  1. I recognize the powerboat... I think we are all feeling very nostalgic here! So guys... who has the best sub? haha I see that trend hasn't died down!
  2. Ahh Shundi... and how can I ever forget your avatar!? Thanks to all of you guys! A good chunk of the RWG Veterans! And soon I will make myself an RWG member! Regards VW
  3. Thanks guys! Means a lot to me! I've had about 30 min to go through the website quickly at work and I have to say, UNBELIEVABLE! Indeed a lot has changed, a lot more dealers and reviews. I won't be buying a watch anytime soon, I will have to read a lot before I do any of that, but I have my sights set on one specific watc.... Graham Oversized Chrono Tech Seal. I read a good review/self modification post today... Lets see.... I'm just glad to back here for now! Regards to you all. See you around! Viennawatch
  4. Hello to you all! Many of you will not know me, the puking pumpkin, some may not remember me, some may not care... It's been a HELL of a long time since I last visited RWG, at least it feels like it. I haven't been too active in the replica community anymore. Last watch i got was about a year ago from PT, IWC ingeniur.... I still have my really old Abay (Paul) Rolex Sub, which is about 4 years old, still running well, still looks bloody convincing to most, but from what I have learned in the past few years from here and when i compare it to the latest WM9 or whatever they are called these days; I am truly amazed by the advancements made in replicas. I can almost say, I don't even want to buy an original Rollie anymore.... but we all know thats not true... I have decided to come back to the community, increase my presence a tad bit... Anyways just wanted to drop by and say hi to the old veterans and all the latest members! Last but not least.... SOOOO many sexy watches, and sooo little money..... Cheers! Viennawatch
  5. Well first of let me say that I've been gone for a long time, but due to good reason, I've been very busy. My life's just been too hectic, trying to get me a good job, and I currently work for my country's embassy in Abu Dhabi in the UAE, part time until i find a better job. However, since i live in Dubai and need to drive to Abu Dhabi every morning. I find it hard to come online to RWG to spend countless hours surfing these great topics.. sigh.... I really miss the good old college days. Anyways, I really need your help. Its a silly question, however I don't know the answer and I've tried my best to find a post with this topic. My question is, will a rep PO leather strap fit on to an original PO and will the original PO steel bracelet fit on our UPO reps?? Surely I can just try it out myself, but before I make a big mistake I'd like to confer with some of the experts here. Would be a great help! With best regards, VW
  6. Haha sorry i got back so late on this. I find it interesting how the topic shifted slightly. And Amen to Pugwash's comment about not having to look for work! I momentarily am having that problem and to find something you will be happy doing for even just a few years, is already difficult these days. Regarding the gift, my dad didn't expect it. He totally loves his job and was just a sign of gratitude for his loyalty and success for the company. My dad is not a big watch guy, but ever since I started talking to him about watches, his interest has picked up quite a bit and now that he got this PO... well well... He is more than happy! @Victoria In fact I think the medal and certificate awards still happen today!
  7. Watch looks beautiful! Wear it well! And make sure your son, well if you have one, inherits it. I'm gonna make sure my son, when I have one, will inherit all my watches!
  8. I guess it depends what your role is in the company and which company. I mean if I cleaned the toilets for one company for 45 years... I may get a golden toilet scrubber... lol... Pics will come up soon! Very soon! Dad is on a business trip and well... he's wearing it! lol I'm so broke... I can barely afford a mod on a rep! lol
  9. Well the title says it all. My parents invited a bunch of people for dinner over last night, mainly from the company my dad works at. His boss, a Saudi, was there as well and during dinner he hands my dad a gift. The bag had Omega written on it, I was shocked, he pulled it out. A red box with a beautiful PO in it. Black Bezel, White Numbers, Steel Strap. SOOOOO beautiful. I am soooo jealous, but my dad deserves it. Luckily I wasn't wearing my UPO for dinner, otherwise it would have been clearly embarrassing, for both parties. I wasn't wearing any watch to be honest. Don't we all want to work so hard to receive such a gift? I think I'll go to bed and cry now... By the way, I will try and take pics to satisfy the hungry eyes... Regards, VW
  10. @Victoria First of all, thanks a lot for the reminder on the Mid East post! I totally forgot about that one! I'll have a quick look at that one again and Upirons:) And secondly, the wiener boy couldn't get a job in Austria. Well you know what, I'll let you in on a little secret... a big reason to why I couldn't get a job there was because I didn't want one there... I never liked it in Austria. I was raised in the M.E., so I guess this is my true calling. My parents live here as well, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity. You are absolutely right about your second part. My mother mentioned the other day that she goes to these "Wives Meeting" kind of things.... I really don't know... haha... but she said that there are a lot of married women at age 23 to 25 with kids already... Thats not really my crowd and I NEVER EVER would fancy an affair.... Anyhow, this problem of mine will not last forever, I'm a very social guy, but just not social enough for meeting people at pubs or clubs at random.. Once I'm employed, it'll be alright! @jfreeman420 I know what you mean mate.... I typed out that line, read it and thought, I'm sure someone will think otherwise anyways! Anyways, I don't mind sharing 'interests' with a young female expat! Regards, VW
  11. Heya Scoobs! Well you don't live in Dubai and were the only one who replied! Thanks.. :'( Well I sort of expected that there weren't many people here on RWG living in the UAE. However I'm glad to hear that the youth in you is still strong! And it is a shame you don't live here. I'm sure you'd like it. Luxury is comparatively cheap to the rest of the world. Cars and Gen Watches sell for 15% to 25% less than in EU countries. Oh and there are a lot of clubs here, at least according to a popular magazine. I moved here a week ago and I... well don't really know anybody to go to clubs with and I don't really want to go on my own. "Shisha" is also known as a Hookah or Waterpipe... Shisha is the original Arabic name for it. Hope that helps, maybe you can hit up your nearest shisha joint wherever you live in the EU and give it a try! Regards, VW
  12. I know what you may be thinking.... No... I'm not trying to find a date. I'm just trying to find people who have similar interests, such as watches or other interests, whatever it may be and get to meet them. Hang out, chill, whatever... They need to be around my age, which is 25. Please don't misunderstand, I've got nothing against older people. No discrimination here, just that I highly doubt people beyond 30 years of age will still have the same interests as me. But hey, I've got nothing against 40 or 50 year olds who still like to hit the club! Just lemme know! haha. Generally folks who like a few good beers at a pub, like to hit the clubs or go for a good old shisha. Whatever it may be, I'm new in town, so I do not have any ideas of where to go around here. Regards, Martin
  13. Well since I'm a heavy jogger, in other words endurance jogging. I believe mechanical watches are useless for such an activity. I need something that can properly measure my time with my heartbeat, measure my progress over the weeks, months, etc... There is no such mechanical watch that can do such a thing. Therefore I stick to my Polar! Although, you may have caught me wearing my ancient sub at the gym a few times, but I stopped doing that for a while now. Because my ancient sub is a piece of crap. I'm contemplating whether I should just trash it and buy a new one or actually have it serviced/repaired... Oh i know! I will play around with its interiors! Anyhow, all my other reps are way too nice to sweat on! Polar it is. Regards, VW
  14. Hey The Zigmeister! Sorry to hear about your overload! Hope things calm down! However, I am interested in getting some mods done soon! But what I would like to know is... where can I get this "PDF" file of yours which lists all your services and prices? That would be an interesting piece of information. I've been MIA for a while since I've just moved to Dubai, so I'm not sure if this pdf document is still being made or is already on the forum. Tried looking, but couldn't find anything. Regards, VW
  15. The holiday season is almost here and here for some of us already, we surely are all ready to celebrate! I as well will be celebrating with family and friends and will be away for the next few weeks, therefore wishing you all already a merry Xmas and Happy New Year! Until 2008 folks! Happy Holidays! Regards, VW
  16. Oh mannnnnn, the majority of those watches are [censored] ugly. I nearly got a heart attack when the Panerai link loaded up!
  17. @pugwash I guess you are right, but I am sure there is a similar picture! I went through half of my M:TG cards and then just got too exhausted to go look further. I've got way too many of these cards. I'm considering selling them, maybe some of my rares will be worth a lot more in a few years. @flamemax Ahh I hear ya! Ya in that case it will be difficult. I read somewhere here that someone's friend went to him a watch in Thailand and even after all sorts of explanations, he ended up getting a really crappy Rolex rep... Well best of luck nevertheless!
  18. Ah Red Dragon, thats right...Darn... haha @flamemax Well its not a secret to those looking to purchase higher quality and willing to spend more money. For example, lets just say you were interested in a PAM 183 and he rips out a piece of crap PAM 183 which is automatic and has a small looking glass in the back and what other crap that your eye spots. Obviously, most of the lesser quality will be upfront, in case of any police confiscation. In that event, their good quality is still secured back in some other warehouse or room. What I did in Thailand and which worked, was I printed pictures out of the original PAM 183 and showed them to the guy. I said, "look at the original, its a hand wind and not an automatic and doesn't have these horrible extra details. I would like to have some better quality." Of course you need to KNOW that a better quality version of the watch you are looking for exists and that is why you have RWG to do all the research. Don't go there digging and digging, expecting to get reps 99.9% identical to the gens with out any detailed research. Especially if you are not familiar with the best quality of reps these days, how will you know if the watch the dealer is handing you is actually the best version he has? He could just be trying to get rid of his crap stock... So take care and do some advanced research on the watches you want or intend to purchase if found. Regarding looks, well haha, its all about the asking, could be anyone who sells them. And they probably will not have their good quality stock on them or at their stand, they may either take you some place else, which i find somewhat too risky, or they may get the watch that you want and tell you to come back after sometime, but most often they will try to make your promise to purchase it for a price. The bargaining in my experience usually happens before they get the watch for you, but if you are good enough, you can bargain even more after it comes. Tell him, ohh this is not actually what you are looking for but you like it anyways and are willing to purchase it for a lower price. You know... play around with it. Give it a shot, nothing to lose really. About price, thats a difficult one. I never bought a rep in KL, someone else will have to help you on that, but I can't imagine a lot more than you can get reps here for. Since i lived in Thailand at the time, I didn't see a point, as Thailand has much more dealers selling reps, for example at MBK, which is where I got my stuff. Anyways best of luck and let us know what ended up happening! I'd be interested in hearing about your adventure! Regards, VW
  19. You are right about that, you most likely won't find anything 'outside,' you'll have to dig a little deeper for the better quality in KL. Ask the dealers carefully, but then again thats mostly the same everywhere. Hey ahchard, please correct me if I'm wrong... your picture (avatar) is from Magic: The Gathering? I can't remember the card name, but it looks very familiar.
  20. I lived in Cairo for 5 years. Sure its not your metropolis a la Paris, Vienna, New York, SF, London. Cairo is Cairo and will always be Cairo. People may not be rich, but they are happy in their own way. Its a truly beautiful city for those who can stand the grit and dust. It has a lot more to offer than 5 star hotels from a movie set, but of course, its not for everyone! Hope you enjoyed your trip nevertheless! Regards, VW
  21. I wish for the sake of making you happy I could say that the Pumpkin PO, with the orange numbers has a misaligned dial and crooked logo, but the one I have ordered from PT is just the opposite of what you have said. Its a great out of the box rep. Of course the logo is the incorrect one, but still. For a rep, its damn good! I can tell you right now that you'll get GOOD quality from PT. Its worth the extra Euros, will save you all the hassle of having to send it back if you are unhappy with a crooked logo or whatnot! Just a note: I did have to send my PO back to PT, but thats because it had the wrong movement in it, but that was a one time occurrence, don't think it will happen again. Cheeers!
  22. Sooo the process took about 3 weeks, but here I am back with a message. Just received my new pumpkin PO back from PT and its using the 2824-2! I must say I am happy with it and soon, but not very soon, it will get some mods! PT is a great collector, he always comes through! Regards, VW
  23. Us diesel user thought we could get away with cheaper fuel. Actually it is cheaper, but its gone up almost a 100% since 2003. Here in Vienna, I used to pay EUR 0.64 cents for a liter of diesel. Now I pay EUR 1.19 a liter. Petrol is about EUR 1.25 to 1.35 a liter depending on the octane. Sucks ass.
