  1. Doesn't make any sense at all to buy replicas for women. There are tons of pre-owned very good looking gens (TAG, Ebel, Rolex, Omega) of the ladies watches available. The prices start from $250.

Why would anyone buy a Chinese knockoff of a ladies' watch for $500? when you can buy very nice gens for that price?
It depends on the size of the lady ...
My GF is 5ft92 so even if she's really fit and has thin wrists she wears a 36 or 38mm better than a ladies watch

  2. The seller refunded me half of the purchase price bringing it to about $250 shipped which is a steal in my opinion. Why wouldn’t the dial say Genève? I’m confused.
My bad ... I forgot about the "seamaster".
Now dial original or not $250 is really good.
And you can see many legit (or so called by expert) seamasters with the same case.
So you can just service it and enjoy, or source a mint seamasters or Geneve dial.
In any case you'll be a lucky guy.

  3. Thanks alligoat.
The "problem" is that the 1975 handwind movement needs a second hand with a 0.19 hole.
I already have one with correct hole and length (from the 70ies) but it's a golden one ... I'll try to use that one and see how it looks.

  4. It appears that it is. I appreciate all the help!
Seems everything is OK with that watch ... everything confirms Omega Geneve ... and the dial could be original IMO.
Problem is that you probably paid it a little on the high range ... some "sisterwatches" sold for US$ 350/400 in France (plus shipping) and higher estimate I've seen was US$485 with a mint dial.

Where did you get those hands? I’m also curious about the November & case you selected. I tried a commando project years ago but stopped when i couldn’t find good hands. Your post gives me hope :)

A member on WRT sent me a link to Ofrei's site ... HAN-6595 ... now I still have to get the accurate seconds hand finish that build

Thant's really kind of you Joey !!!

I was just wondering if Donerix had finished his project to know if he would share some of the problems he had and solutions he found while building that Commando.

Mine is already on the bench at the moment ... I'm about to finish the case reworking and the dial and hands are ... just waiting for me to lume

  8. I want to build one for a friend who fell in love with it, but just can't drop the $15K on it right now

    Commando.jpg

Released in 1972, made solely for one year. The least expensive watch in the Rolex catalog at the time, it is now one of the rarest Rolex ever made. It features the coveted “Explorer 3,6,9? dial & markers. Considered a spartan version of the famous Explorer, it is thinner as result of the manual wind movement. The watch is especially desirable for the Explorer style in conjunction with the bold “COMMANDO” on dial.

So any suggestions on how to get a dial?
I have a suitable case and movement ready to go.
Would love to get some expert opinions on this one.
    Hi Donerix 2.0 ...
I read that old topic and I'd really like to know if you achieved to build that 6429.

  9. Thanks! I certainly am in love too. default_smile.png A stella dial would be a dream, whichever color for me haha.

Tentatively a steel sub for the day...
Will try to build both of those 2 Stellas
so if I achieve those builds I could consider letting one go

  10. Yummmmmm, tasty!  Let's see some profile shots of that bad boy.

    Thanks !!!
Will post more pics early January
Profile is ... not that bad with 2mm fixed bars, "german silver" bezel and a nice big crown
But that's just my opinion and I suspect myself to be sort of ... partial

Won't be there a lot next few days because I'll take care of my grandchildren s.
So I wish you (and all members) to have a nice New Year's Eave ... without any earthquake

  11. This is most disappointing to hear - I sent MQ money for a 9411/0 case set on Friday.
Please tell me the case is at least better than a Cartel case...

Despite the poor quality from MQ, your build looks nice!

From what I ear here and there I really think I’m gonna keep going the hard long way ... get a soso but medium priced case, rework it heavily, do want you want to it, enjoy having a unique watch.
Yesterday I have finished working on a $60 Silix case for my A/6538 build and I’m 1000% happy about what I get.

  12. Hello folks,

I am on the mission to find comex big numbers caseback for my comex project. I can't find anyone from TD that sells them, however i wonder if there is someone in this forum that knows who custom makes them? I don't think Phong makes them, he only does small numbers as far as I know.

Any information would be beyond valuable.

    Many thanks

If you don’t find any you can have a blank caseback laser-engraved then smooth the edges with a soft metal brush on a dremel.

Plus this way you can get all the engrangements period correct.

Here are some pics of what you can get that way ... not a Comex but same process
