  3. Update: Finally found some time last night to do some case work. Shaved the CG. Sanded and polished the case and the. Rough sanded the bezel to remove the engraved numerals and markers from the exp 2 bezel. Managed to maintain the nice bevels in the case. Next is to finish sand the bezel and attempt to drill the lug holes. Does anyone have any suggestions? @jmb. I have a drill press and a vice. Do I angle the case slightly and go from the inside out or mark and punch the outside lugs and hope for the best ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. As my first build started off as a 1019 build but has switched to my 6542 build. I still wanted to build a 1019. Was doing some cleaning and sorting some things around my office. I came across this old watch. It was an explorer II from Ali that I had forgot about. Was gonna toss it. But then thought. Hey. This could be the 1019 build. The case is quite nice. Squared case sides nice bevels a good size. It's 39 mm which I like and most importantly. It will fit the 29mm Yuki dial [emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303] I will give it the same treatment I did with the 1655 case. Shave crown guards. Drill lugs. Which will be tricky since there are not pierced. And I will need to sand down the rehault as it has the Rolex engravings. I will sand down the bezel smooth I will find a better crystal or shave the cyclops off if. Just need to fit dial and hands to the movement and it should work out nicely. [emoji1303]. Stay tuned !! 6. Update Still waiting on parts to finish this build. In the meantime. Picked up some leather scraps and gonna make some straps , watch rolls , and other various leather accessories. I really dig the distressed look of this hide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. So TGV on the urban genital channel is playing the hero again by cranking on fake watches He was given a quartz day date and then smashes it with a hammer in his sink.....what a moron....why the sink?? the only thing worse than his videos is his skill with a hammer. He said that it was given to him by " a friend" so that he could do a comparison video to a real watch, but instead he just smashes it. real gentlemanly like.... This guy just reeks of BS e goes through 10 reason not to by a fake watch , and then has a Freudian slip saying that real watches are a wast of money. A fake watch is a watch that does not tell the time. Of course all his nut swinging mindless followers cheer him on like he is some sort of hero. Its really hilarious to watch this idiot. TGV at best is an enthusiast ...no specialist or expert in any sense of the word When you watch some of the videos that he does with Federico and Christian , these guys talk circles around him cause he hasn't taken the time to do any research or learning on the brands, models, etc . I bet if you were to drop a new Explorer 1 or new Oyster Perpetual in front of him, he would not be able to tell, even if he had the tools to take the case back off and I think that 99% of his fan club is the same if not worse.... I always find it funny that all these self proclaimed horologist enthusiasts always use the worst examples of replica watches to do a spot the fake video. Anyway. Just thought I would rant a bit on this and post the video if your interested.....

  11. Another small update I fixed the crooked crown issue. When I swapped in the 1675 movement, I used the crown and stem from the 1675 case/ movement. When I got home today I compared the crown on the 1655 case and it is slightly larger than the 1675 so I opened it up..pulled the stem and tried the original crown that came on that case (the 1655) and it fit proper. The 1655 explorer crown is larger as and the tube is also that what comes on the 1675. The stem works on both as they are both ETA. Installed the 1655 crown and stem into the movement. but then went to adjust the time and the crown was loose on the stem. removed it once again to tighten up the crown on the stem...reinstalled and BUGGERED UP THE KEYLESS WORKS!!! *headbang* FSA!! BCP!!! .......OR so I thought. I fiddled with it a bit and tried installing it a few more times and somehow by the luck and power of the Horology gods I got it installed and working again!! Thank FRICKING GOD!! No idea how...so dont ask....but I was able to set the date and time and wind.....talk about dodging a bullet and fixing the grown issue..... I am counting my lucky stars and am not gonna fuk with it until I have the dial and hands ready to install and even then I am going to buy a new movement for this watch so that I can replace this movement and dial back into my 1675.. anyway...time for a beer and some food!!

  17. Bit of an update. Changed my order with Yuki. Gonna get the 1019 dial and handset. Also inquired about their case set cause faraday cage. Why not right ? We'll see what they have to say. In the meanwhile, I received my case back tool in the mail today so I opened up my 14270 to measure the dial and movement. The case can easily handle the 29mm dial. So I may consider this as an alternative. Aka " easy way out ". The idea of getting a Yuki case set and sourcing a gen 1560 movement is now a consideration. But I'm sure I'll snap outta it. [emoji38][emoji38] I think I will need assistance from a more experienced Modder to machine the dial , broach the hand and assemble. Into the modded 1655 case. I will get figure that out when the dial and hands arrive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Bit of an update. Changed my order with Yuki. Gonna get the 1019 dial and handset. 20. Thank you for the info I appreciate your incite Nanuq. I have not looked at the inside of the case but I am sure it could be sanded down to make room for the dial....since it doesn't have to look pretty I just dont know if I will have enough room to get tools in there to make that room....this seems less risky than shaving down the dial... my fears are hitting the chapter ring or hitting the case back thread if I tape these up it will add some protection.... Here is some info I have found on hand sizes.. Rolex 1580 Movement hand size is .80/1.30/.20 apparently all the 1500 series movements use the same hand size. and the hand set sizes for ETA Movements are: Almost all current 11-1/2 ligne ETA mechanicals take .90/1.50/.25 hands. I do not know if the chineese ETA Clones are of the same size I will keep digging and see if this is true. I am no rocket genius but it looks like the hands that yuki offers could be fit on there with some persuasion and a bitta lube! lol Yuki will sell the dial separate from the hand set but I think I will get the set and see if I can make it work... Thanks again everyone for the tuff love and the ideas and thoughts....its a huge help. ETA 2824 hand dimensions are as follows:Hour: 150 (1.50mm)Minute: 90 (0.90mm)Seconds: 20 (0.20mm)DG2813 hands are as follows:Hour: 150 (1.50mm)Minute: 100 (1.00mm)Seconds: 17 (0.17mm)You can drill out the ETA2824 minute hand, with a 1mm jeweler's drill bit and it'll work just fine. You can also "squeeze" the second hands stem slightly to reduce the diameter a bit, that part is a bit of a trail and error. I've done both and it works fine. Getting a 1mm drill bit and a pin-vice (for clamping the hands and lining up the holes before you drill) is a great investment, as it opens up a lot of different hands to be used with DG2813. (Seiko's 7S26 movement's hand sizes are H:150, M:90, S:22, so the drill would work for seiko hands as well).
  21. Came across the early rare variant of a 6541 on instagram. Too me it looks franken but I guess it's some very rare model ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
