  1. I put Vista on my system - AMD X2 4800+ Socket 939 with 4GB Dual channel DDR400 (I know, big deal, but it was a bitchin' sytem when I put it together) and it felt like a K6-2 (I've only ever owned AMD's) That lasted about a month and I got fed up and went back to XP - Vista is the solution to the phenominal performance and durability now available in the computer industry - Planned obselescence. A Core 2 duo will smoke a Core duo even at lower clock speeds. A Turion is only a little slower and a lot cheaper.
  2. Though Dell has gotten better as far as price point/after sales service goes, tha Toshiba you mention (strictly as far as specs go) is the far better of the two. If you have more money, go for an AMD Turion (best performance value) or a Core 2 Duo (not a Core Duo without the 2).
  3. I agree, I think that's an asian movement attempting to pass as eta, I think we need an expert here *edit* where did it come from originally?
  4. Hey, I simply pointed out that the fact that someone doesn't have a thousand posts in a years worth of membership doesn't make his experience meaningless. Someone was offended by that observation and decided to attack me on a personal level. That was uncool. How would you have felt if you were banned from RWG (as many people called for) simply because you have <300 posts, but Flav has 1600+ therefore you "don't know what you're talking about" and are obviously trying to scam him? *edit* By the way, where's all this "name calling" supposedly taking place?
  5. It has to do with someone *s h i t t i n g* on someone else's experience simply because they choose not to make ten posts in every topic every day. That's what.
  6. I would have asked about different strap combinations, that way you could mix and match. If I could get all three (which I just might have to now after seeing this) I think I'd go something like this:
  7. I think you meant condensing, but condescending does fit better. Who's "whinging"? and where did you see a personal attack (excluding your own post to me)? Get off your high horse. Someone summed it up nicely in the other thread, but twotone censored it for your benefit. Seems like people really do line up... I let you have the last word.....
  8. A noob who's been here almost a year compared to your month and a half? I'm sorry but 1100 posts on who's got the best strap and how many times a day you go jogging doesn't make your opinion any more valuable than someone's experience. Period.
  9. Just one example (I don't have his SOSF, so I can't comment on the validity of PIX's observation) And here's the description: http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...roducts_id=1253 I think this would be the bigger issue. Price fixing goes on (I'm from Canada - we've suffered from utility/gas/telecom/cable monopolizations for decades) But misrepresentation is something else entirely. And since when is an Asian replica with an Asian movement worth $200? You can get a wide range of ETA models from other sellers for that much - though sometimes their service levels leave something to be desired.
  10. I think you're SOL. I've seen that one (except the one I saw had the "open 4" on the bezel - correct for the Aeromarine series) It's supposed to be a super avenger (I think) but it's like (the one I saw) 5 or 6 mm bigger than my SA rep. You can get the SA rep for around $250, so I'd do that and use this one as a beater. Even if you could find a dial to swap, the fact that it's quartz would ruin it, in my opinion. *edit* By the way, does your UTC actually run in 24 hour mode, or is it just labeled like that?
  11. I have 2 Asian BCE's and the bracelet does not feel "cheap and light". In fact, it is a 1:1 copy of the original, imo.
  12. I don't think this is the same as: Yes, you're trying to start it
  13.
  14. No, the crystal doesn't move on the BCE.
  15. Well, I just spent 41 minutes searching all of PT's posts at RWI and either I'm blind, or he never said it.
  16. Probably. I'm into week 4 now - and still waiting. That's just the standard rhetoric - 3 to 5 day EMS means 3 to 5 weeks in Chinese. Standard mail means "we won't send you anything, and tell you it must have got lost. By the time you realize it's not coming, it's to late to file a complaint and we can dig up an old tracking number that didn't require a signature that says it was delivered to your town.
  17. I have 2 BCE's and have to disagree with you there. Short of the movement being Asian, the newest so-called "ultimate BCE" is 100% faithful to the gen. *edit* okay the bezel ring slightly obstructs the view of the tachy - so 99.9% Weak lume - just like the gen 120 click bezel - just like the gen - that actually lines up properly (unlike the SOSF). bracelet - exact weight, correct model number on last links, date code on centre just like gen AR - double sided, perfect, just like gen. Cheaper than the SOSF Anyone short of an expert would have to open it up to know for sure - short of checking the serial against the Breitling database (it would fool most AD's that deal with more than one brand). Some would say the SOSF is more faithful 'cause of the movement - but once your AD opens it up it's a dead giveaway. Not to mention the fact that your bezel is misaligned (I don't know if it's the proper 120 click, could someone tell me?). Oh yeah, regarding the date window - my guy at LaSwiss (AD in Canada) told me that the boys at Breitling have been know to screw with the photos of their watches by putting off tiny details to create secret "tells" and make it difficult for counterfeiters and easier for the dealers since their brand has been so heavily replicated since the '70's. This may or may not be one of them (or even true for that matter) - who knows.
  18. I agree - a strap really "shrinks" the watch down - which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
  19. Looks like it might be from Criss Angel's collection of super avengers. You know you have too much money when you take a gorgeous $4000 watch and turn it into a $40 000 train wreck.
  20. That and the fact that they used the "dark silver " (is there even such a thing?) that they used on the first BCE. Looks almost like tungsten - mirror from one angle, black from another.
  21. The subdial hands ARE silver
  22. Check his gallery - He might let you have that EVO for $20 if you buy the SOSF (though he does say They pick the watch) Never hurts to ask.
  23. I actually laughed out loud when I read that. There's been a lot of thread-hijacking for various reasons here The way people are bashing at each other here I'd say you'll make a killing.
