an email about the 3 PAMs I received this Tuesday, since I was observing them before emailing him that all was well. :)

    Good luck!

WOW! StrapCulture straps are incredible...splendid choice, Verbal! I heard you get a little leather pouch with each strap too.

(Too bad the Rad Historic Legend I ordered for my Radiomirs is taking so long to come)

@X: Just saw your compliment to my hands. THANK YOU! Enjoy choosing amongst your Aladin's Cave of watches. ;)

@Stephane: YOU HAVE A PANERAI?? And a Fiddy to boot! Don't know why I didn't think you'd be the type to like that. :whistling:

@Scoobs: Lorenz, very unusual. You have a fine eye for quality I've been noticing in the Wristies. :p

@Chubbchubb: I am not much for the SS bracelet on PAMs, but yours is beginning to change my mind. Lovely 111!

  6. Thanks for the quick replies guys! I hadnt thought of the micro adapters. I just called my local dealer and they have them in stock.

Had been looking for this since your post, Carlsbadrolex. Not cheap $299, but at least available in case someone is not near a PAM AD.

(Please change the hxxp to http...I know a window opens up reducing the risk of trackbacks to this site, but I am always very extra careful with Risti)

  7. huh? Why do you all think NY is that dangerous? The small town I live in is more dangerous than NYC. At least I felt more safe as a tourist wearing a 10k watch in NY than as a drunk nightclub visitor over here!

It never ceases to amaze me how men think that women have the same security issues as they do. That because they can defend themselves against a thief, or feel relatively safe walking at night or in a dark Tube station, that we would too.

Slay, for all I know, I wouldn't feel safe doing so in your small town either.

  8. FRIDAY

How about a little Droste effect to start us off? Mmm, so close Predfan2001, so close.

    296448-1475.jpg

That's right -- it's my new Andrew PAM 177h whose Ti case really goes well with the Senape strap, don't you think? Makes it look like a rattlesnake hiding in the bushes!

    296448-1476.jpg

    SATURDAY

I bought the AP T3 for my boyfriend, but I'm wearing it until he gets it. ;)

    296448-1477.jpg

Member trade section rules! Thanks, Gareth, again. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    SUNDAY

Sunday I'm hitting the beach, and then cooling off with my Navigater Planet Ocean under the shower!

    296448-1479.jpg

    @Xim: AWESOME, X, what a great followup! ;)

@Evildee: I thought Tom's HBB was da schizzle, but yours is da massive! And that's the first time I think I've ever used those phrases.

  9. Hey, can you sophisticated watch collectors speak in a language that i can understand :wounded1: .... what is fobbing

    "Passing the buck". *g*

Aloha ke Akua ... Malama Pono y'all :)

Now who needs a translation??:victory:

EDIT UPDATE: Lanikai! Come on, remember Harry Truman's Passing the buck phrase? ;)

Fobbing off means something similar, in that he's POSSIBLY trying to tell me there are no more destros because he doesn't have them, suggesting that it's not his fault, but the other guy's fault.

That's what fobbing off means (more or less, lol!).

  10. She did, but somewhat before you hit the scene.

I hit it going fast, age 12. ;)

When her place was on the Boulevard de Montparnasse in Paris, it was more a question of who you were than what you were worth that determined your entry into Regine's - known as New Jimmy's at that time. Which is not to say that she was running a Salvation Army Mission either: there was great wealth, but not just.

You know the French. If you have some talent, any talent -- you can juggle, declaim Homer in Erasmian-accented Greek, show them how to make dreadlocks, or simply have an Audrey Hepburn pout drinking absinthe in a corner -- you're in.

If she liked Allen Ginzberg, and his ilk, so much the better. But I personally saw her turn away Coconut Grove marina hippies when they came a-callin', and I'm sure their yachts were worth a fortune.

  11. The only problem is that I can’t do quartz or digital, at least I’m trying to hold off unless I absolutely have to.

I'm scared to ruin my leather straps with sweat, and I'd shoot myself if I injured even the crappiest Paul PAM.

So I stick to the Nike Triax series when working out. Depending on my jogging/workout outfits, either the Nike Triax Swift (via Amazon):

    296383-1534.jpg

Or the Nike Triax Fly Ladies (via *bay):

    296383-1535.jpg

    Both under U$100.

  12. Humidor? Sacriledge Ms Barrett !!!

That's not a humidor.. That's the Pre-Vendome box the Pams were coming with ;)

Wow, thanks, V! I love learning new stuff, and this is definitely a must for a Paneristi. :winkiss:

Anyone know how the Slytech presentation box looked like? I'm guessing Panerai did something special, but not sure.

@V: I was going to PM you, then thought the last thing you want to do is read your Inbox...but HAVE A GREAT HOL!

  13. moderately simplistic...and very plebian!

Plebian!? Why I bet you many Rockefellers use the MTA card too. ;)

Seriously, in a metropolis, public transport is the only way to go.

In NYC: I wouldn't wear jewelry and gold(-tone) watches on the street, let alone subway.

In Rio: I wouldn't wear ANYTHING except plastic and Swatches, bought from camel

  14. Wrat are the differences in a "Destro"217 and a Fiddy besides the position of the numbers on the dial...???..It seems to me the case and movements are not at issue here...??? :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

Hehe. Yes, I think the 217h was not in question.

I had asked this collector about the PAM 115, which I would love to have. He said, don't have. Then I inquired about other destro models (not the 217h at the time), and that's when he revealed what I wrote above.

Could it be he was fobbing me off, to save explanations? ;)

  15. What are your thoughts?

Wow! I didn't think anyone read those consumer reports. I have no idea, but it seems that the US car industry got a competitive jolt in the '80s from Japanese auto makers, and it's the best thing that could've happened to them.

Tangentially, just yesterday my boyfriend was reading me (quite for quirky purposes) the top ten laundry detergents, according to Consumer Reports.

I happen to use, by accident, the one rated number 1. Tide with Bleach Alternative. :)

  16. I was wondering what your point was Vic B)

    Heh. ;)

Great followup SS bracelet shots, Subzero1. And glad you "see" what I am saying.

Also, Slay, I bought an "LV cherry" (very very light pink, practically white) strap from Paw Marker, which I am yet to receive.

    296248-1598.jpg

I noticed Taikonaut has a pure white one with yellow stitching too.

    296248-1599.jpg

(Strapcode.com -- anyone here ever order from them?)

    We'll see...

P.S.: Rolli, just clicked on your shark. That looks great! I would buy one...
