  1. Is that brolly from the Kerry Katona collection?

Never thought we'd live to see the day when Spice Girls were the best of their genre.

    BTW nice strap vbarrett!

As they say here, thanks a bunch, Keith! I am quite enjoying the brown stitch contrast with the tobacco dial of the PAM 118. :)

@TeeJay: Hah. Burtons, good man. Not cheap either, despite your sale item. As for Burberrys, as long as Barbour jackets aren't picked up by the Borstal Boys, it's all good. :tu:

Well, I've been on a while on RWG. Let me go cough my lungs out downstairs...sun shining!

EDIT: One more for the road!

    I'm off in my car.

  2. My dear Victoria,

I will never doubt you again. I don't think my budget will allow for another strap. V already had my strap finished and shipped before the antique brown debuted.

Yeah, it's hard to get another just like that. HOWEVER, may I say that if the cocoa stitch hadn't occured to me, that I was going to ask V to make me one just like yours. I even like the rounded tip a bit better, in yours.

And psst. I will PM you about you know what on Saturday. ;)

Thanks so much for waiting. The Raimondo thing just jogged my memory!

  3. I believe krav maga is the martial art taught by the Isreali Special Forces (who are essentially Double-Hard Bastards who make the SAS look like pansies  )

I'll knock down any man who says the SAS are pansies!!

...and then run like hell.

Seriously, very interesting this. Will read up on it.

I also seem to recall reading that it was one of the fighting styles Jennifer Garner received tuition in for her role in Alias.

Jennifer Mrs. Ben Frikkin Affleck Garner?? Good God. No wonder she kicked terrorist butt in The Kingdom.

Me, I did Tae Kwondo at school, and started kickboxing before an untimely skiing accident which broke my leg, put an end to that...

And do you know how difficult it is to casually recycle Muay Thai shorts as daily shorts in SoBe? Hard, my friend, hard.

  4. No, not that I know.

You're right about the G-Shock, at least of what I experienced. Cheap, tough and reliable.

DM51 is the german standart hand grenade.

The first thing I can think of, SD, is that I wonder if you know any of my cousins doing their Dienst. :p

The DM61 we were equipped with at that time, too, is even more powerful, but we did not want to blow it out of all proportions ^_^

Never fear giving me too much information. I specialise in that.

    It looks like this now:

    CIMG2475.jpg

I don't wear it a lot, but it has a strong immaterial value to me. ;)

    It looks Titanium! Somehow. :)

  5. I do rigorous activities with most of my watches, rep or gen. The rep that has singlehandedly taken the most abuse is my Omega SMP GMT.

The rep of choice for sporty types, I see.

I've used it at a Habitat for Humanity event,

Hey cool. I also used to do Habitat for Humanity work. In fact, the first time I went to help out, shortly after Hurricane Andrew, I deliberated very carefully what watch to wear. I was fairly young, so I didn't have MANY choices back then. But one instinctively knows not to wear a Rolex DJ to such outtings...

(I bought myself a Swatch, which survived the hammering and painting)

    krav maga,

    You what?

My railmaster XXL was also subject to plenty of abuse, including skiing (I'm not exactly a saunterer), krav maga, lifting, shooting range (200-300 rounds using both a 50AE, and various .45 ACP and 9mm pistols belonging to friends), and more.

Good God. Another action man, I love it!

Last I checked, IIRC, the SMP was at about 4-6+/day, XXL was about 10-12-/day. All of my other pieces have been used for the aforementioned activities, but not with the frequency that these two have. All have performed admirably. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Well this thread is proving enlightening. I wonder what Rima uses for her sporting activities? I have a decent shot at having the same kind of watches as she does, since I don't know from Railmaster. :D

  6. hi victoria,

    nice to hear from you.

Always a pleasure to hear from you, too, Rolli. :)

(And moreover, to see you posting on RWG!)

my engraver said today, the caseback with the complete pam and slob engraving is ready next week

and also next week comes the plexi.

the price for this pvd bronze model will be higher than for a normal pvd model.

if this bronze model completely finished than i can say the final price.

Wow, that sounds ominously high-priced. I confess, I am not a fan of PVD PAMs (I have mentioned that I think they would look TOO masculine on me).

But your version has a slight...refinity perhaps...that is very sexy.

  7. I just ordered my first watch from PureTime. I spend about 2 hours a day refreshing the EMS tracking info page, even though it tells me the same thing each time.

    Psst. ;)

Don't worry, Tnakasaki. May I also preempt any future post of yours, asking why it's taking so long, why doesn't the message change, etc. Not to be nasty, but rather to help you.

When you're a newbie, especially when you are ordering the first few watches, one tends to obsess about these details. Don't. It will just elevante your pressure.

EMS is notoriously unreliable, and often we are wearing our watches when EMS still says it's stuck in "Guangzhou Depot".

Since you're from Hawaii (aloha, mahalo, Don Ho, Lanikai!), use the USPS website instead. It's SLIGHTLY more accurate.

Remember that any delivery from China, or the Far East is minimum normally 7 days. It's a miracle to get it before that, and a blessing within 2 weeks. Only at 1 month should you start to worry (though that doesn't mean you can't apprise the collector you brought it from, as a heads up).

So, relax a tad, and enjoy the wait. It's the best part of the junky-addiction to rep watches. :p

  8. Psst. Guys. A small word about why I include the person from whom I purchased each watch, in my intro to each Wristcheck.

I get a large number of PMs per day asking where I got this or that watch. Just now, a member asked about a watch featured here. I do know a lot of people do read the intros (at least some said they do, on Repgeeks :p), but obviously not all do. EDIT: Not that that's a problem! This is a visual thread, after all. :)

So, if you're interested in the LV or Alain, or my PAMs, just PM or email the collector involved. Of course, I am more than happy to answer any questions via PM, watch, strap-related, or anything.

Despite being a very bad correspondent. :wounded1:

  9. Figured I would introduce myself. I have regularly haunted a couple of other forums over the last year and a half and decided to expand my horizons.

Watup, Deep1! You're the textbook newbie poster. Looked long and hard before piping up. Unlike some people I could mention. ;)

    Seriously though, welcome!

  10. I've never had a problem running or swimming in either my Planet Ocean, SMPs or 111h. By running and swimming, I mean full out sprinting and swimming against a tide and wave machine (at different times  ) No problems with either leaks or hand slippage ^_^

Good to know about the 111. This seems like the watch of choice for me, in future aerobic activity. I WOULD do the 177, since being Ti it is lighter on the wrist. But I only have one of those...

  11. i play tennis with my old-factory ti chrono avenger -- it has become my tennis watch :D

That's beautiful. As you know, I love that strap.

But I would look like Martina Navratilova with that thing on, playing tennis.

I AM surprised that you wear it for such a purpose. I thought chrono and major wrist-activity, a nono.

  12. A comrade got a cheap quartz Daytona which he wore on one of our maneuvers.

Hey Seadweller. Are you and the handsome FxrAndy Army mates? Hadn't dawned on me, 'til now. :)

To cut it short, it disassembled itself after he shot a few rounds (700-800) with the machinegun MG3, the recoil was more than it could stand. Every hand jumped of it's place and even the pushers and crystal did not survive.

He was cursing like hell and now swears on G-Shock. We finished it with a DM51.

G-Shock...the choice of all military personnel, seemingly.

    BTW, I'm Googling DM51. Fortunately, the MG3 I know.

My sub rep which I wore then, is now my stonemariner and still running great, btw.:D

I will never part with it.

    Stonemariner. Nymphomariner. Bunnymariner. Anymore? :p

  13. Sorry if I missed an Admin newsflash, but whatever happened to the Star ratings, not on each post, but on each member profile?

I was about to give 5 Stars to a member, who I'm fairly sure is too new to have been rated as yet, when I noticed rating with stars is gone.

Oh and when I went to TRC right now, following up on the Happy Anniversary thread I started, I see they have a "Warning" icon -- with percentage in case you fall afoul of their standards.

I love how each forum offers something the others don't.

Repgeeks with their Medals section (I think we had a Newbie Poster Award which Jiro got, but that's all I've ever seen on here).

RWI USED to have a very handy member trade rating. Might come back after the software changeover is complete, perhaps.

RWG has the member map, and the post ratings.

    Something for everyone.
