Yea, I've observed the same thing regarding the steel. There is no amount of cape codding one can do to the rep. Can't put lipstick on a pig... or something like that.

Is the crystal really scratched or is the AR just damaged? It's pretty difficult to scratch a sapphire crystal. So you might want to simply remove the existing AR and get a new AR coating - or just live without AR.

It's a single layer coating of good quality. Less effective than the gen AR but more effective than typical rep AR. Avoid water.
