I know how you feel Floris, I went to Thailand for a year on an exchange program a few years back. Although it wasn't for as long as you, I felt similarly. However I was the only foreigner in my university, so it was a bit awkward for the locals to have someone like me join their ranks. Anyways, with a little housewarming parties sponsored by me, all was well and I became somewhat of a star... haha... I don't know how its going to be in the US. Obviously Thailand and the US are two totally different scenarios... but I am sure you will be just fine! Regards, VW

Thanks for the replies guys! Ya India was smelly, very undeveloped and just very unorganized. It had its pluses, people were very kind and the food was amazing, cultural history and all the sightseeing was purely amazing. In fact I was able to get into the Taj Mahal for free where foreigners usually pay 750 rupees to enter. I was lucky to have arrived during the anniversary of the maharajas death. Nevertheless, India will remain a place I will only visit for tourism purposes. Who knows though, I never went further south than the Jaipur, also known as the Pink City, the capital of Rajasthan. Supposedly places like Mumbai (Bombay) and Bangalore are really nice... I for one never had any diarrhea problems with the food, but my international colleagues spent days in the toilet... lol.. Haha no Defacto, its only 2000 to 3000 RMB a month. I know its DAMN low, you are probably thinking that I am mad! I have a chance to go move to Dubai to my parents and work for some petrochemical company and earn up to 3000 dollars a month plus benefits, but you know the money ain't really doing it for me. I have this dream to live and work in East Asia, so i need to follow my heart. Anyways, I'm a recent graduate and I am really not picky, well not that I am, but I can't afford to be picky with my low experience, its really ok... My previous work experience is pretty much useless since I sort of want to switch to marketing. So at the moment I am just looking for an excuse to live in East Asia and at the same time gain experience before I start my MBA. Theres no better experience than International experience, and my only 4.5 months in India has proven that with the many internship offers I have received, 99% of which are not paid and which I definitely will decline. Besides, its not like I will be totally broke, I have enough cash to back me up there with that low pay. Consider the 2000/3000 RMB as entertainment money! A rep a month! -
Well yes, the title really speaks for itself. I have been offered two internships. One in Guangzhou, China and the other in Shenzhen, China. Both are very close to Hong Kong from what I have just shortly read on some google pages, Shenzhen is actually VERY close to Hong Kong. Now the icky part is choosing the internship. The one in Guangzhou is with a language school that teaches Mandarin and other Chinese languages to foreigners, but I wouldn't exactly teach. I'd work in marketing production on certain projects related to marketing of the company for about 6 months. The pay is very low... 2000 RMB and free mandarin lessons. Please note that Marketing production would be something I'd really be interested in. Marketing production and brand management, this is something I'd be interested in following a path in for my future. The second internship in Shenzhen is with a company called AEE which produces wireless network solutions and certain other security devices, etc... Unfortunately they weren't very specific in their job profile. Now although marketing is my field of interest, all they put up was marketing and sales and I have a bad feeling that I may just be sitting there to do cold calls 24/7. Something I do not want to do because I had that experience in prior internship in India... Sucked ass. However they DO offer 3000 RMB a month, a free apartment inclusive of utilities and lunch. The pay just sounds more appealing however, pay is not always anything, especially if I am aiming at an internship I will give it some time to think, most probably until Monday and then email both companies asking them a little more about what I would be doing, more detail specific. I don't want to end up in a company and realize after a few weeks that I want to resign. lol... Besides... Austria and China are not really close either for me to just buy a ticket and realize it sucks... Obviously, I can make the decision on my own, but some advice on either Guangzhou and/or Shenzhen would be great for any people who DO live there or have traveled there recently would be great. Whats life like there? Are they both semi-advanced cities? I lived in Gurgaon, India (25k south of Delhi) which was considered advanced for India and I hated it there, even Delhi in my opinion sucked... Infrastructure was a real problem. Some places had no roads or what seemed like roads, power cuts, water cuts, poor telecommunications system... This is the sort of stuff I'd like to uncover.... Yes I know, East Asia may never be like Europe, but I don't want to move backwards into the cave era if you know what I mean... For example, I love Bangkok and Shanghai! Some advice from people who work in marketing production or have work related to it as well would be great. You know whats its like, what I can expect... With sooo many members on this forum, I'm bound to find a few people who know what I need!!!! I will add more updates when I find out about these two jobs on Monday or Tuesday! Until then, keep the posts rolling! Regards, VW PS. I may go for neither internships... but anything to help make the decision easier would be great!

So this watch is out of production I heard?!

So many different models of Planet Ocean, who to buy from?
Viennawatch replied to agepag's topic in The Omega Area
Well yes you ARE right, the movement is not the only difference, but are you willing to spend an extra 200 to 300 bucks for an ETA movement? Or are you willing to live with the fact that your A 7750 could go haywire in well anytime really. It could stop working within two weeks after you purchase it or it could last a few months to a year or more. You never know... Its like a Kinder Chocolate Egg surprise, you never know what you get. lol In the end its your choice of course and many have purchased watches with A7750 and are happy with them, but then again there are many people you sadly don't hear from anymore because they purchased from an RWG based dealer, their A7750 stopped working and they filed a dispute against the dealer on paypal or made a big fuss about it on RWG.... You getting my drift? As long as you know what you are in for, its fine... Being a little overprotective here... sorry... Regards, VW -
uh uh... not my thing... Try the Louvre... they may be interested...

I'm inspired... Unfortunately, the beloved PAM 192 is out of production...

Viennawatch replied to agepag's topic in The Omega Area
@agepag As you are rather new to the forum... I'm curious to whether you know what an Asian 7750 is and whether you think they are reliable or not? Many members will give you different opinions of course, but there is one answer the 7750 tends to sway towards more... You can figure it out by reading the forums as well if you'd like... but I will give you the answer if you don't know it, if you ask kindly! -
Seems like a real trickster to me... I wonder how many people have received replies from him like that...

Ever thought of foregoing your collection?
Viennawatch replied to anton's topic in General Discussion
Yes I have thought about that anton, but then again I don't have so many reps/gens to begin with, haha. So it was more of wishful thinking with me... But I'd go for the AP Alinghi... however if I'm not wrong, there is a considerable price difference between the Alinghi and the VC... like MAJOR.. Why not sell enough gen and reps to get the VC and keep your favorite reps/gens... Good luck anyways! Please do inform us when you purchase either watch and pictures pleaseeeee! Regards, VW -
Awesome!!! My hero.. but I do prefer the 111.. looks a bit more complicated with that seconds subdial! Nevertheless impressive work!

Well you are absolutely right on that one, but then again, I can't help myself.. I'm a mobile gamer... Just pretend the laptop is a desktop and plug it in everywhere... PS, I think battery life is 45 min. hahaha

I know this is somewhat off topic, but we've also got TWP. Sure he is new compared to some other dealers, but still... You can purchase watches from him, with all the mainstream mods and I've mostly heard good things about him. The problem with a lot of these dealers who start out with excellent quality and QC and then end up becoming some of the most horrible dealers to end with, is that their passion is not watches, but making money. And once they realize that they are making thousands and they can't keep up with orders, QC starts to deteriorate until it reaches nonexistence. I don't know, I think thats pretty normal in any business sense. If Rolls Royce all of a sudden start mass productions, don't you think their quality would go down considerably? Quality would be worse than the hand assemble cars, but the price would still be the same because of the brand... As long as we have dealers who are active in the forum, participate in the forum and not only in terms of sales and what they can offer, ones who love watches themselves, we'll never have any issues... My 2 euro cents Regards, VW

Below is a posting from Craig's List from a girl who is trying to find herself a husband, and then a guy actually responded to it... it's too funny..! The Original Post What am I doing wrong? Okay, I'm tired of beating around the bush. I'm a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl. I'm articulate and classy. I'm not from New York. I'm looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don't think I'm overreaching at all. Are there any guys who make 500K or more on this board? Any wives? Could you send me some tips? I dated a business man who makes average around 200 - 250. But that's where I seem to hit a roadblock. 250,000 won't get me to central park west. I know a woman in my yoga class who was married to an investment banker and lives in Tribeca, and she's not as pretty as I am, nor is she a great genius. So what is she doing right? How do I get to her level? Here are my questions specifically: - Where do you single rich men hang out? Give me specifics- bars, restaurants, gyms -What are you looking for in a mate? Be honest guys, you won't hurt my feelings -Is there an age range I should be targeting (I'm 25)? - Why are some of the women living lavish lifestyles on the upper east side so plain? I've seen really 'plain jane' boring types who have nothing to offer married to incredibly wealthy guys. I've seen drop dead gorgeous girls in singles bars in the east village. What's the story there? - Jobs I should look out for? Everyone knows - lawyer, investment banker, doctor. How much do those guys really make? And where do they hang out? Where do the hedge fund guys hang out? - How you decide marriage vs. just a girlfriend? I am looking for MARRIAGE ONLY Please hold your insults - I'm putting myself out there in an honest way. Most beautiful women are superficial; at least I'm being up front about it. I wouldn't be searching for these kind of guys if I wasn't able to match them - in looks, culture, sophistication, and keeping a nice home and hearth. it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests PostingID: 432279810 THE ANSWER Dear Pers-431649184: I read your posting with great interest and have thought meaningfully about your dilemma. I offer the following analysis of your predicament. Firstly, I'm not wasting your time, I qualify as a guy who fits your bill; that is I make more than $500K per year. That said here's how I see it. Your offer, from the prospective of a guy like me, is plain and simple a crappy business deal. Here's why. Cutting through all the B.S., what you suggest is a simple trade: you bring your looks to the party and I bring my money. Fine, simple. But here's the rub, your looks will fade and my money will likely continue into perpetuity...in fact, it is very likely that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won't be getting any more beautiful! So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning asset. Not only are you a depreciating asset, your depreciation accelerates! Let me explain, you're 25 now and will likely stay pretty hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you! So in Wall Street terms, we would call you a trading position, not a buy and hold...hence the rub...marriage. It doesn't make good business sense to "buy you" (which is what you're asking) so I'd rather lease. In case you think I'm being cruel, I would say the following. If my money were to go away, so would you, so when your beauty fades I need an out. It's as simple as that. So a deal that makes sense is dating, not marriage. Separately, I was taught early in my career about efficient markets. So, I wonder why a girl as "articulate, classy and spectacularly beautiful" as you has been unable to find your sugar daddy. I find it hard to believe that if you are as gorgeous as you say you are that the $500K hasn't found you, if not only for a tryout. By the way, you could always find a way to make your own money and then we wouldn't need to have this difficult conversation. With all that said, I must say you're going about it the right way. Classic "pump and dump." I hope this is helpful, and if you want to enter into some sort of lease, let me know.
